  • Please help :/ recovering anorexic?

So, here's the deal. I've struggled with anorexia for over a year now and am finally back at a healthy weight, but it's sneaking back up on me, despite my every effort. The anorexia, I mean. Is sneaking up on me.

Here's the biggest problem: I have a permanent muffin top. Or maybe they're called lovehandles. Hell, I don't know. I don't know why the fat sits on my body this way, but for some reason, I have a roll sitting on my hips. Maybe it's because when I was hospitalized, my body just stuck the fat I was gaining the first place that was convenient, but now I'm....disproportionate.

I'm about 135 now at 5'7, which I can live with. I can't live with the strange roll on my hips. I put on any of my dresses and half of my other clothes and you can see it jutting out. It's triggering and panic inducing and just not good for me. I'm actually somewhat okay with my gains everywhere else--as long as it's proportionate, I can live with it. But I can't live looking like someone stuck a bike tire on my hipbones.

I guess it sorta looks like the picture on the left here, but a little more of a sharp change from flat leg and butt to BAM! side fat! http://www.drmarybethmudd.com/gallery-smp/FFflanks...

Since I've been thoroughly schooled in nutrition (thanks hospitalization) I know there's no way to spot-reduce fat. But the alternative is just losing it all until it's whittled down to nothing again, and that's obviously unhealthy.

I guess what I'm asking is, does anyone have any advice? Does anyone see any other option for me other than my eating disorder?

  • Help, please?? Easy 10 points?

I'm trying to figure out which shade from this list would work for me:

    http://www.sterlingminerals.com/default.asp?c=1

I believe this shade might be what I'm looking for, comparing it to my current (info on my current shade below) foundation but I suck at this!

    http://www.sterlingminerals.com/default.asp?p=122

ORRRRR give me my shade in another popular brand, like MAC?

Currently the Golden Fair shade of BareMinerals has been the only foundation I've purchased that nearly perfectly matches my skintone (not that I've used many). I never could get the shade right until a Sephora associate helped me out (apparently having fair-light skin doesn't automatically mean you have a cool skin tone).

The bareMinerals site describes Golden Fair as the shade "for the fairest porcelain skin with yellow-olive undertones".

But even if you gave me a MAC number or something... any help would be appreciated. I love the way the bareMinerals looks on me, but unfortunately it triggers an allergic reaction/hives if I either wear it for more than 12 hours OR wear it two days in a row. ****ing bismuth oxychloride.Sterling Minerals boasts mineral makeup free of the stuff that makes my skin angry at me, but I just don't know which shade.

    To recap:

-Golden Fair in bM brand face powder is my current nearly perfect shade

-Major help: Advise me on the equivalent shade of Sterling Minerals (which may or may not be the shade Amara)

-Not as useful (but would still be awesome and possibly earn 10 points!!) help: If you don't wish to look at the Sterling Minerals brand, can you give me the equivalent shade in a popular brand, like MAC?

  • Could my intermittent DSL connection be caused by my low Noise Margin?

I've done some googling and it appears that a Noise Margin below 10 isn't so good, and 6 is as bad as you can get without losing signal. I seem to have better signal during the wee hours of the morning like right now, and this is my current DSL information:

DSL Line Line 1 (inner pair)

    Down Up

User Rate 4597 kbs 766 kbs

Max User Rate 4673 kbs 913 kbs

Noise Margin 6.3 dB 11.1 dB

    Attenuation 44.8 dB 13.9 dB

Output Power 18.6 dBm 12.0 dBm

    Protocol G.DMT2+ Annex A

    Channel Fast

    DSLAM Vendor Information Country {46336} Vendor {BDCM} Specific {56481 }

    Rate Cap 6016 kbs

    Attenuation @ 300kHz 39.8 dB

    Uncanceled Echo -17.8 dB Ok

VCXO Frequency Offset -25.7 ppm Ok

Final Receive Gain 18.9 dB Ok

    Excessive Impulse Noise 0 Ok

I've adjusted certain things to try to maximize my connection time, and this is as good as it gets. In the afternoon, I have about 120 seconds of connection before it disconnects :[[

    A) Could I be right in my amateur diagnosis?

    B) If I get an AT&T tech out to my house, will they be able to improve the situation or solve my problem?

I'll add any additional data you might require to answer my question, just ask for it! Thank you!

  • Publishing a book--typeface question?

Hi, I'm a freelance graphic artist who recently picked up a job designing a book cover. My client is very nervous about the typeface I use and the copyrights associated with them, which is definitely an issue.

I honestly don't know what the usual process is for crediting typeface creator/owners. For ones such as Verdana and Century Gothic, I know I don't have to worry because they were licensed to me when I purchased MS Word. Other fonts, however, I've acquired through various sites online for free, and some of those were probably licensed typefaces that were illegally distributed. I definitely didn't download them with the knowledge or intention to cheat the owners, but as the internet works, I often have no idea the typeface isn't supposed to be free until I do some research.

    Here are my questions:

    1) Do we have to credit any of the font owners if I use their font on the cover page, and if so, how?

    2) Is there a chance a company would contact me to ask for a proof of purchase/license (and possibly suing me or my client)?

From what I've been able to find out, a typeface license keeps a person from illegally distributing the typeface, but once its been purchased, you can do whatever you want with it. An article I found said something along the lines of "if I traced every letter of a font I purchased and sent it to a friend, that'd be okay, I just can't send him the actual font". Confirmation, please?

  • How can I find my hospitalized boyfriend?

He called me from a psychiatric ward within a hospital to tell me he was admitted, we spoke for 3-5 minutes and said goodbye and hung up. I was in shock and he was obviously not feeling well, so he didn't say what hospital he's in and I forgot to ask. The number was 4 digits, so I doubt I can call it back. I know there's all sorts of laws on patient confidentiality, but if I go and start calling psych wards in my city, are they allowed to tell me if they have him? If not, what can I do to find him?

  • Why do elastic band pants/the tops of tights give me terrible stomach aches?

Tight elastic bands, the elastic bands at the top of tights, those all give me horrible stomach aches. My only theory is that since I have virtually no fat around my waist, but also no muscle tone, the band literally smooshes my stomach against itself and makes the acid churn and fester and hurt. Any other theories, or confirmation of this one?

Even if you don't know the answer, I'd appreciate interesting stars... do you know someone like this? Don't you want to know why it's happening to me? I want to know why I can't wear those clothes :/

  • Ear issues-getting worse.?

Answers would be appreciated because I'm actually starting to get scared/panic...

A few weeks ago, my hearing started to gradually decline. At first it just softened sounds, cut out people's consonants, so it wasn't too horrible. But it's been getting worse and worse, and now I'm frightened and can barely stand it.

-I do have bad allergies, and my "winter" allergies have been acting up, causing me to blow my nose often. (Winter allergies are allergies caused by the build up of allergens in vents and heating systems during the warm months, which are then expelled during the first few weeks of winter when the systems get turned on)

-I've had a few ear infections, but not as many as my sister, who eventually had to get tiny tubes put in her ears to assist drainage.

I've used an earwax removal (generic) aid a few times, it hasn't seemed to help much, and immediately after it seems worse.

It feels like there's something stuck inside my ears, clogging them and muffling sounds. When I try the Valsalva maneuver, the air can't escape from the better ear more than minimally, and not at all in the problem ear.

I don't want to have to go to the doctor, it could be quite expensive... besides continued use of ear wax removal aids and the Valsalva maneuver, what else do you recommend? I just read that resting the bad ear on a heating pad might help....but if the clog is caused by a bacterial middle or inner ear infection, wouldn't heat just help the bacteria multiply and make things worse?

-What do you think the problem could be

-What do you recommend (Besides going to a doctor, if it doesn't let up I'm gonna do it, but not if I can fix it first)

-Would you recommend me using the heating pad thing

  • In any case in the US, ___ v. State, or the Government, who represents the state?

I'm writing a novel in where a court case gets taken higher and higher through the system to seek justice. (In the USA)

    1) In the initial Person v. State, who represents the state?

    2) Then, when it gets taken to the Supreme Court, who represents the defense there?

    3) Finally, how does this person/persons get chosen or selected? Who decides? Who's eligible?

  • Which scientist came up with the first model of the atom based on experimental data?

    Possible answers:

Aristotle, Democritus, Dalton, Goldstein, Rutherford, Schrodinger, Thomson, Millikin.

I'm not sure if answers can be reused, but if they can't, Thomsen and Rutherford's out. I somehow doubt it was Schrodinger.

  • Possible yeast infection?

I've been putting a few small body issues off for a while (over a year), and upon finally googling some a few weeks back, I discovered that it's possible I have a yeast infection. Before you give me the 'go to your doctor' crap, I don't have the time or money, so if it turns out I don't need to, I won't.

As for symptoms, I have white, thick discharge that's pretty smelly by the end of the school day. I always assumed it was because I sweat more or something, since I'm still doing the whole puberty thang, but apparently that's not normal >.>

I don't really itch. I think when this first started happening, over a year and a half back, it was a bit itchy.

Second thing I just noticed, which made me ask the question- the skin around my nails is always red, like it's infected. After googling some nail/cuticule solutions (for my dry skin, not the redness) the inflammation and redness was listed as a sign of a yeast infection.

Here's why I'm not so sure:

This **** has been going on for almost 2 years now. If it's really a yeast infection, wouldn't it have gone away by now?

So, is it likely I still got it, after all this time, or not so much? Is there even a chance that's what it is? I'd rather not accidentally give it to my (new) boyfriend >.>

  • Face shape/hair style?

I'm getting my hair cut because it's kinda...blah. Lots of hairstyles make my face look big, which begs the question--what the heck is my face shape?! I can't decide whether I'm square or round or oval or what, so I could use some help in that area.

Here's a picture of me (and my old hair): http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs764....

In addition, I want to make sure my cut won't make my face look buuuge. I'm definitely getting sideswept bangs, and I want to keep the length while still layering (I'm trying to grow it out). Any images to help me out, guys?

So far I'm liking this cut, I'd just have to tell the stylist to move the part to the left more, for side swept bangs and the side part:

  • Pill supplement to make up for reduced appetite?

Please don't misunderstand me, I am NOT looking for a diet pill/appetite reducer/anything like that. I am on ADHD meds which make me not want to eat in a bad way. Considering I already didn't eat much, I'm concerned about A) Losing weight I need to be healthy and B) Not getting enough nutrients.

I'm looking for a general supplement to make up for not eating as much. I was considering Women's One-A-Day, but I'm assuming that's a supplement for an already healthy diet.

If anyone tells me to just eat more, I will shoot you. Okay, I'm kidding, but only sorta. Imagine being told to eat more after eating Thanksgiving Dinner AND pigging out on dessert. It's nauseating.

    Please and thank you!

  • Tuning--Parlor Guitar?

I find myself the brand new owner of a Parlor Guitar, and confused on how to tune it. When I received it, it was tuned a step down on every string, stupidly, I changed it to standard tuning. Now, when I play a simple C chord, it doesn't sound like a C chord. Did I mess up by tuning it in standard? Or am I just playing it wrong? If I messed up the tuning, what should I tune the strings to now?
