  • Highschool courses for University?

I am planning to go to engineering when I go to university, so i need all maths, 3 sciences and so on.

My problem is that since we have to send in our application by the end of first semester, how will the universities know our marks for courses in second semester?

Say I have physics in second, how will they know what mark I will get? Will they use my grade 11 physics mark? or just use the first semester's complete average?

  • Formatting an un-formatted external hard drive?

When I recently got a bell HD satellite reciever, they told me that if I connect an external hard drive to it, I can watch movies from my computer on the receiever.

So I bought a Western Digital Elements 1TB external hard drive and plugged it in. The reciever had to reformat the hard drive so i let it. When I plugged it back into my computer, it was not recognized.

Seems as though once you plug in the hard drive for the reciever you cant use it for computer as well. So now Im trying to find out a way to make it work again.

The receiever reformatted the hard drive in such a format that my computer cannot recognize it as a hard drive. It recognizes that new hard ware is plugged in but the format is unreadable, so I cannot just simply "right click -> reformat it " since there is not drive that pops up.

  • I don't have data plan yet I get internet always?

This is my first phone that I've bought, it's an LG Optimus One from Telus

When I chose the plan, I chose the 30 dollar talk and text plan ( not the data plan ). But as soon as i started up my phone, I accidentally hit the internet key in my car only to find out that i had full internet access. I am sure that it was impossible for me to have been running off of WI-FI, but I don't have a data plan so how was I getting internet?

The reason I'm asking this is because I wish to know if Telus still allows non data customers like me to use the internet, but forces us to pay extra in our bill.

  • Is Lake Orumieh still Swimmable / There?

    Hi,

I am currently on vacation in Iran and was thinking of going to the salt lake Orumieh. I had heard from a few people however that it is completely dried up in some places but Im not sure if they are correct.

Can we still swim in Lake Orumieh or is it dried up in the beach areas?

If there is a spot which you know is still a good place to visit for the lake and to swim in, can you please tell me where? ( North , south, special beach area )

  • I need Iran Maps for my GPS!?

    Hi,

I am going over seas soon to Iran and expect to be doing some traveling there. I have a Tom Tom GPS and I am aware that you are able to buy other maps for it as well.

Im looking for a map of Iran for it, or a map which includes Iran.

Furthermore, I have a free SD card of my own, and since when you buy the maps from tom tom, they send you an SD card with the map inside, could i download the map anywhere manually and put it in my GPS?

  • Which CPU heat-sink should I buy?

I have been looking around for quite a while now, and I have a few options that I can choose from:

    - Thermaltake Contac 29

    - Sunbeam Tech Core-contact freezer (120 mm fan version )

    - Cooler Master hyper 212 +

I am aiming more towards the core-contact freezer, but id like to hear from you too. Many thanks. And a quick question, will these all fit on my am3 socket? because am3 and am2+ and am2 are very similar and i heard they are compatible with eachother

BTW: I have made sure that these will all fit and work with my motherboar

  • Are low profile heatsinks better than tower heatsinks?

Im buying a heatsink very soon for my amd phenom ii x4 955 and I was thinking if a low profile heatsink would be better than a tower heatsink

I was looking towards the Thermaltake Contac 29, but then i saw the coolermaster geminII s. They are both the same price but the gemin is low profile. Since it is low profile will it blow air and cool the mother board as well and be like a bonus? My case will fit the tower one.

Please tell me the pros and cons of having each since i cant find any info on the web comparing the two

  • Is it okay to lower my CPU fan speed?

I have created my new computer recently and im starting to get sick of the cpu's fan noise!

I have an AMD phenom ii x4 955 3.2 ghz processor with the stock fan.

The stock fan feels like a jet engine! Its just too loud to be true. My Cpu temps are fine, around

    33-35 C in normal/idle use and 47-50 C when gaming.

    3600 - 4500 rpm in idle/normal use and 5500+ rpm in gaming.

I got the program SpeedFan which gives me the ability to change my fan speed and it shows that my cpu fan is on 100% ALWAYS.

my real question is, if I was to manually put my cpu fan to 70% or something similar, I know my cpu would get hotter but would it KEEP getting hotter untill the cpu is so hot it burns/crashes? or does the temperature just keep getting hotter untill it reaches a certain temperature and stops increasing? I have tried putting it on 70 and moniotoring the effect, but the temperature rises so slowly, I cant just sit there looking at the temps all day to see if it stops at one point.

I have restarted my router and reconected everything it doesnt work

Im running windows xp and my computer and my router have not been touched and are working perfectly fine. My router is only 5 months old.

  • Which stores allow you to assemble your own PC?

I have been told that some stores like Staples allow you to tell them which specs you want in your computer and they assemble it for u for a much cheaper price that you would pay for say an hp computer.

The problem is that i have checked their site and their location and I dont think they do that anymore. Do you know any other place that still offers this service?

I have seen this the other day on 20/20 and it got me thinking

to see it again, go find the video on youtube.com

    What do YOU think?

  • Has society gone insane for celebrities?

I always didnt quite understand whats with celebrities we all have to love

I mean, they are all humans, the same as us, just took a different path when they were a kid, some went to drama school, some when to singing school, some had talent and a lucky break

we take pictures of them doing things we would be doing if we wernt looking at the stupid pictures in the latest celebrity gossip magazine. and when we take a pic of something bad, we flame at them for doing something wrong, but not at us, i mean were perfect right?am i right?

some might consider them role models, but, would u let your kids watch tom cruise ( aka role model ) play in a rated r movie?

I have a feeling society has gone mad, and celebs are only using us. The greatness of a movie doesnt depend on a special actor, ive seen terrible movies played my the best of actors
