Anonymous tip and search warrants?
Can cops evade getting search warrants by claiming that they got an anonymous tip? I heard that they can't unless they can independently verify the claim, but what if they claim that the tip is urgent and opportunity would be lost by spending time to verify the veracity of the claim?

I'm putting images in my paper for illustration purposes, and I got them from a website. However, the website got them from textbooks and science articles, and they list the source of where they got the images. So in my works cited section, which reference do I add? The website, or the textbook that the website got them from?

A 10.0-mL solution of 0.050 M AgNO3 was titrated with 0.025 M NaBr in the cell:
S.C.E || titration solution | Ag(s)
SCE = standard calomel (Hg2Cl2) Electrode
Find the cell voltage for 0.1, 10.0, 20.0, and 30.0 mL of titrant.
I don't know how to set up the redox reaction for this one. Can anyone just set it up for me, and show me how? Thanks.

Nitroglycerin, C3H5(NO3)3(l), a powerful explosive used in mining, detonates to produce nitrogen, water, carbon dioxide, and oxygen.
a) Write a balanced equation for this reaction using the smallest whole-number coefficients.
Did just that:
4 C3H5(NO3)3 => 6 N2 + 12 CO2 + 10 H2O + O2
b) If dH0(rxn) = -2.29x10^4 kJ for the equation as written in part (a), calculate the dH0(f) of nitroglycerin.

A 505-g piece of copper tubing is heated 99.9 C and placed in an insulated vessel containing 59.8 g water at 24.8 C. Assuming no loss of water and that the vessel has a heat capacity of 10.0 J/K, what is the final temperature of the system? (c of copper = 0.387 J/gK).

A manufacturer claims that its new dietetic dessert has "fewer than 10 calories per serving." To test the claim, a chemist at the Department of Consumer Affairs places one serving in a bomb calorimeter and burns it with O2. The temperature increases 4.937 C. Is the manufacturer's claim correct? Heat capacity of the calorimeter is 8.151 kJ/K.
3 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoCalculating the pH of a solution? Problem #2?
What is the pH of a 0.08 nL solution of a 6.00 M HCl solution that has been diluted to 250 L? What % of the [H+] does water provide? Does HCl or water provide more [H+]?
I tried doing it the same way as deadfish did it:
0.08 nL = 0.08x10^-9 L (6.00 M HCl) = 4.8x10^-9 moles HCl / 250 L = 1.92x10^-11 M HCl
pH = -log(1.92x10^-11) = 10.72.
This doesn't look right... how can an HCl solution be basic?

2 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoWhy am I getting this solubility question wrong?
Calculate the concentrations of Ag+ and CN- when silver cyanide (ksp=2.2x10^-12) is in water.
Ag2(CN)2 <=> 2Ag+ + 2CN-
ksp = [Ag+]^2[CN-]^2
2.2x10^-12=s^4
s = 0.00122
My internet homework won't accept it. What is wrong?
