  • I hurt my knee yesterday?

Ok, I had a slight accident yesterday. I was walking and trying to cross the street and I tripped and fell on the median. When I fell, I came down on my left knee really hard and kind of twisted my ankle. An ambulance was called and I was checked out on the spot...there was no swelling or no broken bones. I received an ice pack to place on my knee. The EMT said it could just be a bone bruise but nothing serious in his opinion. I decided not to go to the hospital since it didn't seem to be a problem. When I got home, I iced it again, elevated the leg and noticed that my knee all the way to my toes began to swell. I still didn't go to the hospital because the pain wasn't that bad, only when I tried to bend the knee or sit in a chair that was too low. When I woke up this morning, the swelling went down, but it's still there a tiny bit. My leg doesn't hurt at all, except when I try to bend it to a 90 degree angle. But now I notice when I walk, the knee feels like it has something in it (i don't think it's fluid, but not sure) and I feel a lot of pressure on it when I walk. With all that said, I am now considering going to the hospital, but wanted to know if anyone had the same symptoms? Do you think I will need surgery on my knee?
