I just moved into a very old house which has never had cable TV/internet and has no jacks for it that I can see. Comcast's website allowed me to schedule an installation for next week, but I'm worried that they won't be able to do anything (and I've already bought a cable modem.) FYI I think there is cable tv in the *neighborhood* but they would probably have to run it from outside.

I ran over the cable with my chair and want to purchase a replacement but can't find a web site to order from. Easy points!

I just went through annualcreditreport.com to check my credit score. I looked at the Experian report and saw that it seems to contain both my account information and my parents' accounts as well. I don't live with them or anything (I'm 24) and I'm a little confused. My father and I have the same name, which could also be causing the problem. Any ideas how I can get this sorted out?

I started getting sick last night and threw up before I went to bed. I woke up vomiting this morning (green bile) and have thrown up probably 7 or 8 times today, always within 30-45 minutes of drinking any fluids. I haven't been able to keep any food or water down in about 24 hours now.

How long should I wait to see if I get better before I go to the hospital? I hate hospitals. :(

I'm a college student and one of my hallmates was talking today about trading stocks a lot but that he didn't have to file taxes because he was otherwise unemployed and had an overall capital loss. Is that true? We were talking and I figured I'd ask on here if anyone knew. He says because he doesn't owe taxes he doesn't have to file, but I'm pretty sure that his broker would have reported the sales to the IRS.

Anyway, if he does need to file, what is the penalty for filing 2008 taxes now?

Hi, I recently added ringback tones to my verizon account, and purchased a song i wanted to use. So I went into the vzw tones program and set it as 'default', but when people call, they still get the classical song anyway. It's been two days and I've tried resetting it a couple times with no luck. What am I missing?

I'm a 23/m, 5' 10." About six months ago, I was a very hefty 300lbs. I had been heavy most of my life, but it seemed to get a lot worse in college (drinking, poor sleep habits, poor diet, general laziness, etc.) Since then, though, without changing ANYTHING, the weight seems to be melting off. Today I weighed in at 220 lbs, which is still heavy for my frame, but a looooot better than 300lbs.

The problem is, I haven't been doing anything to warrant the weight loss. I've been doing quite a bit of walking, but that's about it as far as exercise goes, and diet-wise I have improved my diet some, but not enough for this kind of dramatic weight loss. I'm in grad school, and when I came home for break, my parents were completely floored by the weight loss. But I don't know why its happening.

Normally I wouldn't complain, but I've been feeling very weak and tired over that period, and after I had elevated blood pressure at my last GP visit, I got a bp / pulse monitor, which consistently puts my pulse in the 90-100+ range but with relatively normal BP (between 115/75 and 128/86 depending on time of day.) I am worried that if I go to the doc, they're going to 'fix' me and I'll put the weight right back on. I've never succeeded with diets or workout routines, so this came as a blessing. But i don't know whether whatever is happening to me is worse for my health than being 300lbs!

Any feedback or ideas would be much appreciated...

I have been feeling weak and dizzy off and on for probably 3-4 weeks. I was talking with some friends and one who's a med student suggested that I go get my blood pressure taken. So I went and it was a little high (124 / 82) but close enough to normal.

My heart rate scared me though. It was 103. I wasn't nervous or anything. So I got a BP / heart rate monitor and I've been watching it, and it's consistently 90-110. BP fluctuates between 110 / 70 and 130 / 90 ish depending on time of day.

Should I go to the doctor? And what type of doc would I make an appt with? GP?

I'm in grad school now but my undergrad is in Spanish and I'm fluent reading/writing. I was thinking about what kind of job to get and I decided to try tutoring middle/high school students or anyone who wanted to work on the language.

My first question is what an average hourly fee is, and secondly what sort of certification I would need to do (I'm in Indiana). If anyone has / is doing tutoring your insight would be much appreciated. :)

I have been having issues playing some games such as age of conan, and I thought that my power supply was a likely culprit. So I downloaded Speedfan and took a look at the readings. The temperatures are all good, but here are the voltages:

Vcore1: 1.33V

Vcore2: 1.18V

3.3V: 3.31

5V: 4.97V

12V: 12.22V

-12V: -9.23V

-5V: -0.73V

5V: 5.03V

Vbat: 3.09V

I don't know enough about the hardware to know if those seemingly low voltages on the -12V and -5V rails are bad or not, which is why I'm asking. And if so, what could be a cause and what could be a solution? Thanks!

I have been taking adderall for a while, but right now I am not living where my doctor is, and for whatever reason he has not been reachable by phone for a few days and I am almost out. I know that he said it is a class-something scheduled narcotic and that's why I can never have a refill on it.

Is there a way for me to get a temporary refill, even if it's only for a couple of days? I always get it filled at CVS so their records will show that I have been getting the same script for about 6 months. I only have I think one day's worth left, and since my doc can't phone in the script because it's scheduled, he would have to mail it to me or something I suppose, which would take several days.

Or could I go to a doc-in-a-box and have them access my medical records?

I am at a university and I am sort of a privacy nut. I got a premium subscription to Secure Tunnel, a proxy/encryption service. Whatismyip.com shows one of ST's proxys as my IP, and when I tried some 'how secure is my proxy/browser' tests it came back "elite proxy" or something like that.

But when I'm on a website, say microsoft.com, the bottom of my browser says it's transferring data from microsoft.com, not the tunnel or proxy. Is that normal for a setup like this? I have software that intercepts my traffic and encrypts/decrypts it supposedly. Can my incoming packets still be read and identified?

I was making a Uturn, the guy in front of me tried to make the u-turn as well, but couldn't make it so he went into reverse and hit the front of my car, bending the hood and knocking my somewhat loose.

I got his plate number, make, color, and a description, before he sped off, and another couple who I didn't know pulled over and had the same info, gave me their business card/info. I am only 22 and have never been involved in anything like this, and so stupidly I drove home about 1/2 mile away and called the police, who told me to drive my car in to file a complaint. I filled out the paperwork, described the incident, listed witnesses and the guy's license plate and info.

The officer told me that there wasn't a lot that could be done, and that the form would only go to insurance because I didn't sit and wait for an officer to come. I feel really stupid now, but I figured since it was only a fender bender I should call it in.

Anyone have some insight/info or similar experience?

My gaming rig is beginning to age (it sucks to be a poor grad student!) and now that I've gotten into Age of Conan I really want to up my framerate and see all the visual goodies, so I'm going to replace the gfx card. I have only ever worked with nVidia, but after doing research and talking to friends, I want to get the ATI Radeon HD 4850 - seems like a great bang/buck ratio. Plus I'm an AMD fanboy, and since they bought ATI... =)

I just want to know for sure if it will work on my nForce 4 mobo, and whether I'll see a performance loss, because I'm ordering it from newegg (of course!). Obviously it won't do crossfire, but I only need one card at the moment.

I was looking at my CPU-Z results yesterday and noticed something peculiar. It shows my graphics card model/memory correctly, but it says that it is on a PCI-E x2 bus, which didn't make any sense. But I figured it was a misread until I went into 'dxdiag' and saw that indeed DirectX thinks that it is on a x2 bus as well. I tried the other slot (I'm on an SLI mobo) and after restarting, same result.

My question is 1) Is there a way to troubleshoot this, and 2) could it be impacting my performance?

I was thinking about it today, and if I were him I would be scared of all the right-wing whackos (KKK and whatnot). Kennedy was assassinated and the only difference with him was the fact that he was Catholic. Obama has his color and his name working against him, and honestly I give him props for standing in the spotlight all the time. He's got a lot of enemies!

Everywhere else on Yahoo answers categories are separate (Desktop Computers, Laptop Computers, and Software each have their own categories.) Why is it that questions involving Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Atheism, and everything else are all thrown together? It seems hard to get productive discourse because there are too many people jumping on each question and bickering at one another.

I have been in the market for a laptop for a while, and I keep coming back to the M1530. The problem is that it feels expensive, and for whatever reason the available options are both grossly overpriced and outdated. (The best video card option is the 8600 GT, and it costs an arm and a leg to get a 7200 RPM hard drive for some reason.) Also, the DDR2 is only @667 MHz. Does anyone know whether this model will be getting new components, or is it just going to stay as-is and get cheaper? I like the chassis a lot, it's the innards I'm not crazy about. =)

I have accumulated quite a lot of DivX movies, and it has always been fine for me to leave them in the DivX *.avi* format because I have an HDMI-out from my PC's video card, and I just watch it on my HDTV like that and it works great. But I am trying to find a way to make DivX playable by DVD players that don't have DivX codec support.

My PC currently has an Ubuntu Linux / Winblows XP / Vista (ugh) tri-boot, so any software you know of I can probably run.

I assume that it would have to be decompressed onto a blank DVD, but if there's a way to do it on CD of course that would be better and cheaper. Thanks!
