While playing the Mass Effect games I noticed a lot of huge similarities to the stargate franchise, in particular Stargate Atlantis and I was wondering if anybody else noticed them and if they think Mass Effect is a rip off of the stargate series. Here are a few of the similarities I mentioned.

1. The main character of Stargate Atlantis is called John Shephard. The main character of Mass Effect is also called John Shephard.

2. The antagonists of both Mass Effect and Stargate Atlantis are very similar. The Wraith (Stargate) feed off of humans everywhere and then wait until a certain amount of time has passed to do so again. The Reapers (Mass Effect) destroy all forms of organic life and then wait a certain amount of time has passed to do so again.

3. In Stargate Atlantis, there was an ancient race known as "The Ancients" who battled against the Wraith and lost. In Mass Effect there was an ancient race known as "The Protheons" who battled against The Reapers and lost.

4. The Stargates were built by "The Ancients". The Mass Effect Relays were built by "The Protheons".

5. In Stargate Atlantis, "The Ancients" created a synthetic race called "The Replicators" who rebelled. In Mass Effect The Quarians created a synthetic race called "Geth" who rebelled.

Nobody can deny that these are huge similarities, and there are also other minor ones that I could also mention but I won't. I Just wanted to know your thoughts on this?

With the departures of Chris Jericho, Edge, Batista, Shawn Michaels & Jeff Hardy, as well as The Undertaker not being around, it's obvious WWE needs to make new stars as I don't think they can rely on John Cena, Randy Orton & CM Punk to keep the company afloat.
