Does anyone here really believe that Obama and this Congress really cares so much about the 30 million that don't currently have health insurance that they are willing to defy the will of the MAJORITY of the citizens of this country and to destroy their chances of re-election, as well as probably their entire political careers to do so?

I have a problem with my DVD/CD drive that began approximately 2 weeks ago. I can put a dvd or cd into the drive, and it shows the title and even icon on "my computer" but when I attempt to run the application, no matter what it is, it won't actually run. I've tried replacing the drive with one that I know for a fact works, tried replacing the drive cables, even checked to make sure the connections were tight. I CAN open the disc and see what's on it and can even copy/paste stuff from the disc to the hard drive, but for some reason, no matter what disc I put in, it won't load. I was even able to reinstall applications from discs but if that application has to use the disc to run (IE a game for instance) it won't run, even if I go to the disc drive and select "run". Going into the device manager and deleting the drive to reinstall the drive hasn't corrected it either. I also deleted the secondary IDE channels to see if that would work. Still nothing. The IT guy at my work suggested flashing the Bios to see if THAT would work. It didn't. No viruses or malware was found on the computer either. I also tried shutting down the firewall as that had been updated about a day or so before the drive stopped running and I thought that maybe the firewall was blocking something. No good there either.

I'm truly out of ideas other than a complete reinstall of the entire system but if there is a possible other solution I'd rather avoid that. This is a home built system which has been in use for about a year now with no problems. I'm currently running WinXP professional 64bit. Thanks for any ideas that someone can give.

My daughter (20) broke up with her bf of 6 months about 3 months ago. Since that time he has been putting out lies to their mutual friends, getting people to "go after her" at metal shows that she goes to, among other things. Little of this, other than showing up at some of the shows she goes to, is directed at her by him. Most is contacting friends, etc. rather than her. Any idea what can be done to get him to stop? It is harassment, but due to it not being direct, is there anything that can be done legally to force him to stop? She has been documenting whatever she can. It's been escalating to a level where it's causing her mental stress and today she told me that he's now starting to do the same thing to his best friend, who is also a friend of hers. Any SERIOUS ideas are very welcome. We live in MA if that helps

Why was Obama willing to fly 100 miles to a Democratic retreat to discuss the Screw-u-lus bill but to date has been unwilling to so much as mention, much less fly over and examine the damage that has occurred in Kentucky and Arkansas from the ice storms that happened over a week ago? Why hasn't he sent any help to them? There are over 100,000 people without heat or power for over a week now because of those storms and not a peep out of Obama about it.
