To Jehovah's Witnesses: Where does the Bible teach that Faith should be based "only" on Scripture?
Where does that Bible teach that "only scripture" (sola scriptura) should be used in teaching Christians the faith. How do you interperate 2 Thess 2:15. Doesn't this scripture indicate that scripture alone is not accurate?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow do Jehovah Witnesses reconcile these verses concerning the rejection of the Diety of Christ?
John 1 In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.
Compare to: Isaiah 6 “This is what Jehovah has said, the King of Israel and the Repurchaser of him, Jehovah of armies, ‘I am the first and I am the last, and besides me there is no God. Compare to: Revelation 12 “‘Look! I am coming quickly, and the reward I give is with me, to render to each one as his work is. 13 I am the Al´pha and the O·me´ga, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
Also: Isaiah 24 This is what Jehovah has said, your Repurchaser and the Former of you from the belly: “I, Jehovah, am doing everything, stretching out the heavens by myself, laying out the earth. Who was with me?
Compare to: Proverbs 27 When he prepared the heavens I was there; when he decreed a circle upon the face of the watery deep.
To ensure that we are true to Gods word and not the mere interpretations of men and traditions, how are we to understand "these verses quoted' in their context
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoTo Jehovah's Witnesses: If Christ returned invisibly in 1914, how do you interpret this scripture"?
1 Corinthians 11:25-26: 25 He did likewise respecting the cup also, after he had the evening meal, saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood. Keep doing this, as often as YOU drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as YOU eat this loaf and drink this cup, YOU keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, UNTIL he arrives."
If Christ already returned in 1914 why is the Memorial of the Lord still celebrated every year since this should have been done only "until" he arrives? Does this worship practice contradict your theology?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoTo Jehovah Witnesses: Why do you believe the Church apostatized?
If the Church apostitized after the apostles died, doesn't that make Jesus the foolish builder described in Matt 7:26-27. If wisdom incarnate founded the True Church as a house built upon a rock (1 Tim. 3:15 & Matt 16:18) should one expect for it the same fate as the house built on sand? Does it also argue against the divine institution of Christianity in Acts 5:36-39? Doesn't that belief also make Jesus wrong when he said in Matt 16:18 that the gates of hell will never prefail against the Church. If the Watchtower does only restore the true early Christian teaching that the Church supposedly corrupted, doesn't that also mean that the True Church was overthrown and it came to nothing. Acts 5 seems to argue against your claim since the Church has existed through apostolic succession for the last 2000 years...
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoTo Jehovah Witnesses: Why do you trust the Bible as God Word if:?
The Catholic Church decided which 27 books/letters would be in the canon of the New Testament at the Council of Carthage in 397 A.D. In other words, if you believe the church went into apostacy after the apostles died, why would you trust a book that was put together by apostates 300 years after the death of the last apostle. You believe the church corrupted the true teachings of the apostles and tampered with scripture and removed God's name? After all, these men believed in the trinity, (you can refer to the church fathers writings), the bodily resurrection of Christ, apostolic succession, church authority, etc all of which is Satanic according to the Watchtower. Since JW's believe the Church to be part of the Whore of Babylon, why would you trust a book that was put together by such an institution? By the way, the Church used prayer and Tradition to decide which books were consistant with was was handed down. Please don't say that Jehovah can make good come out of evil.
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDid Jesus ever use the name "Jehovah" and instruct his disciples to use Gods Name.?
Jehovah Witnesses claim that the New Word Translation of the bible only restores the name Jehovah where it was replaced with Lord in the Old Testament. Is there any evidence that Apostate Christians removed the name Jehovah from the New Testament Greek manuscripts, since this is implied by the Watchtower, and for what reason was this done?

Saved: According to how you believe a person is saved. Whether a person is in the Annointed Class or part of the Great Crowd?
