I ve just moved into a hall of residence at my university. We have internet provided into our rooms via an ethernet socket on the wall, however we do not have any form of wi-fi. The warden says that she got around this by plugging a wifi router into the ethernet socket into the wall. I ve done a bit of poking around on the web, and have found that only cable modems have the direct ethernet input needed (rather than the RJ-11 input found on ASDL routers. My question is, will the configuration of plugging the cable router into such a wall socket, indeed provide wifi internet?

How do Chinese takeaway's get that unique taste?

I've watched a few videos from chef's who work within Chinese takeaways and they use sugar, salt & MSG, whereas when cooking a Chinese dish at home you wouldn't use these ingredients.

So is the secret to the particular Chinese takeaway taste is to just use Sugar, Salt & Mono-Sodium Glutamate?

Who are your five most influential electronic music producers/bands/artists and why?

Mine:

1) Deadmau5- Basically re-invented progressive house (and dance music in general) for people who'd never listened to dance music before. Many of my friends (who are metalheads) think that deadmau5 is amazing. Also he pioneered (or popularized) the side chained chord plucky baseline. Strobe is also one of my personal electronic music masterpieces

2) Daft punk- Pioneerd a whole new genre of house music, the french filter house style. Again another of those EDM artists for people who don't like dance music. Also they have heavily influenced many of todays big dance artists; zedd, justice etc

3) The Prodigy- Best rave act ever, and also one of the few electronic artists who can fill a stadium, and be as exciting as a fully blown band. Appealed to both dance music fans, rock fans and metal fans. Many of my friends (who are metalheads) do not release they are listening to electronic music, which just shows how wider appeal they have

4) Massive Attack- One of the few artists who can effectively utilize slow dance music, but still be interesting, due to the excellent songwriting and production. Teardrop and unfinished sympathy are both included in my list of electronic music masterpieces,

5) The Chemical Bothers- High energy, pulse racing music. Another electronic artist who can fill up a stadium and still be as exciting as a rock band

In the common room, the main genres that are played are grime, rap, dubstep and rock. Nobody likes any form of EDM apart from dubstep and DnB and of course deadmau5 (As he's considered to be cool, and not a 'nerd techno' producer)

I played southern sun by Paul Oakenfold, and was greeted with comments such as 'what the f**k is this s**t, from many of the metal fans.

Seriously why do teenagers disrespect trance/progressive. Why is dubstep and DnB 'cool'?

Why do so many girls like bands like Blink 182?

For me I just find it a little shallow; the vocals are fairly weak and consist of fairly childish topics that don't really mean any thing.

That is only my opinion being a huge trance, DnB, house and progressive fan. (Real stuff like above and beyond, deadmau5, paul van dyk, sub focus, sean tyas and atb; not cascada, scooter or skrillex)

I'm not being critical, i'm just interested to see what the attraction and draw is. After all music is for your personal enjoyment and you shouldn't criticize what other people enjoy

Transporter 3 <Didn't Like it, mainly because of the stupid Russian woman, the first one and second one were better

Quantum of solace < Hated it, the whole movie was soulless (Probably down to a poor screenplay due due to a writers strike) and possibly the worst bond film ever

Deja vu <Average- Didn't understand the movie and found it a bit boring

2 Fast 2 Furious- A huge let-down from the quality of fast and furious. The whole concept of being fired from the police was terrible

Finally....

The main reason i am upgrading to ivybridge, rather than sandybridge is becuase of PCI-E 3.0 compatibilty. If there was a way of making pci-e 3.0 work with sandybridge, would this be a better option?
