I'm a professional graphic designer and habitual music connoisseur. I tend to fall into the "medical minority" category, having dealt with autoimmune chronic urticaria and sleep paralysis most of my life. A lover of old school nintendo, cartoons, and college sports, I like to surf yahoo answers to offer up a bit of the knowledge that lives in my head.

  • Who is the female comedian in this skit?

I heard a hilarious stand-up segment on the radio featuring a female comedian. Her bit was about being a starving office intern and missing out on birthday cake because you're not in the system yet. I remember her saying "Intern want cake." I can't figure out who it was! She sounded a lot like Kristen Schaal but I don't think that's who it was. Help!?

  • What is a good windows laptop, comparable to a macbook pro for a graphic designer?

I am a graphic designer and have always worked on a macbook pro. I'm looking at buying a new laptop and wondering if I could save by purchasing a windows machine. Unfortunately, after some research online, I haven't found a suitable replacement. I'm sure there's one out there but the windows market is so saturated with crappy machines that I can't figure out which ones are decent. What brands should I look for?

I'm looking for a machine with specs comparable to the macbook pro:

2.9GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz)

    8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM — 2x4GB

    750GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm

  • What is this old Czech card game? Called "Thudaks" or something?

I'm trying to find out the "real" name of an old Czech/Bohemian card game that my dad used to play with his brothers. It had a special deck and was called "Thudaks" or something to that effect. I do not know how to spell it.

  • How do I stop being defensive?

It turns out, I have a defensive personality. I didn't realize it for a long time. I didn't really even know that a "defensive personality" was a real thing. Now, it is causing issues in my marriage. My husband has said I have a defensive personality for four years now but it has taken me up until now to truly realize that he is right. I guess I was being defensive about being defensive.

    How do I stop?

I don't want to get defensive about everything but it's the immediate reaction I have. I tend to point fingers and turn things around on my husband. I also get defensive about tiny things but to me they don't seem so tiny.

Most importantly, I love my husband and want to resolve this issue for the sake of my marriage.

  • Is it legal to photoshop a google map?

Google Permissions says, "When using Maps/Earth Content in print, any images used must reflect how they would look on online. For example, you are not allowed to make any changes (e.g. delete, blur, etc.) to our products that would make them look genuinely different. This includes, but is not limited to, adding clouds or other natural elements, altered user-interfaces, and modification that do not appear in the actual product."

Does this mean I can't photoshop anything at all on top of it? Such as larger street names, call-out boxes to specific items, detour routes, etc? I just want to be clear on this.

  • Help with co-parenting and discipline?

I have a 5 year old stepdaughter. My husband has a great relationship with his daughter and for the most part she is a very well-behaved little girl. However, whenever she gets in trouble or my husband tells her not to do something (don't jump on the bed, you can't have a snack because you didn't finish lunch) she starts crying and says "I miss my momma." We are very understanding that she is 5 years old and we assure her that it is ok to miss her mom. She can call her mom any time she is with us. However, she NEVER says she misses her mom until she is scolded. Even the slightest scolding launches her into a crying fit and shouts of "I miss momma!"

Is she trying to manipulate us? Or, does she never get in trouble at home, causing her to "want momma" whenever she gets in trouble? She really is not a "naughty" child, which is what makes this so hard to understand. She doesn't receive severe punishments or abuse or anything like that. It's as simple as being told not to do something.

What can we do to help this situation?

  • HELP! Can you identify this cheesy sci fi movie?

My husband and I are trying to recall a cheesy sci fi movie we saw years ago. I want to say it was from the 70's or 80's. We can't remember much, just little snap shots in our minds. From what we remember there was a scientist who had a thing in another room that was part of an experiment to develop specific parts of the brain. When it activated that part of the brain, they had this "growth" coming out of their forehead. We also remember there being a scene when someone eats eyeballs, and that there was a lot of sex in this film.

  • Why is my tooth sensitive two weeks after getting my teeth cleaned?

Two weeks ago I had my 6 month dental check-up and had my teeth cleaned. I had no cavities, and everything looked good. But ever since I got my teeth cleaned, one of my top molars is extremely sensitive to hot & cold foods & fluids. Is it normal for a tooth to be sensitive after having a cleaning, and should it last this long?

I am 27 and I've never had a period last longer than 7 days. I got my period about 2 weeks ago, and I bled normally for about 5 or 6 days. Now I've been spotting every day since, making it about 16 days total.

What could be wrong? I plan to see my doctor on monday but I would like a few ideas as to what could be causing this.

  • Can nasal irrigation CAUSE a sinus headache?

Several months ago, my allergist/immunologist suggested that I start doing nasal irrigation to clear my nasal passage and prevent post nasal-drip. I started doing so twice a week, and I have felt great.

I had my yearly re-check with him last friday, and he told me to start doing the nasal irrigation every day, saying that I still had too much of a post-nasal drip going on.

I did this friday and then saturday morning, and developed the first sinus headache I have ever had in my life. I've now had this headache for 3 days, and the only thing I can think of is that it was somehow caused by the nasal irrigation. It is very painful, and I felt FINE up until the nasal irrigation.

Is it possible that I somehow irritated my sinuses during the nasal irrigation? What else could be causing this pain? It is in my forehead/eyes/nasal area.

  • What is the name of the lifetime movie where a woman searches for another woman who stole her identity?

I watched it about a month ago. It may have been a lifetime movie, on demand. It was the story of a woman who got divorced and tried to buy a home but found out she had terrible credit because a woman stole her identity using her maiden name. She tracks the woman (who is beautiful) to another country. The beautiful woman who stole her identity has a daughter named Sara, and a crazy ex husband who is a doctor. Does anyone know the name of this movie?

  • Opera browser says I need to enable cookies...but I already have!?

A couple days ago I installed the Opera browser on my Mac. I'm still using OS 10.3.9 but for the first day, Opera seemed to work like a rock-star. Then the next morning, I went to open up netflix.com and it said that I needed to enable Cookies. I thought this was odd since I had visited netflix.com the previous day without problems.

I checked my settings, and indeed cookies were already set to be "enabled."

I tried various settings, such as "only enable cookies from sites I visit" as well as "all cookies" and nothing worked.

Facebook, Netflix, Hotmail and other sites would not recognize that I had cookies enabled, but these same sites worked on safari and internet explorer.

Later that afternoon, without changing anything it worked again. The next day, it would not work.

What is going on? Can I do something to correct this?

  • What should I know about writing an affidavit?

I am in the process of writing an affidavit in support of my fiance. He goes to court soon for custody of his daughter.

His ex currently has his daughter, but neither of them has LEGAL custody. He is suing for joint custody because his ex refuses to cooperate and let him see his daughter.

What types of things should I include?

Is there anything I should be careful about NOT including?

Do you have any other advice regarding this matter?

  • Parenting advice? I'm going to be a new step-mom.?

I'm recently engaged to a wonderful man who is the father of an adorable 3-year old daughter. I have no children of my own, yet. I always imagined that I'd start the parenting process at birth, so admittedly, I've got a lot of questions about 3-year olds.

Obviously, my fiance will be able to help quite a bit with these questions, but I'm looking for books and advice on raising a 3-year old and possibly some information about step-parenting.

I know that every situation is different, and that being a step-mom is something I'll have to ease in to.

So I'm looking for any and all good advice. What types of foods do 3-year olds eat? Are there any good parenting books for the toddler age? What type of car-seat is best? What about children's books? Toys?
