  • pentecostal upc childhood fear?

When I was a kid I was brought up in the UPC Pentecostal church. I was afraid of everything because just about everything could send you to hell - watching TV, wearing pants (for a female), cutting your hair (female), movies...the list goes on.

I have tried to do some research about other peoples experiences but I get nothing. There is no way I was the only one who went through this!

I would like to know others stories.

  • Meg Whitman for Governor?

Regardless of what party she belongs to...California needs some business sense.

Sure, she will have a battle on her hands...but California is becoming a slum.

    What do other Californians say?

  • I am trying to look for this song that is stuck in my head. I think it is from the 80's but?

could be early 90's. It starts with heavy synthesizer and then to heavy guitars. The words go something like this....love you so...I won't let you go. I know that is VERY little info...but perhaps someone will recognize it???

  • Michael Steele speech, what did you think?

    I personally loved it.

Everything he said was true to the Republican ideals that the words of Jefferson - life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness - does not come from the government!!!

  • Since Obama is on TV so much these days, shouldn't he at least?

Go onto some game shows to raise money?

    For example:

    Deal or no Deal

    Wheel of Fortune

    Jeopardy

    Perhaps some family Feud???

This way it will fill his desire to be seen, be cute, and talk talk talk all the time AND help the recession.

  • This is a serious question.?

How many of you (that have school aged kids) have had their kids talk about how since Obama was elected they are being verbally persecuted or have seen their bus driver or teacher persecuted?

My kids are dealing with a group of kids on the school bus.

I am not trying to stir anything up, it's an honest question.

  • I have seen posters about how the US should get out of the UN?

I know we contribute a LOT of money...but are we getting the bang for the buck?

My Grandma too is screaming all the time that we have no use for the United Nations.

    What do you all think?

  • so we're asked to have an open discussion about race?

How many of you have had this discussion with co-workers or friends?

I know that any conversation I have had with my friends who are the opposite race have not turned out very well.

Most of my friends are not the same color as I am.

What exactly are we supposed to be discussing anyway?

  • what are the differences between british and American thinking?

I have a British friend, and he is apalled at the things I do that are normal for me. Examples are:

watching 2 girls 1 cup and laughing, he thought I was disgusting, but here it is quite famous and laughable.

Letting my kids watch scary movies (12 and 14 yr olds)

Politics that are too numerous to write....

He thinks Americans are quite stupid

How do I argue this to him? I am happy, he is stuffy...AND he is 9 years YOUNGER than me! You would think he would be more liberal in things....but he isn't, except for politics.

    Please help my argument

  • Why is it we can't make jokes during election time?

Ok, did anyone see that Alfred E Smith dinner where McCain and Obama roasted eachother? It was friggin hilarious because they were making jokes and self depreciation. Now, I have seen a few posts about how Michelle Obama reminds people of Aunt Ester...and I laughed like an idiot. Aunt Ester was everyones favorite on Sanford & Son. I don't think it is necessarily an insult because how many fat people you know are called slim? People need to settle down and take some time to appreciate a JOKE. Any thoughts on this? Or will I just be called racist?

  • So when it's FINALLY all over...will we get along with eachother?

Have we destroyed our relationships with our friends and families? Since having a different opinion, I have not been invited for dinner over to my parents home...as I said, it was a different opinion - not a shouting match. Are we so passionate about these candidates that we are willing to say F Off to those who mean so much to us?

Also, I have already cast my vote....can't wait for the day after...wait, I take that back because that will just open up a new can of argument...so let's just say I can't wait for this time next year when the weather is the Hot Topic.
