What is the strangest "generic" statement you've ever seen on a church sign?
And why do you think churches rely more often on that sort of statement to represent them and attract people, rather than the Bible, itself?
"Don't wait for a hearse to bring you to church" is the cake-taker for me recently...
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoHow to get an invention prototype made without the idea being stolen?
I have an idea for an invention, but no idea how to construct it myself. How does one go about having a prototype constructed without the risk of losing it to the maker. I'm sure, if anything, it involves some kind of contract. Just wanted to know if there were any specifics.
I'm also unsure of *where* to go to have this sort of thing done.
Probably a screwy question, but anyway...

18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWho would best play war hero Audie Murphy in a film about his life?
I pretty much struck out posting this in the "movies" section first - and I kinda figured that I would. It's not exactly a "The Conjuring" question. Hopefully I'll have a little more luck here - and hopefully people will give me a little leeway with the subject/category.
Anyway, Audie Murphy played himself in the film To Hell and Back which recounted bits of his life and war experiences -- almost certainly made, in large part, so that people could watch the events that led up to the well-known battle in which he climbed on an abandoned M10 tank that was in flames and proceeded to take out about 50 enemy soldiers and turn back 6 Panzer tanks, all while taking fire, himself
The question is, who would be best to play him in an updated film that gives a little more attention to his all-around life experiences, as well as the famous events?
Hopefully I'm a little more successful in this section.
4 AnswersHistory8 years agoOk, so if Tutankhamen IS really Akhenaten's son, why doesn't Akhenaten mention him?
Follow up to my "Why is the popular opinion that Tut was Akhenaten's son, not his brother?" question. I did get helpful replies, but the facts still don't make sense to me.
Of course, we're pretty much left with guessing about this. So why do you think a pharaoh would ignore his son and represent himself in stone images with only his wife (Nefertiti) and their daughters? It doesn't make any sense to me for a man not to acknowledge having a son, especially when sons are the offspring of choice among men (even now, and certainly in ancient times). I can only imagine that a pharaoh would be more likely to promote, if anyone, his future male heir, rather than a number of his daughters.
Of course, Akhenaten was an unusual guy, to say the least...
Best guesses are about all that we're left with, I think. So, what would your best guess be?
4 AnswersHistory8 years agoDo you think Tutankhamen was Akhenaten's son, or his much younger brother?
I've heard both theories, but the more popular one seems to be that Tut was Akhenaten's son.
The biggest part of that theory that makes absolutely no sense to me is that Akhenaten represents himself in family situations in various stone carvings, but only with his wife (Nefertiti) and many *daughters,* as far as I have ever seen. There is, as far as I know, no mention of a son - and men are certainly notorious (especially in ancient times) for wanting, if not demanding, to have sons who can succeed them to the throne, Even if Akhenaten had Tut by a "lesser wife" (harem girl), I would think that he would take that virility-affirming pride men have (even nowdays) in having a son.
I can more easily understand an egomaniacal pharaoh like Akhenaten having a younger brother, and not making much, if any, mention of him, since he would be the likely future successor - and Tut, of course, did become the next pharaoh.
Just REALLY curious, is all. =)
2 AnswersHistory8 years agoAdvice for cause and treatment of yellowing tomato plants?
I keep having problems with my tomato plants starting to turn yellow and die from the bottom leaves up, usually when they've gotten a foot or so tall, and usually anywhere from well before to right in the middle of producing several tomatoes at the top that continue to grow until the yellowing reaches them. The plants continue to grow and produce, but the yellowing also continues to crawl up them. I do feed them and keep them well watered, so I'm not sure what else the problem may be.
All I do know is that I never remember having this problem 20 years ago, whether they were fed or not - and it's more likely that they were not at that time.
Any help is more than appreciated. Thanks!
4 AnswersGarden & Landscape8 years agoHelp with CD/DVD burner that keeps burning discs that won't play?
Well, the discs won't play on anything BUT the computer. It keeps burning music on about an eighth-of-an-inch wide band of the CD -- and the attempted DVD -- which, of course, then only plays on the computer.
I even deleted some of the music that I had burned on the CD from the computer, assuming that whatever did get burned on the disc was somehow just making a connection to the same music still on the computer. (I am *obviously* no tech genius.) The disc still plays everything fine, but *only* on the computer.
Any help is very much appreciated. :).
1 AnswerOther - Computers8 years agoSuggestions for animes similar *in quality* to Wolf's Rain?
I'm not necessarily asking for similar subject matter. I would just like to find any other animes that take their subject matter seriously and are as well-voiced as Wolf's Rain.
I'm not an anime fan for the most part, precisely *because* I never seem to find any that don't turn comical and chibi-faced in the middle of a "serious" storyline, and because most of the ones I've tripped over seemed to have been voiced by three guys they found at a bus stop. Wolf's Rain has been the exception, so far, and if there are any other animes that treat their material that well, I'd love to know about them.

Why do people hate "rich" companies and individuals who have worked for their money and provide the jobs, advancement opportunities, goods and services that our free society thrives on, yet they don't mind rich politicians telling them where to go, what to do, and handing them the pittance that will maintain a large, permanent lower class?
