I am going through my college application process right now. Just trying to finalize my list. I have fee waivers for 4 CSUs, 4 UCs, and 4 Privates. (I live in California). I have already applied for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly Pamona, CSU Stanislaus, and San Jose State (my 4 CSUs). I applied to Kettering also because of the free application.

But now I have 4 UCs and 4 Privates to decide upon. Berkeley and UCLA are 2 definate choices. UCSB and UCSC are the two im kind of looking at. UCSB has a good engineering program I believe, but no Computer Science. UCSC has a good Computer Science program I believe, but no Engineering. Correct me if im wrong. Are there other UCs that would be a better fit?

Privates: Carnegie Mellon is my first choice for sure. MIT im applying to, just to shoot for the stars =) Then I have two openings. Any suggestions? U of Mich Ann Arbor and U of Washington are maybes. Seattle would be dream location. 5 APs junior year, 2 APs senior + 6 college courses. SATs: 1770, 700 math. ACTS: 24 Comp, 30 Math, 24 Eng.

Georgia Tech and Texas Tech is a NO, TOO HOT. I live in CA and HATE IT!

I heard a story from my friend tonight which makes me toes cringe and makes me shake. They were talking about raves, and my friend told me a story that he doesn't go to raves because his friend's girlfriend was at a rave and someone walked past her and shoved a needle into her arm and the needle had a tag on it that said "=) You have AIDS. Have a nice day." Ive never heard anything about this before, but it seriously scared the crap outta me. I told my mom about it and she said it must have been a promotional thing or something. I was wondering if anybody else has ever heard anything about this. Or if you could find me an article online talking about it?

There's something wrong with my computer. I turn it on, and after it being on for 3 hours or so, it'll shut down. The computer will remain on, but the music will shut off, the monitor will shut off, but the light on the tower will stay on. I've been told it may be my processor or the power supply... what do you think?

Im wondering if atheism is opposite of religion, or rather opposite of creationism. In other words, can you be an atheist, and still be a creationist?

I am definitely an atheist. I don't believe in talking snakes, 994 year old men, a talking burning bush, a man who lived inside of a big fish for 3 days, nor an invisible man up in the sky. I respect the bible for the hope and security it ensues, but just don't personally believe the far fetched extravagances and exaggerations.

However, I am unsure if i believe in creationism. If something did create us, (cliche alert) I think its something WAY beyond our understanding....

Anyways... is atheism opposite of religion, or rather opposite of creationism?

I went to the store looking for a King Size Snickers bar, but they didn't have any, so I just grabbed an Almond one. But are they the same size??? I think an Almond one is a little bit smaller but its been awhile since I had a normal one and maybe my memory has made it bigger...?

I'm a junior in high school... in AP Physics.

Just a quick question: what is the difference between the equation:

(Final Velocity Squared) - (Initial Velocity Squared) = 2ad

and the equation:

(Final Velocity) = (Initial Velocity) + at

What i'm trying to find out is if a projectile is shot off a cliff, what is its final vertical velocity before it hits the ground. If i know the acceleration, time, initial velocity, and even distance, and i want to find final velocity... then why can't I use either equation. He wants us to use V=Vo+at... but I argue that I can also use Vf² - Vi² = 2ad.

Our film (TV Production) class is planning on going on a field trip, but we dont know where we would want to go. We can do the traditional Universal Studios trip, but that gets old. We were thinking on a film festival or a display of Sony or Disney or another. Any ideas? We are looking for something in the Southern California area.

What is love? I've heard a couple of times that love fades with time. Love is eternal, right... so how can it fade with time. I belive the "Love fades with time" is just a quote from an ignorant individual who wasn't really in love but thought he was. Then he ruined it for everyone else cause now society believes love fades with time. If time is an illusion, a man-made simple measurement and its just an illusion, how can love fade if there is no such thing as time?

From the enlightened eyes of my favorite artist, John Mayer, comes the pretty obvious lines "Power is made, by power being taken". If you incorporate this with the famous old "Power Only Corrupts" saying... what can you conclude about power? If power is evil, should one willingly give up all power? Referring to Chemistry and the law of conservation of mass, if power is thrown away... is that power gone or is it claimed by someone else? Linger on power and what it does to you? Looking for some eye-opening, enlightening, inspiring serious answers =)

I just reacently got into the beatles and one of my favorite lines in a beatles song is

"Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes."

My interpretation of this line is: Images=Thoughts; Broken Light symbolizes broken hope; dance before me like a million eyes=follow me and mock me, etc.

So my paraphrase is "Thoughts of broken hope mock me everywhere i go." This line was stuck in my head directly after my girlfriend broke up with me :(

What would make your partner just want to be your friend?

I'm a young, very sensitive AP student. My girlfriend just broke up with me and I am still questioning why. I was a huge flirt and she had a huge crush on me... we got together and had a GREAT relationship for 9 months. We were in love, but out of the blue, about 3 days ago, she broke up with me. I didn't see it coming at all. The only reasons she gave me is because I was too clingy and that i have the traits of a great friend. Im not being a cry-baby, I just want to understand why she did it so I an move on. I guess i am clingy, but she could have told me. We are great friends now but i keep questioning her and she just keep says that she fell out of love. I dont beleive you can fall out of love suddenly. I think there might be someone else or she really got tired of me. She always talks about how perfect I am, so i dont beleive i did anything wrong. I can imagine any other reason she would leave me. Can U? Do you beleive you can fall out of love so easily? Any advice?
