I love to give my opinion whenever it is asked for...this is the perfect place for me!! Where else can I give my true opinion without holding back and have NO repercussions?!?!? It's great!
For all of those who say that illegal immigrants are taking your jobs, have you read this?
An article about how unemployment rates are so low in some western states that people are turning-down jobs that pay $12 an hour and McDonald's employees are being offered $10 an hour to start...maybe "migration" is the answer for the US citizens on welfare or who can't find a job. There seem to be plenty of decent entry-level positions in these areas...
20 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoHow do you replace the pull string on a ceiling fan light?
My son pulled his light string completely out of the switch and after taking out the globe covering the light, it is obvious that it fits into something that rotates and turns on the light, but what isn't obvious is how to get me replacement cord into this little gadget. Does anyone know how to do this?? THANKS!!
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHas anyone seen the movie "Border War"?
I live in the Northeast and after watching that movie it is quite obvious that we all have different experiences with illegal immigrants that cross through the Mexican border. In the northeast, their presence is tremendously less than that in the southwest and our experiences with them quite different.
My experiences have made me believe that they are hard-working, family-supporting people who only wish for a better life for themselves and their families. After watching the film I was overwhelmed with this feeling that, while I am a citizen of the US, I don't have the necessary experiences to make a decision that would affect the border states much more than it would affect me. I don't know what it is like to have my property destroyed on a nightly basis by illegal immigrants who leave trash that kills my livestock when they eat it or watch the educational system in my city decline, or hospitals close due to lack of funding and neither do the people in D.C. So who should decide?
8 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoWhy do so many homosexuals wish to be accepted but then seem to segregate themselves?
I am asking this honestly, because I have some gay friends and they could not give me an answer. There has been an ongoing force to become equal and I completely agree with that, but then why have a Gay Pride parade? Why not just be part of your cultural parade, like the Puerto Rican parade and so forth? Why when there is a Gay Pride parade is it looked-upon as a chance for people to be overly flambouyant and have over-zealous public displays of affection?
Let me explain why I ask. I am not homosexual, but I don't think that someone who is gay should ever not be accepted because they are; however, I think that the lack of acceptance is due to the mannerisms of many overtly gay men that tend to overemphasize, exaggerate, gossip and be flambouyant. ANY PERSON, gay or not that acts in this manner is not accepted. These are the mannerisms that the media and the people associate with gays.
It is up to homosexuals to portray themselves in a better light in order to be accepted.
17 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoWhat do you think about a law that would require all illegal, male immigrants to serve in our military?
It seems that many people have an issue with illegal immigrants not trying to be American, well, what better way to prove your loyalty to America than serving in our military. Why not provide basic training to the illegal immigrants who qualify and upon serving five years in the military, earning wages like all other soldiers, they get legal status?
We have plenty of Spanish-speaking units as evidenced by the Puerto Rican presence in the current and past wars and I'm sure that there are soldiers that speak the languages of other illegal immigrants also.
Would this solution satisfy those of you who would like to deport all illegal immigrants?

11 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoWhy is the blame only placed on the illegal immigrants...?
All too often on this forum I see complaints about illegal immigrants and how they come to this country and steal "Americans'" jobs (by the way, America is North AND South America), but why is no one getting upset with the companies that are hiring them....with the rich people that can more than afford to hire a legal citizen....or with the multi-million dollar companies sending their work overseas so they can pay children fifty cents an hour????
It seems to me that everyone that has a problem with illegal immigration should go to the source of their reason for coming...more opportunities for work which US CITIZENS are happily providing them!
22 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoCan the illegal immigrant husband of a U.S. Citizen get residency in the U.S?
I have been translating for a family who lives in my town. The wife is Puerto Rican and he husband is an illegal Mexican immigrant. He has been in the country for seven years and they have been married for two. The have a daughter together and a baby on the way. Can he apply for residency without risking deportation? Who can they contact about this without risking breaking-up the family?
5 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoDoes anyone have a K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 school system or something similar?
We are undergoing a reconfiguration and I would like some input from parents and children in school systems where there is a similar set-up. Thanks!
