How to build a career as an author?
Obviously, writing a book is the first step (for all of the people who would answer that way). But how does one get recognized? And how would I go about actually selling my work? How do I turn this hobby into a career?

I am trying to teach my kitten to play rough with toys as opposed to fingers, and just when it seems to be working, my grandma goes and plays with the cat, using her fingers as bait. Ugh! What should I do?
5 AnswersCats6 years agoHow to deal with someone who is negative all the time?
There is never a moment when my grandmother is not complaining, threatening suicide, or...complaining. She dramatizes everything and refuses to see the bright side of anything, and if she cannot find a negative in something (a rare occasion), instead of finally taking it for what it is (not the end of the world), she moves on to something else. This makes me want to bash my head in the wall, puncture my eardrums, pull out my hair, etc. She brings down my mood and makes me feel anxious, in general. Still, I feel bad because she currently allows me to live with her and refuses any payment from me (though I've offered several times). I'm 19. I'm looking for a place of my own, but jeez. What can I do in the meantime? I honestly don't know how much more I can take.
3 AnswersPsychology6 years agoIs it okay to lock my kitten in the bathroom while I'm at work?
He would be in there for about 5 hours. Sometimes 8.5 hours. He is never locked in there otherwise. He would have fresh food, water, clean litter, and plenty of toys as well as a nice place to rest. The reason that I am considering this is that there are four other cats in the house - all about 3x my kitten's size - who have been here way longer than my kitten and aren't too thrilled about him being here. Long story short, I do not want my kitten to be harmed, especially without me there to stop it. I am getting them adjusted to each other, but for now, I would feel more comfortable supervising. My grandma will be home to hold kitty from time to time and fill his food/water bowls if needed, but she has a bad leg and could not play with him or chase him around, much less help him if there was a fight with the bigger kitties. I feel bad about leaving him locked in the bathroom, but the only other option is my room, which means that my grandma would not see him at all. I wish I didn't have to leave him alone.
25 AnswersCats6 years agoHow much money do I need to have saved to move into my first apartment?
I will be moving in with a few roommates.
This will be our first time living "on our own." We are looking for a decent-sized two bedroom apartment (a couple of us will be sharing). How much should I have set aside before I could definately move out?
