I forget where I heard it but at some point I heard that the Universe is 13 or 14 billion years old, is that what scientist say? I don't get how they could have come up with that number, i would think it would be considerably older. I mean if the earth and the Sun are around 4-5 billion years old and , hahaha, as far as I'm aware we still can't see the entire universe how did they come up with that number, did they just look for the oldest thing they could find?

So I was curious as to what some of the other rites are in the church and their different traditional or cultural practises are as i am rather unfamiliar with them? i always thought there were around 23 different rites but apparently there is some debate as to what constitutes a rite,

now I know when people think of catholics they generally think of the Latin rite, I guess because it's the biggest but what are some of the different rites and how are they different from the latin rite in practise and tradition ( clergy, sacraments, mass etc)?

Where doe this depiction of god as an old man sitting on a cloud come from, I have seen it used in the media before ( tv, in books, in drawings etc) hahaha, now, personally I always assumed that it came from the renaissance period from the artistic world like in michael angelo's Sistine Chapel but that is just my assumption as I recall no biblical reference depicting God in any such way. I read an interesting question on here from a person some years back who said they waited until they had finished college to go through confirmation. When you went through the sacraments did you go through eucharist before you went through confirmation?

Would you say that a lot if not some police or people who work in the field of law (judges, lawyers etc) over time lose their confidence in the legal system or humanity , perhaps become disillusioned by their profession as time passes and their perspective changes as they work in those fields. Perhaps seeing violent crimes done habitually with no consequence, seeing people at their worst or laws that are ineffective. what are your opinions on this in the general fields of law not being specific to any certain nation?
