My Best Christmas present ever received was my Engagement Ring on December 24, 2007 from the man that is now my Husband!

And my worst would of been this ugly bath towel I got from a secret santa exchange at work.

This is the time of year that people think of what they want for themselves, or think of what they could give to others, such as people that are in need or don't have family and are alone at Christmas.

What is important to you at Christmas?

I work as a Hospital Security Officer, and due to cuts, my job may be on the line for April 1st, 2010.

Has anybody else been laid off? Tell me your stories, what did you go through when it all happened?

I made the mistake of getting a payday loan a couple months ago that I wasn't able to pay off. Please don't criticize, I am honestly looking for advice here. I had made an arrangement to make a payment to this loan 2 weeks ago, but I wasn't able to keep that arrangement.

Now, today I had a 'Collection Debit Memo' come out of my bank account for the full amount of that payday loan including the late fee and interest owed. It left me with $35 in my bank account and a car payment to pay.

I called my banks 1-800 number (scotiabank, I live in Alberta, Canada) but my branch was already closed for the day today. I asked about the debit from my account, because I didn't know about it. The guy said maybe I could get it reclaimed back to my bank account and then make arrangements to pay the company, but he didn't know if it would be possible or not and said to call tomorrow and they would put me through to my bank manager or someone.

Has anyone ever had this happen? I am scared and really embarrassed that this happened, but I really need to know if there is a chance my bank will reclaim the debit, since I did not authorize this amount to come out of my account today. If this hadn't happened today was the day for me to make a smaller more affordable payment to this payday loan company and I could of afforded to do this today if they hadn't taken the whole amount out.

My husband is a huge playstation guy. I have been thinking about getting him a Sony PSP for Christmas.

Is it good handheld game system? Comparable to playing the games on a TV?

He loves to play Grand Theft Auto. Is the newest one a good game on a PSP?

Any other advice you can offer would be a big help!

I am in central Alberta, Canada. It's about -20 degrees Celsius. It has been snowing all day and all night and the wind is gusting up to 60 km/ hr. The snow drifts are getting huge! I hope some of you are having better weather than here!
