Is it me? Maybe not; but then...

  • Vauxhall Astra electrical problem (UK)?

I have a 1994 Vauxhall Astra which despite being well past the UK government's 'scrap by' date has only done 73,000 miles and is a clean and normally reliable car.

This morning it developed a fault however. Whenever I go much past 30 mph the alternator warning light starts flickering. More worrying still is the fact that at 45 mph the air bag warning light flashes and stays on steadily at 50 mph.

My first thought was the alternator drive belt but that seems reasonably tight and there is no sign of overheating (the same belt drives the water pump). Any ideas? I have most tools including a voltmeter but no idea of what voltage I should expect from the alternator.

  • Eagles track question?

Did the Eagles ever sing 'Running on Empty'?

If they did can you tell me what album it was on?

  • Has anyone had success with a CSA complaint?

After 12 years of fighting the UK Child Support Agency I've made a complaint against them and am seeking damages of £10,000 plus.

I'm beginning to think I'm finally winning but would like to hear from anyone who has succeeded in a CSA complaint. How far up the complaint ladder did you have to go before getting success?

  • Mortality risk of accidental death?

Assuming that all other causes of death did not apply could anyone tell me how long an average human could expect to live before being killed by an accident?

    My calculations say 1729 years.

  • Has anyone got any good alternative uses for old CD/DVDs? ?

I have hundreds of them lying around. from old magazine disks to long since updated software. Surely there must be alternative uses for them ( I already have enough wind chimes/mobiles)
