  • Have any double -unrelated- natural catastrophes been recorded?

I'm wondering if there are any records of double (or triple) natural catastrophes hitting one locality at the same time. I'm not thinking of an earthquake followed by a tsunami as happened earlier this year in Chile, because in this case one caused the other, but I'm thinking more of things such as a hurricane and an earthquake, a volcanic eruption and an earthquake, a massive snowstorm and a tidal wave, or any other similar combination where either one might have happened without causing the other but which just for some freak of nature happened to affect a particular area with a double whammy. (And what about a triple event? Any at all?)

  • Does a car's cooling system suck air in through a crack neat a hose?

Recently an older Subaru Loyale was overheating and on opening the radiator cover it spewed out steam and water. Later it was seen to be low in water and had a crack in the plastic connection where a hose carried hot water from the engine to the rad. This was replaced and the person at a salvage yard claimed that the reason the coolant spewed out the steam and water was because air was sucked into the cooling system through the crack. Although I'm not an auto engineer (far from it) this doesn't make any sense to me. Can someone explain what happens in a cooling system which has a leak?

  • Jokes or humorous stories about earthquakes?

Now that the horror of the Chilean earthquake has subsided and we are now facing a long and arduous task of recovering, I'm looking for jokes and quips about earthquakes, that we might spread around to give people a little comic relief from their tasks.

  • What song lyrics or titles use the word 'shake', 'shaking', 'shook' or other synonyms?

I'm living though the aftermath of the February earthquake in Chile where there have been somewhere around 200 aftershocks so far and I'd like to compile a list of songs that might be "appropriate" to remember at this time, like "All Shook Up" or "A whole lot of Shakin' Goin On".

Can you help me with the list? Songs that use shake or a similar word either in the title or the lyrics.

  • How can I file an effective insurance claim?

What are the essential things that I must do, and optional things that I might do (depending on circumstances) to make sure that I get the highest possible settlement for a car insurance claim?

What are the pitfalls to avoid in dealing with an insurance claim that could result in my getting less than I otherwise might?

What tips can people with experience making claims give to someone who has never had to do this before to help them get the best outcome?

I love shrimp and would like to visit different places around the world that have excellent shrimp dishes. • Can a US court convict a person outside the country of libel?

If someone in the US accuses another person who is outside the US of libel, is that person allowed to defend themselves without traveling to the US? Can they be found guilty without attending the trial? Is it essential that they at least be given an opportunity to defend themselves before they can be convicted?
