My landlord is in default of his mortgage.
He went into default on Apr 30. I understand he has about 3 to 6 months before it goes to auction.
If we stop paying him rent immediately, does he have legal grounds to evict us before the he loses the house?
He will not return my 4 texts, voice mails.

Additional Details
When I pay the rent to live in THIS house, I expect him to use my $3100.00 payment to him to pay his mortgage on THIS house. Not his personal house. Or credit card bills, or medical bills, whatever. I think his personal expenses directly affect me because I want him to retain ownership of the house he owns and my family and I live in.
Why should I pay him rent when he doesn't use it to keep this house??
He will keep my deposit along with my last months rent and I need to come up with 1st, last and deposit for the new house I need to rent.
