I really just love music. I'm a currently active drummer and listen to all kinds of genres. Classical, Jazz, Classic Rock, Metal, and yeah, even some Rap/Hip-Hop. I generally try to be as open minded towards music as I can.

  • Help with a pre-calc problem?

I need to use the properties of logarithms to simplify the expression into one logarithm.

    The problem is 1/3[2logaX - 5logaY + logaZ^3]

    = (logaX^2 - logaY^5 + logaZ^3)^1/3

But where do I go from here?

  • Physics help? (kinetic friction)?

A wooden block sits on a level lab table. A string draped over a pulley connects to a bucket that can be filled with lead pellets. Maggie wants to measure how much applied mass (pellets + bucket) is needed to move the block along the table at a constant speed.

    a. If the applied mass of the bucket and the lead pellets is 0.255 kg, and the block has a weight of 12 N, what is the value of uk?

    b. If some extra pellets are added, describe the behavior of the block.

  • Rounding to significant numbers?

The equations are easy enough, I just don't get what they want me to round to.

    A. 1.13159 cm x 34.0 cm = 38.47406 cm^2

    B. 127.2 g / 2.00 cm^3 = 0.0636 g

    C. 235.4 dm x 12.10 dm = 2848.34 dm^2

    D. 3.79 cm x .1335 cm = 0.505965 cm^2

    E. 87.2 g / 65.9cm^3 = 0.001323217 g

    F. 3.432 g + 91.2322 g + 0.341 g = 95.0052 g

    G. 82.45 cm - 14.3 cm = 68.15 cm

  • Books that Explain the Math Behind the Science?

I'm really interested in science, and I've read books by Brian Greene/Carl Sagan/Richard Dawkins, etc. But as authors that help to simply communicate science to the every day person, nothing I've read so far has given me any detail on the mathematics behind the science. What would be some good books to read that would explain math - in particular, math dealing with physics related concepts, such as relativity and electromagnetism?

  • Producers and Consumers?

I'm doing an ecosystem food web for Biology, and I need to know what a sedge is considered to be. From the information I've gotten, a sedge actually "eats" algae. So is sedge a secondary producer? Since it is a plant. Or is it a primary consumer, and then the animals that eat the sedge would be secondary consumers?

  • Do quantum mechanics prove that we don't live in a wholly deterministic universe?

Since a hard deterministic argument would state that you have a 100% chance of doing any one thing at any given time, would the basic principles of quantum mechanics (such as probability waves) show that this claim is flawed, as the quantum world is governed by probabilities that can have nonzero and non-100% chances of occurring?

  • SummerSlam Predictions?

Here are my predictions, let me know what you think (and why).

    Sheamus vs. Orton: Sheamus

They've built the entire thing up as: Sheamus can't beat Orton, he never has. They did the same thing with Cena vs. Batista.. look how that turned out.

    Kane vs Rey: Kane

I'm split on this one because I'm not sure who's going to end up being Undertaker's attacker. I know it seems obvious that it's Kane, but they've run that rivalry into the ground and no one will ever expect Rey to turn heel. I think that it makes for a much better storyline, though, and with the way Rey supposedly feels about Kane and "demons" they could make it so he sought out Undertaker before Taker could hurt anyone else.

    WWE vs Nexus: WWE

I want to pick Nexus, and I was going to, but WWE has that mystery 7th person. I hate mystery people, it'll end up being someone unexpected and then they'll give them a push here with having him be the key to WWE's success.

    Ziggler vs Kingston: Ziggler

I doubt that they'd take away his belt so soon.. plus he has Vickie to distract Kofi and if Kofi goes on a rampage again, Ziggler wins by KO. He'll definitely win cheaply.. but win nonetheless.

    Show vs SES: ???

..No clue on this one. On one hand, SES is really old and needs to go. This could be the start of that.

On the other hand, it's been old forever and yet they keep them alive anyway.

    Fox vs Melina: Fox

Melina just returned. Giving her the belt now would be cheap.

Laycool vs Tiffany and Kelly Kelly: Laycool

Not too sure about this one, just seems like they're going to keep Laycool on the roll that they've been on.

  • Smackdown vs Raw 2010 Online?

My XBL connection is fine and all my other games work perfectly online. No lag at all.

When I try to play SvR '10, everything is choppy and laggish. Is it the game or is the fact that I'm connecting to people with yellow and red bars of connection not helping?

If the latter is the case, I should be able to create my own match and have no lag problems, right?
