Why would any parent ever teach a child the Christian concept of hell?
It's the worst kind of brainwashing because children below the age of five imprint their trust of the adult world for a lifetime.
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhat is the purpose of the recent Mormon ads on tv?
There are so many that seem to replay on NBC all day. Are the Mormons trying to recruit people or are they trying to repair a negative image? Or is it something innocent, like just saying 'hi folks' to the country. They must be spending millions on those ads. Who's paying for them and why?
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhich invention has helped humankind most: God or beer?
Please answer from your personal experience. Some may say beer and all alcohol is addictive. Some may say God is addictive.
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoLife isn't very long, is it?
Even if we're able to live to be 100, it's still a drop in the ocean of eternity. So we might as well be honest, both to ourselves and others while we're alive. Don't you agree?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWas Jesus the first socialist?
Were there any societies that advocated sharing the wealth as he did before his times?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo you hope reincarnation is possible?
I know there's little to no evidence that reincarnation has ever happened, but still it's fun to speculate.
If you could come back as anyone you wanted, who would it be, and why?

11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWould you continue to tithe to your church if it performed same sex marriages?
I suppose this question could pertain to religous institutions other than Christian as well. Also, would the acceptance of same sex marriage in your religous organization cause you to change your religion or church, synagogue or temple?

13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy did God create the world?
I guess this question is mostly for Theists, but others feel free to weigh in. I'm looking for the Biblical explanation for the reason God created the Earth and mankind in the first place. On the surface, it would seem illogical that an omnipresent God would need to create anything. It makes me wonder; was it out of boredom? A need to entertain Oneself? Are we just playing out dramas for God's amusement? Love? But why would God need to create anything for love? Bible passages would be appreciated on this subject.

11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhich uses the imagination more, the concept of God or sexual preference?
Our first impressions when we are told of God are strong, but to what degree do we use our imaginations as we form our impressions of an all mighty being?
Likewise what degree does the imagination play on our sexual preferences? Are we influenced by events early in our lives, or is all genetically predetermined?
Which do you feel uses the imagination more?

9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow 'Christian' is it to oppose health care for the poor?
You see these raging Americans purposely disrupting town hall meetings because they don't want everyone in their country to have health care. Are they Christians? If they are, then what would Jesus do about the lack of health care for the poor?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians, do you ever enjoy reading science books? And atheists, do you ever enjoy reading works of fiction?
What I'm obviously getting at is, can a Christian read about science without constantly thinking 'God did this, God did this,...'?
And likewise, can an atheist read a fictional account and enjoy it without constantly thinking, 'what nonsense, what total nonsense...'?
It would help if you give some examples of your favorite books, as well as why you enjoyed reading them.

24 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoShouldn't Dick Cheney be tried in an international court for war crimes, rather than by the United States?
His approved torture tactics were committed on Muslims from Arab countries. Isn't it more appropriate that they try him?
17 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDo you have a solution to the GM and Chrysler crisis?
Can the auto industry still turn around and once again be an economic force in America?
Was the closing of all these dealerships inevitable? How much of it is due to actions or inactions of the past and/or current administration? What could have been done to avoid it?
It would be interesting if, instead of the usual mud-slinging, the answers have some serious ideas to help set the auto industry back on course.

13 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy aren't you in church?
This question is mostly for Christians who live on the east coast of the US, where the time right now is 11am. I suppose you could be sitting in the pew typing away at your laptop, but most denominations frown on such a distraction.
So where are you and why?
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes your cat or dog think you're God?
Put yourself in their place for a moment. They magically get food and shelter for what seems like no reason from a almost hairless ape who also seems to control everything in the environment.
Plus they get affection and fun chasing frisbees or in the case of cats catnip toys and balls of thread. Pet owners even to a large degree control when and where they go to the bathroom.
You get the idea. Does your pet think you are God? and if they're just 'dumb animals' does that mean the dumber something is the more likely they are to have religion?
You can leave a funny answer if you want, but keep in mind people might laugh at it.
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhich scientist is most likely to have the best results, atheist or Christian?
Let's say for instance you have an archaeological find that you want carbon dated. Are you more likely to trust the atheist scientist or the Christian scientist?
Or you have a company that is going to do stem cell research. You have one position only for a scientist to do intense lab work. Two scientists have equal credentials, and one is an atheist, the other a Christian. Which would you hire?
And why?
