Not much to me. I just work alot saving money for college, almost there! I'm planning on being an art teacher. Speaking of art I love it. I spend alot of time painting and sewing costumes which I sell on the side...Mostly civil war era because I'm a reenactor! I'm also the mommy to a beautiful little girl named dakota and a littl eboy named jesse- I love them so much...O.o just wish jesse would stop peeing on the furniture and dakota would stop sticking dogfood down inside the couch cushions. Frigging dogs!
Hackamore problem question
I've been riding my horse with a beetle hackamore for about three months. She was previously rode with one before I bought her but she doesnt seem to respond to it to well. She fights me really hard with it to the point of rubbing her nose raw and me and my trainer can't for the life of us figure out whats wrong. Its positioned correctly on her and I have enough experience to ride correctly. Someone has suggested getting a mechanical hackamore because I might not be strong enough for her regular one. What should I do about this? I can't have her throwing hissy fits for no obvious reason. Should I switch to a bit? We're going to try that this afternoon and see if that works better.
6 AnswersHorses1 decade agoIs anyone else worried about the cost of horse feed?
Don't get me wrong, I will go hungry long before my horses do but my feeds gone from $7.25 to $11.50 in 2 months! and thats just the cheap stuff not counting the $14.75 a bag for mare and colt feed ( was $12.25). It's starting to get scary, is anyone else worried about the rise in feed costs? I can afford it but it's still a bit of sticker shock.
10 AnswersHorses1 decade agoHow do I keep my horse from biting me?
I love my horse to death but she keeps biting me and other people. I got her from a rescue operation and I think whats happening is that they would use treats to lure the horses in and now when she doesn't get one she bites me! This has gotten to the point where just to untie her from getting saddled she snaps at my fingers, If I'm anywhere near her mouth she lips and tries to bite me. She's perfectly healthy and just had her coggins, shots and physical so it can't be anything medical and I saddle her away from other animals. She's a very sweet but stubborn 10 yr old appaloosa and this behavior needs to stop. Any suggestions on how?
16 AnswersHorses1 decade agoA horse we're boarding is breathing really hard and heavily?
We sold a horse to a lady and in her care the horse has now developed some problems. Right now it sounds like she's breathing through a metal tube and is wheezing heavily. We noticed it the other day but after cooling her off it went away so we thought she may have just been hot and notified the owner that she needed to keep an eye on her horse. She's still eating her feed and the only other personality change is she's less nosy. * my question is what can cause a healthy horse to start wheezing hard even with no exercise? Oh yeah, there no yellow mucus from her nose, no feed in her mucus and there isn't any swelling present to make us think she has strangles.
She's 1 a one year old thouroughbred filly. We also found two sores in her mouth. For the record since she's NOT our horse we do not have the right to take her to a vet which we will eb talking to the owner about in an hour because this is getting ridiculous.
7 AnswersHorses1 decade agoStrange black splotches underneathe haircoat of our appaloosa and mustang?
the past few times I've gone out to the horse pasture I've noticed discoloration under the haircoat of my leaopard spot appaloosa. It isn't a spot and it wasn't dirt but it actually looks as if her skin under her haircoat is changing color. I thought it was just sun damage because she's a light color but that doesn't make sense because I've sprayed sunscreen on her everyday since I've gotten her. Now our mustang who is a blue roan is showing the same discoloring as my horse and I'm not sure what it is. They are otherwise very healthy, active horses and have all their updated shots and coggins. We're calling the vet tommorrow but before then I wanted to see if anyone might know what this is.
6 AnswersHorses1 decade agocleaning dog urine from pillows?
My fiance's weiner dog decided that my decorating pillows were a new place to potty and I'm obviously not to thrilled about it. They aren't the kind you can unzip the covers from for cleaning so does anyone have any other suggestions for cleaning them? Hell for that matter are they even salvegable. Any help would be great and don't worry, even if they can't be cleaned he'll be buying me some new ones.
12 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoHorses: Pros and Cons of being shoed or not?
This is just a question I thought of earlier today when a customer asked me about my horse and how she was doing. He asked me about how much it costs to shoe her and was very dismayed to find out we don't shoe our horses and do the proper daily maintenance (trimming, cleaning) ourselves. He started talking about the problems with not shoeing them but his only arguement seemed to work in favor in either way so can someone please tell me the pros and cons of shoeing your horses. I've always thought that as long as you proceed with good maintenance and be weary of where your riding and keeping riding on the road to the minimum that it was alright. SO anyones knowledge would be great, I'm a first time owner but have been around horses most of my life so you would think I would know this -.-;;
16 AnswersHorses1 decade agodog has diarhea?
My dog has had diarhea for two days and I just cleaned some up and noticed very very tiny worms in it, so tiny I could barely see them had it not been for the slight movement. She yelped and acted like it hurt her when she last pottied and im very worried. Last night there was a miniscule amount of blood as well but no vomiting. Shes going to the vet today at 1 and I was wondering if anyone might have an idea of whats wrong with her. Other than the diarhea shes been very playful and happy like always. Oh and lastly she has been drinking water but hasnt really ate much as far as I can tell. Any help would be appreciated.

2 AnswersHomework Help1 decade agodachsunds ears are spotted and rough on the inside?
I recently adopted my idiot mother in laws miniature dachsund as soon as its puppies were weaned. Yes she was backyard breeding, disgusting I know. Especially the conditions molly were kept in. Molly was kept in a small backyard kennel (hot or freezing, raining or dry) and had a small doghouse to live in. Gross conditions and I'm just thankful the babies got a new home. This is important because my question is: I just brought her home and gave her a flea bath ( she was a literal flea bag) and while cleaning her ears I noticed brown gunky build up and brown scablike patches in her ears. She also has several little red bumps. It'll be thursday before she gets into the vet ( shots and then the following tuesday she and my baby are getting spayed together) and I would like to have some idea of what the problem is. She's up to date on heartworm meds and her shots came due less than a month ago. ANy ideas?
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoDying faded auburn hair to natural golden brown?
For the past 8 years I've dyed my hair auburn which is great!....except I recently moved to a new home in town where the over chlorinated water is turning my lovely dark red locks to faded mess. To keep it up I would have to dye my hair weekly (it fades within 3 days!) and thats just not feasible and the damage to my hair would be horrible. My natural haircolor (according to photos taken in 6th grade) is golden brown, whats the easiest way to bring my hair back to its natural color without the red showing through?
2 AnswersHair1 decade agoPuppy seems to be sick and cold?
My mother inlaws dog recently had a litter of three puppies. They are now two weeks old and one of the puppies keep getting shoved off by itsmuch larger brothers and sisters and I don't know what to do. He's very weak btu when he sucks on my finger tip he sucks really hard, his mother doesn't seem to produce enough milk either. I think the other puppies are getting all the milk. We tried to nurse him to her earlier and he latched on but just doesnt seem like he got anything out of it. He isn't moving like the others and makes very little noise. Would getting puppy milk fo rhim work? We put a heat lamp a little closer to their enclosure (inside thehouse) to help keep the little one warm. ANything else we can do to help him out? His mother won't let me take him to a vet- and if I do it ayway I could lose a place tolive in a state where I don't know anyone so please no snide commentary.
4 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHow to start a fish tank?
My fiance and I want to start our first fish tank and we've already decided on goldfish (so pretty!). Problem is when I was growing up my fish would die almost as fast as I stuck them in the tank. How can I prevent this? How can I test the water for bad chemicals? can I use jugged water if so what kind? I also had a fish awhiel back that had blood comign out of its gills, gasped for "breath" then it died. Pretty dramatic, what could I have done to prevent this? and lastly any suggestions for a good small sized starter tank? thanx, sorry it's so many questions I just want to do this right!

It's been 3 weeks since the last time I dyed it...
