♣ Proud to be Canadian ♣
I am Canadian... and proud of it... and, true to the stereotype, I play on a rec hockey team (we're not in the leagues, we're just a bunch of women varying in ages and occupations, playing for fun)... I am in University, going for a degree in agriculture (Animal Science)... and that's my life right now...
Is your dog afraid of anything? If so, what some of the "unconventional" things you do to overcome them when nothing else has worked?
Eg: My dog is afraid of thunder so whenever there's a storm, we turn the dryer on even if there's nothing in it.
When we put her to bed and we know there's a storm coming, we put her in the garage and put my car in there with it's back door open. She absolutely loves going for rides and loves my vehicle so it has become a safe place.
3 AnswersDogs5 years agoWhat credit card would you recommend for me?
I live in Canada. I have no credit history. I do have a steady job (don't know if that matters or not).
I probably won't use it too much.
Any recommendations? Or tips on what type of stuff to look for?
2 AnswersPersonal Finance8 years agoVisiting Newfoundland?
So, for our family vacation, my family is going to Newfoundland at the end of August. I was wondering what kinds of things there are to do and what kinds of things you guys would recommend. It's just me, my parents and my younger brother (who is 18, so obviously more adult things.) We will be renting a car, so, in theory, we could go all the way across the island whenever we want.
3 AnswersSt. John's8 years agoWhat is the proper portion of wet and dry food I should feed my adult large breed (80lb) dog?
She is starting to not eat her dry food. So I've started to mix wet food in. So how much wet and how much dry should I be feeding her? Previous, we fed her 4 cups of dry per day (and she would eat most, if not all, before now. Please specify whether it's per-feeding or per day. (PS: we feed her twice a day)
6 AnswersDogs8 years agoWhat happens when an ambulance is going to whatever emergency but...?
on the way, they come upon an accident that looks bad enough to have serious injuries that would need an ambulance. Do they stop and help or continue on and call it in? I'm curious as to what the actual protocol is for such an occurrence (if there is one).
2 AnswersOther - General Health Care8 years agoIn the grand scheme of things, am I a horrible person?
A little background: I was raised in a home that is leaning towards Christian (meaning, both my parents are Christian*ish* but didn't force us into church/didn't attend a church *other than their own bedside chapel*). However, both my brother and I attended Sunday school and youth groups at a church. I went until I began to question some things and decided that I didn't believe in the Christian god. My ancestry (which includes my grandma) is all woven with Holdeman Mennonites (similar to the Amish) or just "modern" Mennonites who still follow the bible, etc.
TL/DR: Christian background and now I'm agnostic.
Now, important info: My Grandma is super religious, believing that the Christian god is the one and only. She doesn't know I'm agnostic and still believes I believe in her god. Every time I go to her place and we have time alone, she always asks if I'm keeping Christ in my heart and if I'm going to youth groups, Sunday school and etc. I either lie or say something like "I have no down time with work". The way she talks about it, it makes it seem like me being Christian is one of the most important things of her life. I just don't feel good lying to her (she is my grandma after all). So now, am I a horrible person or what?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoAre there any iPod apps where I can keep track of the books on my (real life) shelf?
like Movie Manager.
Which is the best?
Prefer free but if it's good, I'll pay a little bit for it.
1 AnswerOther - Electronics9 years agoLooking for really tough chew toys for my dog?
Okay, so my dog has really strong jaws/teeth (look at what she did to a golf ball she found http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j436/canadiang... and http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j436/canadiang... ... and that's only an hour or two of chewing). She has also been able to finish off a treat thing for large breeds (which she is not) in what would've been an hour if I hadn't drawn it out and took it away from her once she'd finished a portion of it.
So, my question is, are there any toys/dog-safe objects that can survive this "type" of chewing? Or how can I stop her from chewing her toys this way? (I stop her from chewing anything but her own toys. I believe a dog should have free reign with their own toys).
She is a 1 year and 10 month old, German Shepherd/Husky mix if that helps anything.
1 AnswerDogs9 years agoIs there anyway to clean a keyboard?
I spilled Slurpee all over my keyboard... and now, some of the keys are messed up (surprisingly way less than expected *considering I typed this on the keyboard that is messed up*)... Is there some way to fix them (myself or a computer expert)? or am I stuck with them that way until the laptop dies a natural death (lol)?

1 AnswerDrama1 decade agoHow best to handle "aggressive" dogs...?
Note: I know that acting like the dominant one doesn't always work...
and I'm wondering about body language/signals that I can use to dissuade him from attacking... (ie: angling of body, where to/not to look/etc.)
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHave you ever wonder/worry that...?
you've become too much of an independent person (ie: I could live without ever contacting another person)? Then you realize that during your whole life, you've been mocked by those closest to you (and the only people whose opinions matter) and you've been left by all your "best friends."
(this is a semi-rant/"question")
3 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoAm I overreacting?? Please help me...?
Here is my story... Tonight was my grad farewell for just us grads. Me and my friend didn't really want to go but we bought our tickets anyways. Well, today, we woke up really early to get her to some driving competition... got burnt and we were (are) tired by the end of it... well then she was hemming and hawing about going so I said "you bought the ticket, might as well get something out of it... just go for supper and leave after" (there was a program thing after supper)... so she said "okay... I'll be there... b/c my parents are making me go for a little while" (all these "..." are just what was generally said) I offered to give her a ride (well, my parents to give her a ride... we needed parents to sign us in/out but we can use other peoples' parents) I tell her that sign-in is from 6 - 7pm. Well she doesn't show... I ask "where are you?" she tells me "my mom is working till 8... I'll be there a little after 8" 8 o'clock rolls around and flies by... 9 flies by... (supper ended about 8:30-8:45ish)... I'm sitting for the whole program because it's actually interesting... she finally gets going at about 9:20ish but by this time, it's near the end of the program... we start watching a video from our teachers basically saying "goodbye and good luck" and she texts me during it... but I'm busy paying attention to the video... she doesn't even come in to check out what's happening and just leaves... I'm pissed because she didn't even come inside (or basically... showed up)...
*I can't really properly explain all the happenings in the situation*
1 AnswerFriends1 decade agoHow can I help my best friend?
Here is the background: She was having/had sex with 2 guys and flashed a whole sh*t load more and her cousin ratted her out to her parents (about 2 years ago). Her parents royally grounded her for about a year and now they're SLOWLY giving her her privileges back but they don't trust her. and they have total reason not to, she is secretly seeing another guy and they're fooling around (I don't think its sex but...) Her dad is an alcoholic and is always on her case about things. Her mom is kind of a tough love kinda person. her parents have recently (within the last 5 years) taken in two of her younger cousins who were living in a not so good place. The kids always annoy her and **** her off... I'm wondering how I can help her... what kind of things can I do/say?? I'm totally out of my element...
(I will not accept *this was too long to read*) (and I didn't exactly know what category to put this in)

... in movies, there is ALWAYS a romantic plot?? no matter what genre of movie you see, there is always a dude/chick trying to get a member of the opposite sex... its really annoying actually... granted, there are the occasional exceptions but they are VERY occasional...
4 AnswersMovies1 decade agoDo you know your blood type?
I know, this is totally weird but we're studying the circulatory system in biology right now... & I'm totally curious if people know it and what they have...
I'm AB+ (which is a rare type... only 2.5% of people in Canada have it... i just have Canadian statistics)
17 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWhat are some of your...?
pet peeves that you have??
mine are: when someone i have a very personal relationship with (ie: a friend, family member, etc.) laughs at me... it just drives me over the edge & when my friend & mom use the word fag (I'm bi but nobody, that personally knows me, knows it... & even though my friend has a gay uncle and gay cousin, whom she loves very much, she still "hates" anybody else who is gay and constantly uses fag... it grates on me)
so what are some of you other peoples' pet peeves??
9 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agohave anybody been in an accident where they were in the wrong?

6 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoIs anybody here Mennonite?
or do you know anybody else who is Mennonite?
- I'm going to try this again... i tried this in another category but perhaps that was the wrong one... please don't answer if you don't know what a Mennonite is (usually if you are Mennonite, you know you are... if you're really curious as to what a Mennonite is check out http://dictionary.reference.com/ even though they don't really give an accurate description for 'current' Mennonites...)
P.S. - no, we are not the things from hellraiser...
