  • How is everlasting consciousness a reward?

Some see our current existence as a test, others as what is given and those who are religious believe that in the (good) next life we continue our existence with benefits (put simply) but that point argues that human beings accept consciousness, we accept our souls are alive right now and will always want to be alive (for eternity in the next life) what if we don't want to continue our existence after a certain amount of time? How can we sensibly reject that? That is my question. I know time in the afterlife is not the same as time as we know in our current life but my main question is, to put abstractly, how can we assume that human beings (souls) will want to continue their existence forever? I'm assuming they won't want to, even after a certain amount of time in the next life, after enough is done, said, felt etc.

  • Period, alcohol, meds & pain?

I went out tonight to celebrate a special occasion, unfortunately I ended up drinking allitle too much (about 8 shots of vodka and 4 beers) and being pretty much wasted by the end of the night. I got home and realized I JUST started my period about 5mins ago, the pain and cramping has started and typically it gets really bad and I can feel it getting like that right now. My question is, are there any safe ways to help me cope with the pain whilst intoxicated? And if nothing works, as a very last option am I safe to take either two paracetamol or ibuprofen to help me cope with pain right now?

  • how to create blank cells in excel when certain conditions are met...?

    Hi,

I have written a calculation in a cell and dragged it down so the calcuations will continue using the rest of the data. I want excel to stop doing the calculation and leave the cell blank if the value of the above cell is greater than 100 or the cell above is blank. So I have something like this starting in A1 anddragged until A7:

    0

IF(answer to formula>100 or cell above>100, " ", 'work out this formula and show answer') 25

IF(answer to formula>100 or cell above>100, " ", 'work out this formula and show answer') 63

IF(answer to formula>100 or cell above>100, " ", 'work out this formula and show answer') 99

IF(answer to formula>100 or cell above>100, " ", 'work out this formula and show answer')

IF(answer to formula>100 or cell above>100, " ", 'work out this formula and show answer') #VALUE!

IF(answer to formula>100 or cell above>100, " ", 'work out this formula and show answer') #VALUE!

It only leaves the cell diectly below blank but then it displays the #value! I want it to be so that if the above cell is blank leave this cell blank too. I tried doing IF(OR(above cell is blank, or answer to formula>100 or cell above >100), " ", ...) but that didnt work either. Ignore any mistakes I made in the above formulas, theyre just hypothetical. It seems like a simple task but i cant get it to work!

  • I drank one month old tap water...?

    Hi,

I poured tap water into a plastic bottle about a month ago & drank about half straight away then left it stupidly on my nightstand for about a month with the cap on. About half an hour ago I reached over to drink from my new bottle of water but accidentally drank from the bottle that's one month old.

I took 4 sips & I'm very worried, will this make me ill?

  • Is it illegal for a company to take money from my account....?

...using continous payment authority without my permission.

I gave them permission to set up a direct debit not a continous payment authority.

Then they wrongly took money from my account. When I contacted said company they told me to get an indemnity claim from my bank. The problem is I can I only make an indemnity claim under the direct debit guarantee and since it's not a DD my bank wont/can't return my money. Is it legal for the company to take my money through a method I did not give permission?

I just read somewhere that if it's a continous payment authority I should contact the company for a refund. But what can I do if the company says they won't give me my money back. They legally should but won't. They're stealing my money!

  • Can I sue fitness first for stealing my money?

Well I joined up back in August with a friend. For the next four months they took money out of my account for my friends membership aswell as my own. They first claimed they had my permission to do this (which they did not and they later admitted) and that they would not give me my money back.

About 10 visits in store and 20 phone calls later over a 3month period my bank called them up and they said they would refund my money (about 150pounds) and that it would take about 10 working days to clear...this was in January. Then I visited the gym yesterday and the assistant said she couldn't let me In because my membership bill was overdue. I called fitness first up this morning and the guy on the phone said the notes attached to my membership said I was due a refund of said amount. He said he would speak to the accounts department to see if the refund had actually been made and call me back. He called back 2 hours later and said they were not going to refund me anything and to go claim an indemnity with my bank.

The joke is that I'd already been to my bank back in December to claim one and they called up fitness first who said they would give me a refund. It's going in a circle. I don't have time to call ff 200times & visit the store and my bank every other day which is exactly what I've been doing for the past 5 months. I dont see why they can't just give me my money back. I paid for my own and my friends membership for 4 months from september and she also paid for her own! I stopped the direct debits and they just carried on setting them up again. They were illegally taking money from my bank account without my permission & I've been patient with them but I have really bad anxiety and have trouble dealing with this kind of stuff. I'm so sick of it. Do I have grounds to sue? Would it be worth it and how would I go about it?

  • limits of double integral (xy)?

    using polar coordinates evaluate ∫∫(x+y)dxdy, over R:{x^2+y^2<=16, x>=0}

    R

I think that r=4 so one limit would be 0<r<4 but for the other one I cant figure it out, i think its either 0<theta<2pi or pi?

I really need help with it, all answers appreciated.

  • Can a company screw me over like this and get away with it?

I know its a bit much but please please read

    - Fitness First keep taking money out of my card via D.D for somebody else's membership along with my own which I know is completely illegal. I cancel the other persons direct debit every month but FF keep setting it up again. I showed them the proof (my bank statements), called their head offices, visited the club over the past 6 month, threatened legal action and they still refuse to refund my money.

-THEN for the past two months they've been taking out money for this other persons membership from my bank account but not for my own membership even though i have the direct debit set up for my membership and enough money in my account. This is followed by letters in the post claiming that my bill is overdue...

-THEN the icing on the cake, I receive a letter in the post from a debt collection company saying I owe FF 320pounds even though i've paid all my bills and on time (the bills they didn't take out of my card I paid too). Oh and btw my gym membership costs 30pounds a month and iv'e been a membership for 6 months. Pls do the math.

Im really frustrated and stressed out by this because its so unfair. Im a student so moneys tight and I just want back the money they keep wrongfully taking from me and to get them to stop doing it in future. Any suggestions on what I should do? All answers greatly appreciated.

  • Thoughts on my first chapter?....?

i was wondering whether to continue writing it, please ignore grammar and punctuation as its a quick first draft. Any advice? Would you want to read more? All answers appreciated.

The beginnings always the hardest. But i guess it gets the ball rolling. Now, ive never done this before so i guess im just going to have to tell you to shut up and listen carefully to whatever pops out of my mouth, and i do warn you, you may not like what i have to say, but you gotta hear it, thats why im here right, Mr Interviewer? Madame? Okay so here goes nothing.

You know them women who wear wedding bands on the ring fingers of their left hands, when theyre husbands were out of the picture years before. Know the type? Yes, the young widows and divorcees who do not care to remove it, maybe as an act of sentiment, maybe as a way to tell the guy on the bar stool next to them to **** off. Well the latter type describes her.

She picks the men, doesn't like it the other way around, as i came to learn the hard way. Now i see her sitting in City Limits bar in Spitalfields, sipping on her not-so-ladylike double scotch on the rocks, but boy did she look ladylike. Those long toned legs crossed hanging off the bar stool, in that black lace dress that left little to the imagination when at the same time it wasn't enough. That vixen with golden brown locks flowing all the way down to her hips, her body leaning slightly into the bar. With one hand holding a Marlborough light and the other resting beside her glass, she stared and stared. Now, i thought it was a little weird how she could sit there staring straight ahead, not so much because she was in a bar where every seat was taken and a loud shout or whistle or smash of a glass could grab your attention every now and then and cause you to throw a quick glance towards that sound intruding in on your business, but because what lay at the end of her line of sight was a dusty looking cobwebbed fire extinguisher, hanging between two bottles of alcohol. The memory of it alone makes me want to sneeze. Boy, i thought, id get bored of daydreaming with such tedious scenery ahead of me. This is what prompted me to approach her.

She was way too young to be married, i commented brashly as i took the stool next to hers. Surprising was her reply, stating that she was widowed. That made way for an awkward silence on my part. Her husband had killed himself, she explained.

"Why'd he kill himself?" I asked.

"I dont really know," she replied."Care to ask him?"

"No thank you," I said. "Im fine right here."

Great way to start a conversation i thought. Oh Stanley you flirt.

Ive got colege exams right now & ill probably have to do afew all nighters over the next couple of weeks. During the time of the exams though i lose concentration because of lack of sleep & caffeine has little or no effect on me these days, ive probably built up a tolerance to it.

  • When you first see her she seems mysterious (kinda long)...?

she seems quite and reserved and maybe a little shy but the way she looks at you with those big dark eyes and makes you wonder what the hell is she thinking?? But there is always this uncanny sense of mystery surrounding this girl id never spoken to before. Her brown hair falls to her waist and frames her face so perfectly. She wears simply yet elegant clothes on her toned hot body. She is very sexy but never looks trashy. Still difficult to comprehend is that shes only ever had one boyfriend a long long time ago...and shes only 21.

So i approach this girl and when she opens her lips, each statement she makes is more interesting before the last. Its the confidence which shocks you. the charm and flirt when you expected her to be the complete opposite. And the passion you can hear in her voice when she talks about her interests which are practically everything. No seriously she is interested in so much from music to math, from history to art from baseball to literature. Her mindset is unique and seems knowing and wise. jokes will never fail to be funny, words hardly fail to impress. She talks like a player, looks like a goddess, has a passion in everything and hates nothing and nobody. The most friendliest person you will ever meet.

But she is too scared to be in a relationship, she has intimacy issues and keeps her emotional distance from everyone. Seriously she doesn't even hug her friends! She says she is very attracted to me but that she cant be in a relationship with anyone because of these issues of intimacy and nerves and fear and then she makes jokes about them as if to make them seem minor. Im so lost. I want to ask her out again because she is actually perfect. All my friends always have their eyes on her but she said that she had feeling for me. How do i go about asking her out again. I really care about this girl but she just wont let herself go or let her feeling take control. I dont want to seem forcing or constant because ive already asked her out once. help pls?

  • Unbearably itchy skin!!!! PLS PLSSSS HELP!!?

plssss help me!! For the past year ive had extremely itchy skin. It started on the legs and arms but gradually moved to my abdomen, back, armpits and now my head!! (not my hands, feet, face or but but pretty much evrywhere else) i went to my doctor a couple of months ago and he prescribed me some cream and soups for dermatitis and eczema and dry skin (which hasnt worked) NOTHING in my lifestyle has changed, i eat the same, wear the same etc but this horrible itching started suddenly and increased gradually over time. Ive tried all types of creams and antihistamines gotten rid of evrything i have which contain perfumes or alcahol or other non natural ingrediants....STILL itchy skin!!

Pls someone help me, it was only itching at night before whereas now its itching all over at all times. Evryone om around notices me itch. Ive even had to cut my nails painfully small so that i dont leave scars and mark and bleeding skin

Ive got tiny raised red bumps spread on my arms. One on the inside of each elbow. They are really really small and are only noticeable after a long session of itching. There are very few though. I counted about 5 on each arm.

Any Ideas what this could be the cause of. Pls i dont want advice to relieve the itching, i need causes of the problem. I like my doctor but he is completely useless!
