I have a Q-see qt528 the remote viewing used to work via IE... now it says cannot be displayed, I am able to see it while on the network (using it's direct IP) but not using the public IP/port forward. I have used websites that show that both ports are open and not blocked, diagnostics say that the computer sees the dvr but no response... help?!

I'm sure that if your going military grade there might be much better but it seems that 'high resolution' security cameras for the most part are '480' which seems quite low compared to 1080 cameras out in the world today. (i.e. the WII vs PS3 resolution).

Am I just way of and ignorant here?

I have two Dell laptops (a inspiron 1721 and inspiron 1501). Recently the Inspiron 1721 started having major issues (the touch pad would constantly left click causing the the touch pad to act erratically and not function), so I downgraded from Vista to XP. After FINALLY getting all the right drivers (dell doesn't support the downgrade on this laptop) and disabling the touchpad so i can use a USB mouse, I now have an issue:

When i have the two laptops close together (say a couch distance). The touchpad on the 1501 freezes up and has the same issue. If the 1721 is off... no problems.

I thought it might be the wireless mouse i was using, but i switched to a wired usb mouse and it is doing the same thing. I've tried DL and reinstalling the drivers on both laptops... the only thing i can think of is the bluetooth or wireless module is sending out signals... or maybe one laptop is haunted :)

with the current technology available is it better to go with a intel dual core 2 with higher ghz or intel quad core with lower ghz? i.e. dual core 2 with 3.0 ghz or quad core with 2.4?

I somewhat tech savvy so i thought i would try and do this myself.. I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with a 60 gig hard drive which is partitioned and almost full (both partitioned). Time for a new hard drive - i have plenty of external hard drives... but there's times when i travel and the externals become a pain -

the way i was thinking of doing this was to use a program like snapshot - image the entire drive to an external - pop out the old, pop in the new and image it back to the internal drive... would this work? would the external drive be bootable from a usb drive using snapshot?

So i went to a major brand gas station the other day and while pumping i noticed a little label that stated "fuel contains ethanol" -

After doing some research i'm pretty sure this means E10 gas... which is harmless to the car (for the most part) if it's build after 1980 but i've read in many places that it LOWERS MPG... (which i have noticed) -

My question is what major companies (in southern California) don't use "fuel that contains ethanol" or does it depend on station by station?

I read somewhere the average American hybrid gets about 20 MPG where the average Foreign hybrid gets 42 MPG - Is this true? and why are the americans lagging so far behind?!?

I'm looking to get a new Nissan Versa but i'm debating between getting a CVT or an automatic transmission.

Looking at the reviews they get about the same gas milage (more for the CVT in the city, but still close)

I drive mainly highway and i'm worried more about the long run (5 years down the road) i hear the CVT is more expensive up front and down the road with repairs... is this true?

And which should i go with?

SO WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!?!?!

i was reading an article on Yahoo about plug-in vehicles, i'm trying to figure out the lingo and meaning...

i understand plug-ins would use LESS gas... however doesn't it seem like we would be going backward having to find places to plug in our cars?

also plug in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) the highest they go (as of possible release in 2010) looks to be PHEV-60

does this mean it can go 60 mpg or what?

if that is the case i hear they are putting smaller gas tanks in these which to me seems like it would still put you at the gas station just as often ( i know price would be a lot cheaper BUT time is very important also since you can make more money but you can't make more time)?

Hopefully some of that made since and someone with some PHEV/HEV knowledge can help me out.

Would like to hear honest reviews from what you have and what you have tried, which is better? what are the drawbacks? is it worth the money?

Also i came across this novaform version at costco that seems like the best of both worlds:

There was a game about 5 years ago or so that came out on PC (about the time half-life was really big, and the GTA... yeah the first ones)

where you play as a baby running around (with wings) and it's a first person shooter type, and you can take over other peoples bodies...i know it sounds crazy but it was a really fun game, can't remember what it was called.

I'm selling a wireless router that i used for a month... is there sesnsitive data on it? would a factory reset take care of it?

i have dsl and a belkin wireless router...

it was working fine, now when ever i visit youtube, or dl something (even a podcast) it will start downloading and then stop.

weeks ago if i was connected to the router via ethernet it would work fine... now if i'm wired OR wireless it drops. (i can view websites fine)

i've tried soft reset, master reset, factory reset. same thing.

if i connect the computer straight to the dsl line modem, it works fine - other laptops in the house have the same problem.

I'm not running any p2p stuff, i've cleared cache, cookies, restarted, rebooted everything (like i said it happens on more than 3 computers so it's not an issue on the computer)

At this point i'm thinking that i may have to buy a new router... i thought belkin was a really good brand...

any ideas?

I'm looking to build a home theater for under $2300, i want a projector, am going to use it mainly for movies and occasionally PPV fights. I have the speakers but need everything else (including a good audio receiver)

I was driving today and the power must have gone down in an area... either way the stop light is blinking red (in which you treat it as a normal 4 way stop.)

The long short of it, it took over 20 minutes to get through one intersection...

This brings me back to my origional question...

Why do people freak out aka can't figure it out.. at 4 way stops (when a stop light is out)?

I'm curious about all the names for the orchestral sounds i.e.

Pizzicato

and all the many others...

does anyone have the definitions for all these different orchestral sound names?
