It ain't what you don't know that makes you a fool, but what you think you know . . . that ain't so! Mark Twain Thomas Jefferson said " "Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear."
Can you believe that the bible is NOT the word of God and still have a relationship with him?
Does acceptance of the bible as the inerrant word of God a prerequisite of getting close to or blessed by God?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWill the substance and personalty(s) of GOD ever be settled by arguing over bible language?
Has arguing about the Trinity ever confirmed in anyones mind just what the substance and personality of God really is?
Does it serve the purpose of the christian God to keep his followers in the dark about his makeup and substance?
Who really is responsible for using DOCTRINES to discourage, and frustrate the search for God?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoHow do JW display the LA la La la reaction to questions and answers they do not like on YA?
Do they use the same methods when confronted with internet websites that focus on their history and doctrines?
Yet they expect all to go to their website without questions or verification of the material they present? Could this be the 'three monkey' affect?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoIs the Watchtower Society on the brink of financial ruin? What will happen after Nov. 8th?
Apparently the Watchtower legal dept is claiming "hardship" about posting any cash bonds in the Candice Conti case. They want the court to accept as surety the real property they own unencumbered by mortgage in Patterson New Jersey.
Here are the court papers:http://jwsurvey.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Wat...
Here is an explanation of events and what it could mean as to the very survival of the Organization:
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoIn view of the MONUMENTAL failures of those who try to predict future events by bible prophecy?
Should any bible student, church, organization, ever try to attach time lines or meanings to bible prophecies in Daniel, Revelation, Ezekiel,or any other bible book?
Since no one can prove that they have ever gotten any prediction or expectation right by using such biblical math, should not anyone that has tried to interpret these numbers just simply admit that they were wrong and allow God to reveal the fulfillment if any??
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoAre these SEVEN words the most controversial and polarizing found in the entire bible?
Genesis 1:26
"Then God said, “Let US make mankind".....
Did one Almighty God or several God's create mankind? Within 26 verses of the very 1st chapter of God's message to mankind, does he throw in a zinger to confuse us? The word US can mean 2, 3 or even more entities. What do you think about this conundrum?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoIf Arius was right about the non-divinity of Jesus Christ, why didn't Jehovah's spirit back him up?
Jw claim to believe as did Arius in the 4th century, only 200 years after the last book of the bible was written, that they did not discover this 'truth' until the mid 20th century. Thus, they claim, Jehovah God chose them out of all other religions for believing as did Arius.
What does the historical facts about the divinity of Jesus prove as to their claim?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoHow does the time line of events surrounding the doctrine of the 'trinity' and the diety of Jesus?
Christ, nullify any arguments over the translation of Greek words written 1900 years ago?
If the same arguments are presented only a generation or two after Christs death, who can even suggest that some hideous translation of bible verses caused the whole debate?
What do the facts about these historical events prove?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoHas the Watchtower Society ever been unambiguous and concise in predicting Armageddon?
Is there anything unclear or ambiguous about these false prophecies?:
"But then it also speaks of a group of people preaching about the righteous kingdom of God, a war of God against all wickedness, followed by a paradise earth without death - all to be realized in the twentieth century." (Awake! February 22, 1961, p. 5, article The 20th Century In Bible Prophecy);
or this one:
"That now-operating kingdom in heaven will, within the twentieth century, cleanse the entire earth of wickedness." (Awake! February 22, 1961, p. 7);
Be careful jw in your answers there may be more proof of false prophecy. Just ask please.
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoJehovah's Witness Governing Body NOW says they are 'the faithful and discreet slave'?
•What does this mean as to their claim that there has always been a 'slave' since 33CE?
•If Russell was not considered a part of the 'faithful slave' then how does that affect many doctrines preceeding 1919?
Yesterday at the annual shareholders meeting members of the Governing Body gave talks about this NEW doctrine. See a report of notes taken here:
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoIs there an underlying reason why many doctrines of Jehovah's Witnesses not supported by the bible?
have remained unchanged?
Some of these may be:
••Neutrality, no war.
••Blood transfusions
••The cross
••Disfellowhipping, shunning
••No birthday celebration
The above just a few that have no basis in scripture. Why throughout their history have they not progressed to find that the above are simply ideas of men or man made interpretations of the bible message. What about their organizational set up and training allows them to keep believing unsupported doctrines?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoDoes this forward to the bible book of Matthew in my NIV, increase your faith or perhaps weaken it?
I recently purchase a NIV translation from biblica.com and when about to read Matthew this forward caught my attention:
MATTHEW
“Matthew’s purpose is to show that God has kept his ancient promises to Israel through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus the messiah. The long expected reign of heaven is now coming to earth, bringing the Jewish story to its climax. Matthew begins by highlighting that Jesus was son of David, Israel’s most famous king and the son of Abraham Israel’s famous patriarch. Jesus is the true Israelite and God’s promised messiah.
The Messiah is shown as reliving the story of Israel….going down into the Jordan river, facing temptation in the wilderness, gathering twelve disciples as twelve new tribes, ascending a mountain to deliver a new Torah, etc. The author highlights the idea of Jesus as a new Moses by collecting his teachings into 5 long speeches. These are marked off by some variation of the phrase ‘When Jesus finished saying these things’. Just as the Torah had 5 books, Matthew presents five major sections.
The book culminates by telling how Jesus brought about the great new act of redemption for his people. As in the story of Israel’s Exodus, a Passover meal is celebrated and then deliverance comes. Jesus gives his life for the sake of the world and is then raised from the dead. At the beginning of the book Jesus is given the name Immanuel, meaning ‘God with us’. At the end, Jesus sends his follower into the world with the promise that ‘surely I am with you always’.”
I would enjoy hearing your comments on the above forward to the bible book of Matthew. Do the above statements strengthen or weaken your faith as a christian?? Thanks

7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWas Jesus association with 'sinners' dependent on their individual repentance?
Jehovah's Witnesses excommunicate (disfellowship) those who fall into sin, would Jesus have approved of close family members shunning one another, because of sin?
How should someone trying to follow Jesus example view his own words regarding those who sin:
Dealing With Sin in the Church
15 “If your brother or sister[a] sins,[b] go and point out their fault,(A) just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’[c](B)
Matthew 9:13
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoAre Jehovah's Witnesses like carnival barkers who offer a peek at forbidden fruit only found in THEIR tent?
Not trying to be offensive, but felt the minds picture of a carnival barker got my point across.
The people outside the tent (majority of mankind) who know very little about the future prospect of life after death, can be intrigued or even addicted to a promise of living forever on earth. The price of the ticket to enter the tent, is very high. Does buying the ticket insure that the 'barkers' promises will be realized????
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhat has happened to Sparlock the jw video, are Jehovah's Witnesses placing this cd from door to door?
Usually after summer conventions, many jw come on YA and extol the program and it's new publication releases. What happened this time around? Silence about the new video, and virtually nothing about the program?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWatchtower child abuse award largest ever to a single victim, Watchtower attorney announces appeal?
Could all of this been avoided simply by following Jesus instructions on handling 'sin' in the congregation?
Mathew 18
15 “Moreover, if your brother commits a sin, go lay bare his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take along with you one or two more, in order that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every matter may be established. 17 If he does not listen to them, speak to the congregation. If he does not listen even to the congregation, let him be to you just as a man of the nations and as a tax collector.
If the Watchtower had of taken this matter before the entire congregation, would it have helped to insure this sexual abuse from taking place? The parents of this girl never knew the identity of the abuser, he remained in good standing.

11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhy do some Jehovah's Witnesses start religious websites? Arn't they told not to do so by their leaders?
There is one particular jw at this time (several in the past) who is promoting either his own site or some other jw's. When it has been made clear by his religious leaders that only the official website of jw should answer all questions jw related.
Here is just one of his many spamming answers about this (his/her) website:
"How to recognize counterfeit Christian religions and counterfeit Christians
http://www.counterfeitchristians.info/
You are in the True Christian Faith....it is unfortunate that you cannot see that. It would be foolish of you to leave but the choice is yours. The other faiths have nothing to offer."
