  • Should I quit my job?

I've been on the edge about this, and it seems like a good idea to go with my gut instinct.

(sorry for the long post in advance)

I started working at Dollar General last Friday, almost a week ago. It's been hell ever since. Today was my fourth day working and I already am just overwhelmed by it. I don't feel like it's for me, but then again I feel like a lot of people hate their job and I should just toughen up.

The shifts only consist of one manager and one sales associate (cashier, which is my position). I basically do what the manager does: stock shelves, put up stickers, get baskets, recover items on shelves, and things like that but then I also have to run to the front every two seconds to make sure no one is at the register ready to check out. It's just a lot of work on my feet and legs. I even got shoes with good support and it doesn't help that when I get home after eight hours of running around, my feet are just throbbing as well as my legs and I'm just ready to go to bed only to wake up and do the same thing tomorrow.

A lot of little things just keep overwhelming me like the fact that I could be short or over in my register on money, when the line is really long, when the manager is nowhere to be found or contacted when in need, when I urgently need coins or certain bills, etc. It's just a lot of take care of for only making $7.50 an hour. I can go get a job at a cash advance and sit down all day and make $11. I don't know why that wasn't my first choice. I figured getting a job right down the road from my house at DG wouldn't be too bad. I just have a lot of responsibilities and it stresses me out.

I also have two online stores that I manage in my spare time and have to make custom items for, which hasn't been working out this week because I've just been exhausted or at work at Dollar General. I have absolutely no problems with any of my managers or co-workers, I just am getting too stressed out. Maybe I need to look elsewhere at a place that suits me better, but I'm not 100% just yet.

Any ideas or past experiences you can share?

  • How come christians...?

As a christian, I mainly answer questions in the religion and spirituality section here on Yahoo! and I see a lot of christians answer questions and they are extremely rude sometimes. God says that you should witness and explain and answer with kindness and respect, so why do you act so rude to non-christians sometimes? If I were the non-christian and a christian person answered my questions rudely, I wouldn't want to come to God. I would think that all christians were rude and that I wouldn't want to become that. So please be more kind when answering for God's sake, so that way maybe more people will come to know him.
