In a monarchy, when a ruler no longer has the throne because they are deceased and have no descendants or relatives of any kind, who would take the throne?

I'm reviewing for a test tomorrow, and I don't understand this question.

I already know that diffusion is the movement of molecules across the cell membrane without energy input from the cell. I've tried very hard to Google this question, but nothing came up. Can someone please give me a brief answer?

P.S. If this helps, you can answer: what is the result of diffusion in a CLOSED environment? Then I can figure out the difference.

Ok, so i'm limited on money, and i'm looking for a store that's like Tilly's or Hot Topic or Zumiez... Except much cheaper. And it's gotta be in los angeles. (preferrably in LA county). They have this new topic called "Fears vs. Dreams". You're supposed to name your biggest fear and your biggest dream. Then you decide by yourself how to overcome your fear and live your dream.

So I want to hear what other people's fears and dreams are.

Mine goes something like this:

Fear: Letting depression kill me.

Dream: Accepting what I have in my life and being strong about it.

I'm writing a fantasy story, and I can't seem to find the right information, no matter how much I research.

By the way, this scene in my story is in celebration of a new elf baby (which only happens once every ten years, so it's a big deal). The elf baby is supposed to bring good luck to their land, etc. My story should captivate readers ages 12-16.

I want to hear what your opinion is for the summer 2011 song anthem :)

Only rock and pop songs please!! (no heavy metal, rap, R&B, etc.)

My summer anthem is "Ours" by The Bravery. Awesome song, BTW :D

Before you answer, here are a few things you need to know about this land:

- It's in a magical realm apart from the Human Realm.

- Only people whose ancestors were born in this land can enter it. (So basically, if it's in their blood)

- Creatures live their too. There are 8-foot-tall spiders, kelpies, etc, but especially phoenixes. This is because the Phoenix represents fire, and this land's natives can control and create fire.

- This land is pretty vast in size, from lakes to oceans to mountains to forests to deserts... You could say it's the size of Washington state - large, but not like the size of a country.

I've already tried a few names using Google Translate (you know, translating words from English to Latin), but none of them really suit the land i'm describing. Also, I'm not looking for lands that sound completely childish like "Magic Land". I'm looking for a great name that sounds completely foreign, but not too hard to pronounce and not too long. A name that doesn't already exist.

(P.S. I was going to use the name "Janeiro", but then I realized that it sounds like "Rio de Janeiro" in South America. So that didn't work out LOL)

Last night, I had a dream that my mom was taking me in her car on a road trip late at night. The car suddenly grew airplane wings, and lifted off the ground. After a few minutes of flying, the car just stopped. I don't know if it ran out of gas or something, but it slowly began to land automatically. Anyway, so my mom and I exited the car. Turns out we landed in a bad neighborhood, and it was like really late at night. It was pitch black, so I couldn't see much. But I could make out a figure moving towards us in the night. And it was a guy chasing us with a pocket knife. My mom disappeared out of nowhere, and it was just me and the bad guy. One of my best guy friends came into my dream and saved me. When he reached me, we ran away from the guy with the knife, and my friend led me to a street I know, that's always sunny and by the beach. I thanked him, and he smiled. Then I woke up.

My best guy bud plays a big role in my life because he has nver been judgemental of me or others. He brightens my day when I feel sad, and is a whole lot of fun to be around. I think that might be why I dreamt about him saving me (because technically, he DOES save me... from going insane).

what else does my dream mean (the bad guy, the knife, my mom leaving me, her car transforming into a plane, my best bud rescuing me, etc)?

So in my case, elementary school was just so innocent and enjoyable. Then when i got to middle school a couple of years age, everything changed (you know, just growing up, dealing with the recession, having drama with divorced parents, and all that middle school crap we all have to go through.) I'm still nostalgic for those easy elementary school days.. but i know i'll never re-live those days ever again.

Ever since i started middle school YEARS ago, i've been talking to my dad, my mom, my best friends, the school counselor.. i think i even talked to my doctor about it. Anyway, so here were their responses:

dad: "whenever you feel bad, read a good book or watch a movie."

(basically, he's saying that i should run away from my problems)

friends: "ummm... maybe you can talk about it with your parents."

(hey, they are trying to make their way through life, too)

school counselor: "just know that when you grow older, these troubles of yours will disappear."

(and new adult problems will pop up in their place)

doctor: "it's your hormones. try exercising an hour a day to calm them down."

(been there, done that. I have almost 2 hours of P.E. plus dance class once a week)

mom: "you need to put in your mind that everything could be worse. whenever something comes up that makes you feel angry, anxious, or depressed, think of it as a minor little complication."

(she saying it's good to brush everything off and not to let it go to my head)

my response: go hardcore.

For the past 3 years, it seems like that's the only response. If I embrace the pain, then it won't annoy me as much, right?

Could you guys give me some suggestions as to what i could do deal??

They're my favorite band. I heard about them in late 2009, and now i can't stop listening to their music :)

alright, so i'm writing a fiction novel about this girl named Sophia. She and this guy named Connor really like eachother. (Kinda going out.. but keeping it a secret from most people) They are both 14, and Sophia's the ruler of a fictional land that only "her kind" can enter. Connor's the ruler of another land, and only "his kind" can enter it. don't get me wrong: Sophia can go to Connor's land, and Connor can go to Sophia's land because they're the same species. They both look human, and spend their free time in the human realm with their human friends and parents/guardians.

Anyway, so i'm writing the second novel.. and in the first novel, Connor's dad had sent Connor to kill Sophia with a spell (which, by the way, didn't work out, because Connor and Sophia ended up falling for eachother). Now Connor's dad is dead, and everything is going perfectly fine.. until:

-Sophia meets 1 of Connor's friends, who looks just... strange. Evil + mysterious = trouble.

-Connor seems bothered by something and won't talk to Sophia until..

-Suddenly, he breaks up with Sophia for no apparent reason the next week.

-And while Sophia's trying to decode the obscure reason why he started acting so strangely, she gets the news that he disappeared.

-She thinks he just left the human realm to go to his land, but no one can find him there either..

-Sophia finds a letter on her desk in her bedroom after she gave up searching for him, and it's from Connor. The note leaves no clues as to where Connor went.

-The next few days, Sophia doesn't talk to anyone, just sitting and staring out the window, as if she expects Connor to just appear before her very eyes. She's feeling lost and confused..

-Then things get REALLY weird. Unfortunate events begin to happen, and she finds herself defenseless against all causes. She realizes that about everyday, she goes through a life-threatening experience. (mostly because someone's trying to kill her, but Sophia doesn't know that yet. And it's not Connor's dad coming back from the dead.)

-I'm thinking that all of this could've been caused by Connor's friend (the one that Sophia met earlier). Maybe he could be "one of their kind". Maybe he wants something from Sophia and/or Connor.

please give me a few options as to how this story could take off from there.

*WHAT does the friend want from Sophia?

*WHERE did Connor go?

*WHY does the friend want soimething from Sophia?

i'm working on a fantasy novel, and i've got the characters down. i've got the setting down, as well as the important "fantasy" part of the story...

i just don't have a climax or any events to lead to it.

so here's PARTS of my story. i won't put the entire thing on, because i want to keep i on the down low. so my main character (Kellyn Asher) is psychic. She has premonitions-- not visions. Kellyn has the amazing 6th sense to "sense" the near or distant future. The first time she found this out was 2 years before when the main story takes place... when she "sensed" that her little sister would go missing. Anyway, it's 2 years later, and Kellyn keeps seeing a pair of green eyes watching her wherever she goes. She thinks it might be her sister, who may or may not still be alive.

Kellyn soon learns why her sister has been missing, and must get her back.. but it will take a lot of work. She teams up with 6 other people who have supernatural powers to find her... but Kellyn may have to give up her powers in order to get her sister back.. and maybe even to save the world.

ya, okay... i don't know exactly how Kellyn and the other 6 people will meet. Idk exactly how she could "save the world" by giving up her powers.. maybe her powers are worth a lot???

I need a little boost. I'm not asking for a whole story-line here. Just an event that leads Kellyn to meet the other 6 people. :] thanks a bunch!!
