  • In honor of all Vetrans:?

    HEAVEN AND EARTH HAVE SWORN

    by Silvia Margolis

    Like the sorrowful sighing of horns,

    Lo, the slain unceasingly weep;

    Like the mournful moaning of doves,

    Their weeping is solemn and deep;

    Though hid from the land of the living,

    They slumber not, never, nor sleep!

    They are yoked to our greeds and transgressions

    By a new and portentous decree:

    Know ye, heaven and earth have sworn

    War’s dead shall not rest or be free

    Till the living have utterly learned:

    All men are the leaves of One Tree!

  • What do you think about this?

    Let there be no misgivings as to the animating purpose of the world-wide Law of Bahá’u’llah. Far from aiming at the subversion of the existing foundations of society, it seeks to broaden its basis, to remold its institutions in a manner consonant with needs of an ever-changing world. It can conflict with no legitimate allegiances, nor can it undermine essential loyalties. Its purpose is neither

    to stifle the flame of a sane and intelligent patriotism in human hearts, nor to abolish the system of national autonomy so essential if the evils of excessive centralization are to be avoided. It does not ignore, nor does it attempt to supress, the diversity of ethnical origins, of climate, of history, of language and tradition, of thought and habit, that differentiate the peoples and nations of the world. It calls for a wider loyalty, for a larger aspiration than any that has animated the human race. It insists upon the subordination of national impulses, and interests to the imperative claims of a unified world.

  • How does this passage from The Hidden Words of Baha'u'llah strike you?

    O ye that pride yourselves on mortal riches!

    Know ye in truth that wealth is a mighty barrier between the seeker and his desire, the lover and his beloved. The rich, but for a few, shall in no wise attain the court of His presence nor enter the city of content and resignation. Well it is then with him, who, being rich, is not hindered by his riches from the eternal kingdom, nor deprived by them of imperishable dominion. By the Most Great Name! The splendor of such a wealthy man shall illuminate the dwellers of heaven even as the sun enlightens the people of the earth!

  • What do you think of this quote?

    O Dwellers of My Paradise!

    With the hands of loving-kindness I have planted in the holy garden of paradise the young tree of your love and friendship, and have watered it with the goodly showers of My tender grace; now that the hour of its fruiting is come, strive that it may be protected, and be not consumed with the flame of desire and passion.

  • A mini Stonehenge in Reynolds' backyard?

    I want to make a "mini-Stonehenge" in my yard?

    I have been able to download pictures of Stonehenge, but would like to get the dimensions of the area and sizes of the rocks. I am not trying to duplicate it precisely in miniature, and do not care if it faces the proper equinox or whatever, but I would like to have the spacing and size of the rocks in the general relationship to each other of the real ones. Does anyone know where I can get these dimensions? Thanks.

    Yes, I know I'm weird. It just came to me one day that it would be cool.

  • How can I set up a 501c3 web site to answer questions about the "web of life" (interrelationships)?

    Suppose you want to know what are the interrelationships between a particular plant or animal and all other plants and animals that it interacts with. For example, "sow bugs", what do they consume and what "consumes" them? Another example could be a coyote or a grizzly bear. With such a web site one could map the interrelationships, predatory (or predacious), herbivorous, parasitic, and symbiotic of all the organisms that have an impact on the plant or animal (organism) in question.

    Also I need to know how to get the hardware/software to make the web site functional.
