For my medicals, the vision acuity portion was accomplished by looking into a microsope-looking device that projected squares with patterns in them and I had to identify which corner had the differing pattern. Anybody know the name of this new test?

I know the Grumman F-11 Tiger was the first aircraft to have shot itself down, but were there other instances of such (hilarious) events with other aircraft?

Just considering all my options, so I'm looking to bounce some ideas off you folks.

I'm not looking for total annihilation of the toilet, just a explosion like reaction will suffice.

Before I commit 50 to a hundred dollars worth towards the purchase of pure sodium, any of you have any better/cheaper ways to create such a high energy reaction in a toilet bowl with water?

People have motion sickness because their brain gets confused with all the contradicting sensory inputs from sight, feel and inner ear. Because of the contradicting information the brain thinks that the body has ingested something toxic and causes us to spew.

It seems to me that everybody has this contradicting set of sensory inputs. So how come certain people don't get motion sickness?

Examples:

Terrorists/bomb on plane

Planes falling out of sky

Mid-air collisions

Turbulence

Takeoff

Landing

Night flight

Bad Weather

Etc.

Include details if you'd like.

Very seriously, is there really no synonym of the word synonym?

Just looking for some nice and catchy ones for a script I'm writing.

The lower left part of my back hurts when I bike. (where my back meets my waist.)

Why?

Any way of fixing this problem or preventing it short of stopping to bike?

I do bike very very fast, but if I bike slower, it just starts hurting later.

Doesn't anyone find it fishy that despite what NASA, STRATCOM and other space agencies calls "a very low risk" and "the risk is considered very low", two satellites just happened to collide very spectacularly, and not just a glancing blow.

There is lots of space junk in orbit, but relatively few satellites. How come two of them just happened to hit each other so accurately?

Anybody think it may be the US trying to disable a Russian spy satellite before it uncovered something important? A anti satellite missile launch would be detected visually and by radar by countries all over the world. Making a very old, near-worthless satellite take out another may not be such a crazy proposition in this case.

The Cold war is over you say, but still, it doesn't mean the US isn't testing out a new improvised satellite weapon. After all, there are more and more old defunct satellites in orbit, most with a small amount of maneuvering fuel left, the US might as well take the hint from Iraq and create some ISKs of their own. (Improvised satellite killers)

This may actually be a salvage of the "star wars" plan they were floating around to scare the USSR during the Cold War.

What are your theories?

My old From the ground up has finally fallen apart. (if there's one problem with FTGU, it's the poor quality of the glue only binding)

I can't seem to find a Canadian edition of FTGU (i think the most recent edition is called millennium edition) on the internet for ordering.

Can anyone help? It isn't in most book stores either.

actually, I know they still do have their tailhooks and launch bars but does RCAF actually sometimes fly them off carrier? (maybe during training with the US?)

I doubt they are since carrier landings require a whole set of new skills but I would like a definitive answer.

(and yes, I know Canada does not have any aircraft carriers---but are they or have they ever, been landed and launched from a carrier?)

I've tried every trick in the book to find out if you're goofy or regular.

It's always my right foot.

But when I'm on the slopes, i'm slightly less adept at maneuvering with my right foot leading. Both are okay,, i fall slightly more often with the right one leading.

Should I just go ahead and use my left to lead?

I'm a beginner, new to snowboarding.

stomp pad is a grip to place your free foot while getting off lift.

I've read you don't really need this if you don't want to ruin your graphics.

I'd rather not get one, will I be okay getting off the lift? Is it harder or unsafe? Where do you put your foot if you don't have one?

and I just heard a guy flying in a 182 requesting landing?! I've been a pilot for some time now, so I'm used to listening to ATC talk, and I'm sure I haven't misheard. Would it even be possible to land in those winds in a 182? his ground speed would be around 20 knots? How would you taxi in those winds?
