I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I'm 19 years old. I live in Northern USA. I study the Bible with the deaf in American Sign Language (ASL) along with a group of others in my congregation. I work as a CNA to support myself in my ministry. I'm currently learning Nepali. Isaiah 25:8 "He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces. And the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for Jehovah himself has spoken it."

  • ASL interpreters' programs and colleges?

I'm looking into ASL interpreting, and I've been trying to find a program that would be good for me personally. I've been learning ASL for just about a year now, learning from my deaf friend and studying on my own via the Internet. I have good receptive skills and can express myself fairly well in ASL.

My dilemma is that I need to continue my education formally through a college with a program in ASL interpreting.

If you are an interpreter, what were the steps you took to get certified as an interpreter? What were the classes you took in your program? What college did you attend and what college (in the whole country) do you recommend?

    Thanks!

  • What is the difference between LDS and FLDS?

Which one has more members? Do they consider members of the other organization "fellow" Mormons?

    Any information helps.

  • Why won't my iPad 2 won't sync my podcast?

I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses and use American Sign Language and we have a podcast on our website for the Watchtower magazine in ASL.

I download it fine onto my itunes. It plays fine on itunes, but when I sync and unplug, my podcast won't be on my iPad.

    It's an M4V format.

Please help me. Here's the link to the podcast if you need it:

    http://www.jw.org/index.html?option=QrYQFVTrZNT&se...

I can simply download which magazines I want, but I would rather just have the podcast for convenience.

  • Does this scripture imply that Jesus was an angel?

Galatians 4:14 says, "And what was a trial to YOU in my flesh, YOU did not treat with contempt or spit at in disgust; but YOU received me like an angel of God, like Christ Jesus." NWT

"Even though my illness was a trial to you, you did not treat me with contempt or scorn. Instead, you welcomed me as if I were an angel of God, as if I were Christ Jesus himself." NIV

"and though my condition was a trial to you, you did not scorn or despise me, but received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus." ESV

"And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, [even] as Christ Jesus." KJV

  • Jehovah's Witnesses, have you seen the new convention invitation?

    Are you excited???

The pamphlet has the statue in Daniel 2 on it with all of the world powers, except we're missing the toes. There's a bubble with a question mark next to it.

Are you eager for this new light?

  • Jehovah's Witnesses: What would you like to see at the convention this year?

I've been anticipating the new releases (as usual) and was wondering if any of you had any guesses for what the new releases could be.

I was hoping for a new Reasoning book. Don't get me wrong; ours is great, but some new quotes would be nice!

Maybe a new book on Ezekiel? That'd be cool. :)

    Thoughts?

  • Why is Trap Door making things up?

Is this true, what Trap Door said?

"Scooterpoop, there are species that reproduce through homosexual intercourse. Get an education or shut up.

Homosexuality is a sin because people from the Bronze Age couldn't deal with that cultural difference. It's the year 2011. It's time to stop living based on a 2,000 year old fairy tale, people."

  • What does Hebrews 1:5 mean? Is this proof that Jesus could not be Michael?

    Hebrews 1:5

"For to which of the angels did God ever say, 'You are my Son; today I have become your Father'? Or again, 'I will be his Father, and he will be my Son'?"

  • Jehovah's Witnesses: Can you help me with Colwell's Rule/Sharp's Rule?

I spoke to a young man today who said there were no exceptions to these rules, but I've read that there are. Can you help me find some resources on the exceptions to one or both of these rules?

    Thanks!

  • What does "godhead" really mean?

Some use the word "godhead" to mean the trinity.

Is that what the term "godhead" actually means?

  • Were you begotten? Do you know what "begotten" means?

    Were you begotten?

Did you know that Jesus was begotten by God? That means that Jesus had a beginning.

    Colossians 1:15

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation."

    Revelation 3:14

“And to the angel of the congregation in La‧o‧di‧ce′a write: These are the things that the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God"

    What do you think?

  • Trinity: Is it true that God cannot die?

    1. Jesus died. (Matthew 27:50)

    2. God cannot die. (Habakkuk 1:12)

    3. Jesus is not God.

  • Jehovah's Witnesses: Facebook and suggestions from the faithful and discreet slave?

We have had many suggestions to not participate in social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace.

Why is it that YOU PERSONALLY have not taken that advice and/or suggestion from the slave?

If you have taken the suggestion seriously, have you received benefits for that?

  • Christians: Who was Shelah's father?

The Bible says in Genesis 10:24 and Genesis 11:12 that Arpachshad was Shelah's father.

But, at Luke 3:36 it says that Cainan is Shelah's father.

    Is there a discrepancy here?

  • Is Jesus an angel? Is he the "angel of the abyss"?

This question comes up all the time. I'm not sure if this argument has been made before, but here it goes.

Genesis 3:15 is the first prophecy in the Bible. It says that God's seed (Jesus) will bruise the Devil in the head.

Satan and his demons even knew that Jesus was going to do this. They said at Matthew 8:29 "What have we to do with you, Son of God? Did you come here to torment us before the appointed time?"

Now, we know that Jesus will be the one to punish Satan and his demons.

In Revelation, who is depicted as sealing the demons and Satan into the abyss? Revelation 20:1-3 says that it was "an angel."

  • Jehovah's Witnesses: Can you help me out with something?

I asked a question not too long ago about my friend Ryan who had struggled with homosexuality and is now one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He's doing really good still, but I know he struggles all the time and it's really hard for him.

So, my question is: What do you do when you are having a hard time struggling with something? What scriptures do you read? What can he do to build himself up again and to not do something he'll regret later?

He's spoken to the elders, but it's embarrassing for him- and I understand why he'd think that. So I want to be of as much help as possible.

Please, give me LOTS of tips. Besides the things he can do when he's having a hard day, what can I do to help him? What can others do to help him with his struggle?

Thank you, brothers and sisters. :)

  • Final Fantasy XIV: Can someone help me out?

I need help understanding the armory system. I chose to be a botanist to begin with and I'm at level 8 or so.

Now, I'd like to level up my other classes- like weaver, goldsmith, etc. I have the tools for a weaver, but I don't know where to start. How do I use the tools so I can level up?

Is there a place where this is explained? The manual that came with the game is useless and I'm VERY confused and frustrated. There's virtually no help with this game and the actual players are kinda rude.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.
