  • Have you ever taught English overseas as a second language? What was your experience like?

Can you suggest a good organisation to do a Tesol or similar course through? As an Australian, I would prefer to go to a country outside Asia as I have already travelled in Asia, are their many opportunities for Africa, Sth America or Europe? I already have a teaching degree (B of Primary Ed), will i need the Tesol certification as well?

  • My boyfriend and I will be visiting Walt Disney World and want to know the best options for us?

We are adults and have 2 - 3 days to spend. I like the big "thrill" rides while my boyfriend likes waterslides and is interested in the Epcot centre - technology and the like. Can you give us some clues on the best parks and rides for us? Also ticketing options - which ticket and where to purchase and should we bother getting the park hopper ticket, is it really time efficient to travel between parks in the one day if we have a couple of days to spend?

  • My boyfriend & I will be in Los Angeles for 4 days & want to know what the "must see" things are?

We will already have been to Orlando, Florida so will have been a bit Disney/themepark-ed out. We are not huge shoppers or barhoppers but would like to get a bit of a feel for the city. I thought Venice Beach sounded interesting. Where is good area (not too expensive) to stay in the city to give us easy access to lots of places? We will not be hiring a car.

  • Will I have problems getting into the US on the Visa Waiver Program? ?

I live in Australia, am both an Australian and a NZ citizen and I will be traveling on a NZ passport. I will not be in the US for longer than 90 days (around 15 actually) and I will be there for both business and tourism reasons. Just wondering if the difference between my country of residence and my passport country will make things difficult? I know that both NZers and Australians are eligible for the VWP...

  • Smelly cat poo caused by EVO? Has anyone else had this problem?

I was feeding my cat Hills Science Diet until 6 days ago when I started feeding EVO, due to the better quality of EVO (no grains, better protein sources etc). I did this gradually and still haven't fully changed him over. I noticed almost immediately that his faeces are a lot smellier. Any ideas as to the reason or similar experience? My thought was that the higher protein level might equal more smell... I am hoping it is a short term problem though!

  • My sister's dog is barking during the day while she is gone, any suggestions?

Unfortunately it has been happening for ten months now but the neighbours only just thought to tell them 3 weeks ago, and have been complaining consistently since! The dog is a Curly Coated Retriever, she has a companion dog (a male Lab x), gets one long walk daily and is allowed indoors during the evening, weekend and night time, the dogs also go camping and boating with my sis and her partner so get lots of variety. They live in a warm climate and the dogs have a comfy kennel each plus a shed if they want. They have kongs and toys during the day. I am a dog trainer and have given them lots of advice but just after any other suggestions. No punishment devices thanks, we use positive reinforcement as much as possible.

  • To start dreadlocks how long does your hair have to be and will dreadlocks work with fine hair?

I'm thinking about having dreads for the first time but I don't want to go to all the effort then find that they look crap! My hair is quite fine and at the moment about 2 inches (6cm) long all over. Any tips or info appreciated.

  • Any ideas on reducing dry flaky skin in dogs?

These dogs (brother and sister) have recently come into our training facility and are kennelled. When they came in their coats were glossy and healthy but now they are dull and the skin is dry and flaky - i guess due to stress, change in environment although they seem very happy in themselves. They get 1 fish oil tablet daily and bathed once a month. They are fed Iams and this is not really negotiable. Thanks for your suggestions.

  • Where do I find volunteer opportunities working with animals overseas that won't cost me anything?

I don't mind working with domestic animals or zoo/sanctuary animals or animals in the wild. I am experienced working with animals. I am happy to pay for flights and my own food but don't want to pay any "extras". I'm not afraid of hard work and am looking to volunteer between 3 and 6 months. I live in Australia and don't really mind where I go. Anyone got any tips? I've done a bit of searching on the internet but most agencies want to charge you a big fee for volunteering....

  • Apart from epilepsy what are some causes of seizures in dogs?

A dog at my work had a seizure a couple of days ago, it lasted for 8 minutes. She is a 2 year old labrador who seems perfectly happy and healthy in every other way. She was immediately taken to the local vet and he gave her a mild sedative to calm her (after the seizure finished) and took some bloods to do tests. His belief was that it was most likely to be epilepsy. This was her second (witnessed) seizure, the first happened about a year ago and only lasted a couple of minutes. Any educated thoughts appreciated.

  • If you vaccinate your dog do you choose to use an intranasal or injectable vaccine for Canine Cough & why?

I would like info particularly from people who have dogs that are at high risk, ie: likely to be exposed to Canine Cough. I have a decision to make in terms of injectable or intranasal vaccine for "working" dogs who are at high risk because of the kennelling situation (unavoidable at this stage) and want to make the best informed decision. Thanks!

  • Has anyone tried making their own cat drinking fountain?

My vet has recommended that i get one for my cat so that he is less likely to get urinary tract infections (he has had two in the past 18months, but thankfully does not get crystals or serious blockages). He likes drinking out of the bath so I think this would work for him but they seem quite expensive so i was thinking of making one myself, maybe using a fish tank pump..... Any ideas?

  • Has anyone ever used a walking jacket on their cat and was it successful?

I've found a style of harness for a cat that is more like a jacket and am thinking of giving it a go. I have tried the "H" style harness (like a dog harness) on my cat before and he enjoyed it but the sneaky monkey learnt how to get out of it, so i'm after something more secure. Have you used a walking jacket ("L" style) before and did it work or what problems did you have? See the link if you have no idea what i'm talking about :) http://www.catwalkingjacket.com/

  • How can I fix a pain in the foot!?

The bony protrusion on the inside of my foot near the base of my big toe (not under my foot but on the side) gets quite sore on both my feet but it is worse on my right foot. I spend a long working day on my feet, usually walking around, and am currently alternating between elastic sided work boots and joggers. It seems to be worst when I get up in the morning. Any ideas would be appreciated!

  • Orange spots near dogs eyes?

A dog I am looking after has orange spots near her eyes. They have occured before and are very bright and very small. They tend to occur when the weather is humid. They are hard to wipe off and grow where there is skin showing around the eyes. I was thinking maybe some type of fungus. And yes, the dog has been to the vets and the vet didn't know what it was. It doesn't seem to bother her too much although she does have generally sensitive eyes even when the orange growths aren't present. Now her canine mate is starting to get the same thing! Any ideas?
