  • Anti-depression medication stopped working...?

I've been taking citalopram (Celexa) for about a month now. I started taking it for depression and anxiety attacks. The first month, I really noticed a change and honestly felt better than I had in a long time. Then, all of the sudden, I had a major anxiety attack while at work. The next day, my mood was up and down all day, and the last two days, I've been feeling pretty depressed. The good feelings I had the first month have just kind of disappeared. Has anyone else had this happen? Is it common or uncommon for it to work fine, and then just stop?

I'm not sure if I need to have my doctor up my dosage or trying something else. But, I've had very few side effects so far, and I don't want to risk more side effects, but I also don't want to feel awful...

  • How do I deal with very noisy neighbors?

I have new neighbors upstairs from me, with a 4 year old child. He is constantly running back and forth in the apartment, literally all day long. Now, I know that kids will be kids, and that there is not a lot that can be done, but wouldn't the noise created by this be considered just as unlawful as blarring a television too loud? Am I beyond reason if I think I should call the cops after the problem is not resolved? I have talked to the landlord, who has spoken to her. I wrote her a letter, and I have spoken to her in person. She apologizes for the noise, but it doesn't stop. I know kids will be kids, and having upstairs neighbors has it's own set of problems, but the constant running, I believe, is beyond the scope of what is acceptable if you are living in an apartment community.

What course of action do I have? She has heard the noise, apologizes, and then it still continues.

I can't afford to move, and I've lived here for 2 years, and she's lived here for a week and 1/2. Are there any recourses I have?

  • Why can't he remember things?

I'm not sure if my boyfriend just isn't listening or he just really has THAT bad of a memory. He just can't seem to remember details about anything. I know that possibly it bothers me because I have an amazing memory.

I tell him things and sometimes days later, he doesn't even remember having the conversation. The thing is, I'm pretty sure he's listening because he is fully engaged in the conversation, not just nodding and saying "Mhm." He's actually asking questions, responding, etc.

It is really frustrating for me to have to go back and have the same exact conversation later with him. It makes me feel like he's not listening the first time, even though I'm pretty sure its just his memory that is horrible, as it has shown up in other ways.

Could there be something wrong with him, if the memory is that bad?

  • Christmas present for someone you've never met?

My boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship. I live in the US and he lives in the UK. I would like to get his parents something for Christmas, the problem is, I have never met them.

I want it to be something that is not too personal, because I really don't know much about them, as I've not met them. However, I don't want it to be completely impersonal, like a gift card.

Also, shipping is an issue since it has to be shipped overseas, so nothing too heavy.

If anyone had any good ideas on presents, I would love to hear them!

  • Getting a masters after being out of school 4 1/2 years?

I am considering going to Grad School after being out of college for 4 1/2 years. I have a bachelors in History, but would like to go back to school and get my Master's degree in Anthropology or History.

The problem is, most schools require having some sort of written letter of referral from professors. I have been out of school for 4 1/2 years, and don't live in the same town that I went to school in.

Even if any of my professors did remember me, or I sent them some of my work, it has been such a long time since they have had me as a student, and so I wouldn't feel comfortable asking for a referral from them. It just seems like too much time has passed for them to be an accurate judge of my skills as a student.

Does anyone know if there another person that I can get a referral/ recommendation from, or if some schools will wave it, if a person has been out of school for a lengthy period of time?

  • Is it ok to ship dried noodles to the UK from the US?

I know it sounds odd, but I am going to ship some ramen noodles to the UK. They are dried, and a non-perishable food. I don't think it should be an issue with customs, but I'm not 100% positive and I don't want them to go through the box, as all that is in it is dried ramen noodles and some gummi candy.

Anyone have an idea? I looked on the USPS website, but they only seemed to list for domestic mailing, not international.

    Thanks.

  • American citizen and British citizen getting married?

I am an American citizen, and my boyfriend is British. We'd like to get married eventually, and will, but I'm not sure how it all works, legally.

If we marry, and choose to live in the UK, do I have to apply for British citizenship, even though we are married?

And the other way, as well - If we marry and choose to live in the US, does he have to apply for citizenship, even though we are married?

Also, what do we have to do in order to be able to work in either country?

Anyone who has been in a similar situation as this - I would greatly appreciate your help :) Its going to be a few years before we're married, but I don't want any legalities holding it up!

  • How to stop adult thumbsucking?

My boyfriend is 22 and still sucks his thumb. (Not outside of the home). He has already had to have his jaw re-aligned once due to sucking his thumb. It doesn't bother me that he does it, but the dental issue is a big one.

He says that he needs it to go to sleep at night too. He doesn't do it in public and says that he doesn't even feel anxious when he can't. Which leads me to believe its just a matter of habit.

Do any adults have any suggestions on ways to get him to break the habit so he doesn't ruin his teeth?

  • Compression socks for edema?

I have edema in my feet and ankles. I have started taking Green Tea extract and wearing compression socks in order to help get rid of it. I have also been putting my feet up as well.

I just don't know what times and for how long, I should be wearing the compression socks. I wore them for a couple hours last night, put my feet up, and then took them off before I slept. When I woke up this morning, the swelling was gone.

I don't know if I should put the socks back on first thing in the morning or not, and for how long I should be wearing them. I have read that I need to put my feet up for 30 minutes, 3 or 4 times a day, but I don't know if I should be wearing the socks during that time.

Anyone know, or have any advice?

  • Can you take a crochet needle on the plane (Delta)

I'm flying on Thursday and I'd like to take some crochet things with me in order to make the time pass a bit faster. I would just be taking one or two crochet needles. I looked on Delta's website, but couldn't find anything pertaining to them in particular. Does anyone know?

  • Flooded world artist?

There is an artist that I've seen that does pictures of different famous places that look like they've been flooded by water. I've seen some in Pike's Place Market in Seattle and around the Space Needle where the water is up over the buildings. Any idea on the artist?

  • Is there a MySpace app for "What I'm reading now"?

I was wondering if there was any sort of application, either from MySpace or from an independent site that allows me to list the book that I am currently reading on my MySpace page. I know I could just type it in, but I kind of wanted to be able to add cover art and the like. Just something to let the people who visit my page clearly and easily see the book that I am currently reading. Thanks in advance.

  • What do do about concrete moisture problems.?

I am going to be installing laminate and vinyl on a floor, but after doing a moisture test, the floor is too moist to install either on it (5.5-5.7% in some areas). Is there a product that can be more or less "painted" on the surface to seal the concrete enough so that the glue from the vinyl can be spread on it without failing? Or, is there a product that can seal it enough to prevent moisture from seeping up through the concrete? My biggest issue is that I need to be able to put something down so that the vinyl glue will not fail after install.

As far as the laminate goes, would a standard laminate pad with a moisture barrier be enough to prevent warping of the boards? Or do I need to find some sort of sealer as well?

What options do I have for these two products on the high moisture concrete floor? The floor is about 25 years old as well, so its more than cured.

  • How do I check authencity of Christian Dior purse?

I am currently bidding on a Christian Dior purse on eBay. I have checked all the obvious things from the pictures, but there is a picture of the tag with its code on it. Is there a website or something that I can punch in that code that will say whether or not it is valid, and therefore authentic? The Dior website doesn't appear to have any such option.

  • Does anyone else think Halloween is an excuse for girls to dress trashy?

It seems to me that a lot of women these days use Halloween as an excuse to dress trashy. You see costumes that are obviously designed to be skimpy, and that's one thing... But - I see girls walking around in skimpy, trashy clothes with a pair of devil horns on and they say "Oh, I'm a devil. A SEXY devil." To me, it just seems like a girl can dress anyway she wants without fear of being called a name, just because its Halloween. However, just because its Halloween, doesn't make it any less slutty.

  • Why do kids today think improper spelling and grammar is "cool"?

I see posts on here all of the time with kids saying thing like "Dat was not cool. Lik all he sed was no." I can't figure out whether they honestly can't spell or if it is something they do because it is "cool." Is that the way they write to one another in a "social" setting? Or is that honestly the way that they write in school. If it is something they do to look cool, don't they realize that ignorance is not attractive?

  • Anyone know how to disable the GM Passlock II system?

I have a 1998 Chevy Malibu. The geniuses over at GM decided to install this stupid "passive" anti-theft system called Passlock II which turns off the gas to the engine if a key is inserted into the ignition that doesn't belong there. The Anti Theft light will come on and blink for 5-10 minutes, even if the right key is used. It's kind of an intermittent problem, but it's already made me late for work once. As soon as the light stops flashing, the car starts right up perfectly.

Does anyone know how to disable this system easily, and hopefully inexpensively?

  • What are birth control options for someone with high blood pressure?

So, I just went in to get birth control and I was told that my blood pressure is a little higher than they would like. I'm going back in next week to get it re-checked, hoping things will have calmed down in my life.

What are options for birth control (besides condoms) if someone has high blood pressure? Are there just different types of pills, or IUD, or patch, or what? I forgot to ask when I was at the office. Any help would be great.
