Depression?
Whenever I read about depression they describe it as a sudden change. But I feel like I have had symptoms (sadness, fatigue, guilt, lack of interest in things, low self-esteem) of depression for the last 6+ years. Is this a character flaw, and do I just need to work on my attitude? or can someone really have depression for this long? It is not off-and-on, it is on-going.
Thanks
9 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoIs a 5mm wedding band too wide for a woman?
I just purchased a wedding band and had it engraved, so it is too late to change it. I keep hearing women say they wear 3 or 4mm. Is 5mm too wide for a woman? Will it look manly?
(if it makes any difference my ring size is 7)
Thanks!
12 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoDry socket?
About six hours after I got my wisdom teeth out I rinsed with water. I did not swish or spit, just tried to get some blood out because there was so much of it.
Now I am concerned that I may have damaged the clot? It has been almost 48 hours.
I do not hurt severely, like they said dry socket would, but I do have a really bad taste in my mouth. I am hoping this taste is just because I am having trouble swallowing and have my mouth open while sleeping. I have not eaten anything solid. Only soup and ice cream. But I have had carbonated beverages.
Is dry socket always accompanied by severe pain? For how many days after surgery am I at risk for dry socket?
4 AnswersDental1 decade agoI have a real mistrust of dentists?
I have been to many dentists throughout my life. I find that they often give me completely different diagnosis concerning number of cavities, etc. I feel like they are lying to me to make a profit. I guess I have been jerked around because of having low-income insurance or none. Does anyone else have this mistrust of dentists? What can I do to overcome this feeling?
Thanks!
5 AnswersDental1 decade agoHypothetical:If we could prove that the Bible?
was just the writings of men and that Jesus never existed, would you stop believing in the biblical God?
If you say no, don't you think this is irrational and unreasonable? Even atheists say that if there was evidence, we would change our mind.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs it inappropriate to have refreshments?
when viewing the Passion of the Christ?
I had a big bucket of popcorn, but I think the 10 minute flagellation scene made me lose my appetite.
I also feel a bit strange about eating snacks while watching movies like Hotel Rwanda, The Pianist, or Saving Private Ryan.
Comments? Suggestions?

4 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoTo those Christians who watched Expelled or want to?
How do you feel about the fact that the makers of this film had to lie to everyone in order to get them to contribute? (scientists, musicians, etc).
And how do you feel about the fact that the people they claim were expelled for believing in ID were actually expelled for completely different reasons?
Do you find this to be an honest film, or did you even bother to consider that it might not be true?
"Premise Media and its marketers have engaged in deception from the beginning of the production of Expelled to the opening weekend. The makers were dishonest with their interviewees, dishonest about allowing (and then disallowing) people to view the film, and dishonest in promoting the film. Dishonesty permeates the content of the film as well: quote-mining, selective editing, and misinterpretations permeate the movie from start to finish"
you can see all of the claims made in the film that are blatant lies here:
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs debate even possible?
When I think of debate I think of a discussion, where the person who provides the most compelling evidence wins the debate.
Is a debate even possible with someone who thinks nothing of evidence, but only of feelings and personal experiences?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs truth individual or universal?
Because I often hear from believers that just because evidence points to something being false or true, it does not necessarily make it so. they seem to think that if they feel something, then that makes it true to them. But how can something be true to one person, when it is found to be false by others?
One one hand, religious people claim that truth is subjective, but on the other hand they deny the validity of anyone else's truth.
So which is it?
Do you believe that truth is subjective? Do you believe that the laws of evidence and logic do not apply to your religious faith? Why or why not?
I received this message from a believer:
"You say that it's stupid for me to defend something that I can't prove but the problem with that is that you can't prove that God doesn't exist. You might be able to prove that God's existence defies human logic but, unfortunately enough for you, logic and truth are two entirely different things."
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoA Question for the Christians, please?
If you say that morality can only be derived from a supernatural authority/dictatorship, then you must be able to name for me an ethical statement made or ethical action performed by a believer that could not have been performed by a nonbeliever?
23 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do you ask people to pray for you?
Why do you need multiple people praying? Why isn't praying for yourself good enough? Wont he hear you and answer it, if it's his will? So how would more people praying change that?
I want to see a Biblical reference to where it says that multiple prayers are somehow going to change god's mind more than one will.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy answer a question...?
...if it has already been answered satisfactorily?
If you don't have anything beneficial to add, and are just saying the same thing others have said, are you just doing it for the 2 points?
Shouldn't you just thumbs up the answer you agree with?
13 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoChristians, what if...?
...you became shipwrecked alone on a deserted island, with no possessions and had complete amnesia. Wouldn't you be an atheist, then?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAre the Christians trying to be prophets...?

Or do they just know that what they are about to type is really ridiculous?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSo what you're saying is...?
...we can interpet any part of the Bible any way we like? Even the 10 Commandments?
I asked this question
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjWko...
This is how I understood the answer:
basically, as it is written the 4th commandment is impossible to keep, and you all interpret it in a way that is convenient for you.
do you really think that when god put the 10 commandments in stone, that he meant for them to be interpreted differently than he said? do you really think that since he gave 10 very straightforward instructions, you can change their meaning to suit your lifestyle?
is there any part of the Bible that isn't open to interpretation? or can we just interpret all of it any way we like?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians, a question about the 10 Commandments?
You all agree that the 10 commandments are very important?
Then, what about the 4th commandment?
"Remember the sabbath day and keep it holy. For six days you shall labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work" Exodus 20:8
"Whoever does any work on the sabbath day must be put to death" Exodus 31:15.
I am sure you will tell me that this punishment is no longer used since Jesus came and fulfilled prophecy, but aren't the 10 commandments still important?
So here is my question:
How many of you break this commandment every week? Just about every store in the U.S. is open on Sundays, you can't tell me all the employees aren't Christian? Even Christian stores are open on Sunday.
If the 10 commandments are so important, why do most of you break one of them every week without a second thought about it?
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoQuestion for Christians?

16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo any of the supporters of creation science...?
...ask questions in the science section? You claim that it is a science as valid as any other, so do you ask questions there? Or are you afraid they will just laugh at you?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat do you think about this disclaimer on Lehigh University's Website?
The faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences is committed to the highest standards of scientific integrity and academic function. This commitment carries with it unwavering support for academic freedom and the free exchange of ideas. It also demands the utmost respect for the scientific method, integrity in the conduct of research, and recognition that the validity of any scientific model comes only as a result of rational hypothesis testing, sound experimentation, and findings that can be replicated by others.
The department faculty, then, are unequivocal in their support of evolutionary theory, which has its roots in the seminal work of Charles Darwin and has been supported by findings accumulated over 140 years. The sole dissenter from this position, Prof. Michael Behe, is a well-known proponent of "intelligent design."
