Nigel Evans MP was [rightly] acquitted of some serious sexual offences last week, and has, over the weekend, been making some very loud noises about the fact that he has to be responsible for his own legal fees even though he was proven innocent of all charges.

Sounds like a disgrace, yes? Man has done nothing wrong, and yet faces a bill that would bankrupt the vast majority of people who appear before the Court. But no. He will not get his money back, because there was a recent change in the law that prevented innocent people from obtaining a refund.

That change in the law was passed by Nigel Evans' own party. During the passage through Parliament, Nigel Evans actually made a speech stating that Legal Aid was too expensive, and should be cut and those acquitted of offences should not get there legal expenses back! Two days after his own acquittal, Nigel Evans makes a speech that he should get HIS money back.

Is there anything more gut wrenchingly sickening than the Conservative Party and / or any MP for that matter?

Thatcher dies and there is a party on one side of the country and a wake on the other. Benn dies and everyone seems to agree that he is a loss to humanity.

Why the disparity in such a country which is hardly Socialist? Is it because even Tories and Tory voters (of which I have been one in the past) can see that the man spoke sense where others spouted b*llshit and spin?
