Muslims, what did Jesus mean when He said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM"?
John 8:52-59 states,
And I do not seek My own glory; there is One who seeks and judges. Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death.”
Then the Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You have a demon! Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and You say, ‘If anyone keeps My word he shall never taste death.’ Are You greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. Who do You make Yourself out to be?”
Jesus answered, “If I honour Myself, My honour is nothing. It is My Father who honours Me, of whom you say that He is your God. Yet you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I say, ‘I do not know Him,’ I shall be a liar like you; but I do know Him and keep His word. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.”
Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”
Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

I (as a Christian) think that he was a false prophet / false teacher who excessively gratified the flesh.
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoMuslims, why do you listen to your Muslim elders about spiritual matters rather than ...?
from Christian evangelists?
I have considered Islam for many years but, in comparison to the Bible & the Protestant Christian faith, I see many flaws & failings in Islam!!
Unlike the Christian faith, there is NO Saviour who died on the cross, shed His precious blood & paid for the sins of Muslims. There is no salvation by grace alone for Muslims. There is no assurance of eternal life for Muslims. Muslims simply follow a series of dead works similar to those of the Mosaic law; the religious law of Moses which Jesus Christ perfectly fulfilled. No need any longer to be circumcised. No need to abstain from pork. No need to pray at specific times, facing the direction of particular cities. No need to fast with pained expressions in the presence of everyone else (fasting & prayer should be carried out in secret).
Islam has rejected the New Covenant established by the Lord Jesus Christ & has opted instead for a far inferior alternative that will only lead to hell & death. Doesn't this make you interested in the Lord Jesus Christ & His New Covenant of divine grace? Does this not interest you, dear Muslim, in changing your religion & give you a desire to become a Christian?
Remember that there are many Christians in Pakistan, in Bangladesh, in Iran & in the Arab world, why don't you join them?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoMuslims, why do you have such a closed mind to criticism of your religion?
The superiority of the Christian faith (incidentally, I am referring to Bible based, evangelical faith not pagan Roman Catholicism) over Islam seem obvious. Yet, millions of Muslims refuse to seriously investigate the Christian faith but prefer to remain ignorant of it - why is this?
Jesus Christ sealed salvation through His blood & His body crucified on the cross. Jesus' death & His subsequent resurrection paid for the sins of ANYONE who is humble enough to come before God & ask for forgiveness through the death of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
The Bible states that at the time of Jesus death, the curtain of the Temple was miraculously torn in two from top to bottom & those who had died during the time of the Old Covenant were also raised to life.
600 years later, Mohammed came along & attempted to re-impose a form of the Old Covenant, a failed covenant which had been surpassed through Jesus Christ's death on the cross! Mohammed tried to re-impose a ban on eating pork when, following Jesus resurrection, Jesus stated that ALL foods are now good to eat. He likewise re-imposed the practice of circumcision & the praying at specific times or facing specific cities; these are Old Covenant & has been dealt with at the cross.
The original Koran was written in Cufic Arabic. Cufic Arabic is a form of Arabic lacking vowels. No-one therefore knows what the original Koran was meant to say because it's rendition into more modern Arabic (containing vowels) has lead to two interpretations. Up until 90 years ago, there were two Korans, the North African Koran & the Saudi Koran - which Koran do Muslims consider to be right? Would an Almighty God leave a most holy book open to such ambiguity??
The way forward is to read the Bible & seek God wholeheartedly recognising that God loves you & sent His precious Son to die for your sins. May God bless you as you seek the truth.
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoMuslims, if pigs have always been unclean animals, why did Noah allow a pair of pigs into his Ark .....?
The issue of pigs, pig's meat products and pig's skin products could have been dealt with at the Flood by Noah refusing entry to the pigs. Why didn't he?
Alternatively, if Jesus' died on the cross for the sins of the world cancelling out the need to be OUTWARDLY & SYMBOLICALLY clean by what we eat & how we wash, He was able to cleanse our HEARTS from sin, giving us an inner cleanliness that would otherwise not have been possible.
This means that since God instituted the New Covenant through Jesus' payment for our sins, mankind has been at liberty to eat pork, bacon & ham without causing God any offence. So looking at these matters from a Christian perspective, there was good reason for Noah to allow pigs into his Ark.

What is behind the enormous growth of evangelical Protestant churches in many parts of Africa, Asia & Latin America? Is it genuinely the move of the Holy Spirit or is it simply the desire of these people to conform with the type of churches found throughout the Anglo-Saxon English speaking world (viz. the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand)?

A few years ago, I put together a thread on the Yahoo UK message board explaining my objections to Darwinistic evolution. As a former believer in evolution, I became a creationist whilst I was an undergraduate geology student. 35 years on, I am no more convinced by evolution. Muslims know exactly what their book says? If we take one particular word in English such as 'bad', then that would have been expressed as 'bd' which could have meant bad, or bed, or bid, or bod, or bud.

8 AnswersCivic Participation9 years agoFloral tributes at locations where fatal accidents have occurred?
In the United Kingdom (& in other countries?) it has become common for people to leave flowers at crash sites where motorists / pedestrians have been killed. These tributes seem to have been laid out as a religious duty. Since there is no Biblical basis for doing this, I would be interested in knowing what religious philosophy could be behind this practice.

5 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoMuslims, what basis do you have that the Christian's New Testament has been changed?
I've heard Muslims say, on several occasions, that the New Testament has been changed. What evidence (historical, archaeological or otherwise) do you have for believing this? If I told you, as a Christian, that the New Testament makes perfect sense & that a partly changed book wouldn't, could you accept that the New Testament that Christians read is still in its original form?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoMuslims, why are you happy to use Bible verses when you perceive they support your religion .......?
but when Christians show you verses that point to the Deity of Jesus Christ or that Jesus did actually die on the cross, you say that these verses have been changed?
When were these verses changed?
Why would Christians want to believe in the Deity of Christ, the payment of sins through Jesus DEATH on the cross & the existence of the Trinity unless they were true?
Why, as Muslims seem to want to believe, would early Christians want to hide behind a partly true but altered religion?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoTravel by surface transport from England to Spain & then by air to Mexico?
I would like to know how practical it could be to travel by train from my home town in England to the English south coast, to then take a ferry to France and then travel by train (perhaps through Paris) to Madrid. From Madrid, I would want to take a flight to Mexico City
I could consider taking a ferry from Plymouth (or somewhere nearby) to a port on the northern Atlantic coast of Spain, then take a train to Madrid. I would NOT consider using the Channel Tunnel as I consider it unsafe & politically object to its existence.
With the volcanic ash currently residing over much of the United Kingdom, I would appreciate any advice into these travel plans. Thank you.

9 AnswersOther - Sports1 decade agoWhy do so few Islamic doctrines relate to teaching found in the Bible?
Let me explain myself. Islam claims to respect Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, Solomon, Elijah, Elisha and Jesus. These are men of God whose lives are recorded in the Bible and who have all contributed to shaping Christian doctrine and, with the exception of Jesus, Judaeic doctrine.
Yet, to my knowledge, Islam accepts only THREE practices that can in anyway, be found in the Bible - abstaining from pork, male circumcision and, when killing an animal for consumption, the draining of blood out of an animal's body at the time of slaughter.
On top of this, Islam has many other doctrines that have nothing to do with the Bible, nor even the spirit in which the Bible is written. There are NO prophetic references in the Bible to Mohammed nor to the city of Mecca. Does this not prove that Islam is NOT an Abrahamic religion, has nothing to do with the Judaeo-Christian God but rather, points to Islam having its origins within the pagan, polytheistic belief systems of the Arabian peninsula?
