  • I need opinions about what to do regarding our dogs?

We have a 6-7 year old female Rottweiler and a 9 year old female mixed dog that have been together for over 5 years and have always been "buddies". Neither have ever shown any aggression towards another dog or human. In January we brought in a male Austrailian Shepherd/Rottweiler Mix who is now about 7 months old. Since he is a puppy he like to play rough and usually plays with the Rotti. He tries to play with the older dog but she usually growls or snaps at him. Anyway, the other day the older dog growled at the Rottweiler (and the puppy was actually in the other room) and the Rotti walked up to the older dog, growled and then attacked her. She bit her in the neck and would not let go. My husband punched and kicked her trying to get her off, but she wouldn't let go. In the process my husband got bit. We are now at a crossroads as to what to do. Should we get rid of the Rottweiler in case she does it again to another dog or even a human (remember this is the first time she has EVER shown any aggression) or should we get rid of the puppy as we think he is the reason for the aggression. Btw, the older dog has been to the vet and needed surgery (she just had a few puncture wounds in her neck and they had to clean out the area, etc) and we are keeping the other two separate from her for now until we decide what to do.

Any suggestions and/or opinions are welcome. Thanks,

  • Non pregnant lactating dog?

We have a mixed Rotweiler female dog that we are 99% sure is not pregnant, however she is lactating. She was a stray when we got her and the vet stated she was approximately 2 years old. We've had her for a year now and have noticed that she's been in heat twice so far. We have another female dog that we had for 3 years before she was spayed and she never lactated. Anybody else experience this? We plan on taking her to the vet, but since I'm out of work and we are on a tight budget, can't afford it at this moment. All comments are welcome. Thanks,

  • menstrual cycle - breakthrough bleeding?

I just want to see if any other woman has had this experience and if so, what they did about it. I'm 33, married with two kids and after my daughters birth 6 years ago, hubby had a vastectomy. As of about 9 months ago my ob/gyn put me back on the pill to regulate my periods. This was because the week before i was due, i had light spotting the entire week and then during my actual period, I had a heavy day where i would pass MANY large blood clots throughout the day, so my cycle would last 2 weeks. Now since i've been on the pill, my periods have been regulated, however just last month, i had a heavy day and passed large blood clots again.... i also have gotten (since i've been back on the pill) break through bleeding which is only light spotting for 1 day about 2 weeks before my next period. My question is, this morning i woke up and saw a lot of blood in my underwear. I've been to the bathroom a few times since then and there hasn't been anything. Could this just be breakthrough bleeding or something else? I only worry because my ob/gyn told me that if the BC doesn't regulate my cycle, surgery will be needed. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

  • Algae problem w/ swimming pool?

We are having an algae problem with our above ground swimming pool. When we tried to open it, the water was green; we talked to a local pool supplier and they said to drain it to about 2' and "rake" out the leaves that were in the bottom and clean the liner. After we refilled it and put in algaecide, we vacuumed and backwashed the filter. We then applied chlorine but it is still green. We have an element filter and it is constantly getting clogged with the algae. We had this exact same problem last year and never got it cleaned out - so didn't get to use it at all last year. we were told that maybe if we switch to a sand filter we would have better luck. Does anyone have any opinions on what else we can do. Should we buy a new filter and HOPE that the problem is with our filter. Last year we spent hundreds of dollars on chemicals, etc to get it clean and it didn't work - we don't want to do that again! Any suggestions are appreciated.

  • How to deal with bullying?

I know this question has been asked in the past, but i'm looking for comments from parents who have experienced this. My son will be 10 next week and there is this boy who lives down the street that is 11 but they are in the same grade (he was held back in 1st grade). These two started out as friends but then over the years it has changed. One day they will be friends and the next day they are fighting. Last year the minute they got off the bus they got into a shoving match which the bus driver saw and reported to the school. Both boys got after school detention for it. It has now escalated to where this boy will start tormenting my 5 yr old daughter. Last night my kids were in our front yard playing and the boy and a few other kids were playing in the circle in front of our house (we live on a cul-de-sac), well my daughter walked over to her little friends house that is 3 houses over and he started chasing her and calling her names.

  • Long menustral cycle?

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so, what did you do about it? I have been off the birth control pill since my 2nd child was born, over 5 years ago (hubby had a vasectomy), but while on the BC pill (and in my younger days)my periods were regular and lasted 5 days. Now my periods are very irregular and last more like 10-15 days. I have light to moderate spotting for about 7 days, then it becomes heavy for 1-2 days followed by another 2-3 days of spotting. So basically i'm on my period for about 2 weeks and it comes every 2-3 weeks. Could this just be due to the fact of me getting older or maybe i just need to go back on the pill to regulate my cycle (which i really don't want to do)? I have a yearly checkup scheduled with my gyno in a few weeks but just wanted some insight to see if anyone else has experienced this. All comments are welcome.

  • To parents of 9 yr old boys....?

Ok, i'm not being perverted or anything, so don't think that. I plan on asking his pediatrician at his next yearly check up in April but I feel that my 9 yr old's son penis is small for his age. I don't have any other parent i'm close to to actually ask as all my siblings have girls. I was in the bathroom the other morning and my son walks in naked to get in the shower, i just happened to notice that it was quite small. Isn't is supposed to grow as he grows? Or does it grow when he reaches purberty like when a girl "develops" when she reaches puberty? I asked my husband and he just laughed it off stating, "maybe he's just going to be small"..... anyone have any idea? Again, i plan on asking his pediatrician but am thinking it may not even be a concern after all (that is if it actually grows during puberty).
