  • life span for mono-filament fishing line?

have some unopened packs of fishing line (Stren) that I bought and put in tackle boxes about 20 years ago. Finally ready to start fishing again and I hate to throw away 1,000 yards of line if still good. Original un-opened packages closed up in tackle boxes and stored in garage.

  • AR-15, Bushmaster or DPMS? Looking for entry level AR-type rifle.?

Wal-Mart has started carrying a few AR type rifles and they have a good price on BushMaster M4 type. Have heard good things about DPMS Sportical. And looks like new Mossberg might be worth looking at. Would appreciate comments from anyone who has actual experience. Thanks.

  • Good heavy duty 2-1/2" or less pocket knife?

blade length no more than 2-1/2", heavy duty, thumb stud for easy one hand opening or assisted but with good lock so it doesn't open when I don't want it to, Needs pocket clip for easy access, prefer plain edge but could live with half serrations, Gerber has one I may have to live with, not real happy with Kershaw and Benchmade does not have short enough blade

asked this before but it ended up in toys

  • unused prosthetics - best way to get rid off?

have prosthetic hand that I received in 1965 and a special prosthetic "hook" that I got in late 1980's so I could go bow hunting

don't use either and would like to do something with them

would like to donate or something (would like to get tax credit because they were not cheap) but local shop only said to give the prosthetics to them and they would donate to charity. Does anyone know best way to make the donation? I'll admit I thought about putting on ebay just for the heck of it but really would like to see them go to someone who might need them

  • What anti-gun move will the new administration / congress move on first and what will be your planned response?

I' m figuring assault weapons ban in first six months if not first week since it is already in place

    Ammo next

will soon start in courts so that by the time they work their way up to supreme court it will be far enough out that the new left court will be in power

What do you think will happen? What is your plan?

for the anti's out there - it is not just the guns - its the Freedom and Constitution I'm concerned about

I hope and pray everyday that the new administration will succeed and do great good for this nation. Some think anything would be better than what W did (inexperienced and or ignorant) and I hope Obama is better for the USA than W but I have to wait and see

  • Obama & McCain - what do you fear if your candidate loses.?

Remember in many ways that it is not the President who controls - his greatest power may be his veto. Taxes and spending really are in the control of Congress. So what do you fear the man you oppose will do if he is elected. Please try to keep it simple.

I fear the following things if Obama is elected:

    1. He will appoint Supreme Court justices who will follow the lead of their existing liberal judges who have ruled against citizens having the right to own firearms and who have ruled that governments can take private property to give to private companies to generate tax revenues.

    2. He will sign legislation that will virtually do away with the right to own or use a firearm.

    3. He will put in place a costly and bureaucratic health care system that will bankrupt the country and well as provide limited and poor care. WHAT does the government do well?

    4. He will reinstate the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" which means you will hear what he wants you to hear on radio. Liberal talk radio had its shot with Air America and it failed miserably. So to defeat conservative talk radio, they will simply ban it or litigate it off the airways.

    What do you fear?

  • would anyone change their mind?

Obama supporters don't seem to mind his relationship with Bill Ayers - whatever that relationship was. Would anyone change their mind if Ayers was not called a "domestic terrorist" (probably considered to just be synonym for 60's radical) but was described as a man who tried to burn a 9 year old boy to death because he was mad at his father and who tried to kill a woman and her baby.

Those are some of the things he is given credit for as part of his or his organization's admitted bombings. And he said he wished he had done more. And the reason he wasn't convicted and sent to prison was only because the authorities screwed up their paperwork on a wiretap and the evidence couldn't be used.

I wouldn't be in the same room as the man but I guess folks in Illinois don't think like I do. I guess they are used to people like this in their politicians and educators

  • Would you take the shot?

You're crossing an open field with waist high grass and are about 20 yards from the nearest tree. You see an average size white tail buck about 250 yards away in grass up to his belly. You are carrying an accurate bolt action rifle with variable scope sighted 3" high at 100 yards. Load is Remington 165 gr Swift Scirocco bullet.

  • Fresh mulch from chipping up tree just cut - is it safe to use immediately in flower bed?

Having one dead tree and one dying tree cut next week. They will run limbs through chipper as they clean up. Also putting new shrubbery in and need a lot of mulch. Thinking about using the stuff from chipper but seem to remember hearing that is not a good idea. Maybe gets to hot. Anyone have experience or know whether or not this would be ok around new shrubs?

Does anyone know if you can get Verizon signal on AT in GSMNP - especially in area of Spence Field and Russell Field Shelters?

will be up there in few weeks and would like to be able to check in but rather not carry the weight if it won't work. Most lower ares will not receive signal but I thought ridge line might.

  • Would this make you irritated and make you avoid company?

    Years ago, I bought a T/C Contender with a T/C pistol scope.

Sold Contender but buyer didn't want scope. Scope had rail mounting system. T/C no longer makes that kind of mount for their firearms or any others. I now have very expensive paperweight with a life time warranty.

Bought Dan Wesson revolver (removeable barrel). Of course they went out of business but are now back in business. Wrench required for tightening or removing barrel was partially plastic and broke. Apparently the new company provides no support or service for older guns and does not respond to correspondence.

I'm not inclined to do business with either company.

healthy 24 year old male, flu like symptoms, 10 hours ago started fever, went up to around 103 F, alternated dose of aspirin and Tylenol, dropped to normal about 4 hours ago, just checked at 95 degrees F, awake, coherent, recent heavy sweat in sleep, doesn't appear to be cold but did wrap up in blanket, usually worry about high fever, should I be concerned

  • How does recoil & muzzle blast of 32 H&R mag & .327 Fed mag compare to .38 Spec?

looking for revolver for wife. Standard 158 gr in .38 spec in steel J-frame bother her. Target .22 revolver is too heavy. Thinking about trying j-frame in one of the .32's or trying .22 mag. Hope she will move up as she gets more experience. Not interested in auto - all I have are too hard to work slide or recoil too much

  • We know about Bill's morals but what about Hillary's?

Now that I may have your attention - A friend is supporting Obama and gives one reason that he thought Hillary had not been faithful to Bill. He said that something Juanita Broderick said Bill told her proved it. I didn't ask for details, especially since he voted for Bill twice - go figure. But it made me think of real question - Does anybody really care whether their candidate - male or female, Republican or Democrat - has the morals of an alley cat (forgive me cat lovers). I think we have reached point where nobody cares on either side. What do you think?
