1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans5 years agoTax And National Insurance On Zero Hours Contract Confused?
Hi there,
I have started a new job recently and it's a zero hours contract and on a 3 months probation period which is standard for most jobs but I am confused over my wages.
Firstly I have new employer two of my P45 forms one from previous job which ended in February 2015 and one from Job Centre as wax claiming JSA.
The new employer still asked me to fill in P46 format why would this be?
Also because I am paid per day and not on an annual salary as such not sure how to work out what my tax and national insurance contributions should be.
Some months I work 27 days and others 20 to 23 days.
I have been in job 8 weeks now and been paid twice.
How would I know what tax and national insurance is deducted on different months?
When i started job I was contracted to do 23 days at £65 a day the next month I did 20 days and the next few months if I am still working after 3 months probation I will be contracted possibly to do between 20 to 27 days a month so my wages will go up and down and not same every month as a salary where you earn say £22,000 a year and it's divided over 12 months payments.
Thanks,
Steven
4 AnswersUnited Kingdom6 years agoIs it normal for an electrician to not give a receipt or report for electrical work done?
I have had an electrician who apparently is a legit electrician and come out and done work on a plug socket in my flat which was not receiving power.
This was for the oven.
He said " Must have been a loose connection" as when he unscrewed socket he checked the wires and said one was loose in the terminal so tightened up.
Within days the plug socket which oven connected to with a plug stopped getting power to it again so called the guy and he came back and he said "There is power to the socket so must be a problem elsewhere"
He confirmed was a problem with the circult board in cupboard (not the fuse box) and this circult box held switches for fridge freezer and oven.
He took the front panel off and said one of the wires was loose there where the switch was turned on and off.
He fixed that problem but within 10 minutes of him leaving the panel kept stopping power to several plug sockets.
Called electrician again and his response was "Well was working when I left so will need to charge you to take another look and might need a new switch which will cost you"
Does this sound like a good electrician?
He has charged me £75 for two visits so far £25 for first one as a new customer and £50 for 2nd visit.
He has not offered me any receipts for work completed when paid and not sent me a report he promised because he feels the wiring in flat is not good.
At the moment oven is working on another plug socket but not the normal one it should be used on so don t know if safe.
Please help.

5 AnswersSoftware7 years agoYahoo Automatic Contacts - Email Addresses How Do I Stop Them Being Added To My Yahoo When I Send An Email?
Hi,
Eveytime I send an email to someone Yahoo adds the email address to my list so when I start typing out an email address it has stored email addresses for people I have sent emails to before.
It's getting annoying as Yahoo Mail App syncs all these email addresses and lists them in my contact list on my Sony Xperia Mobile!
How do I stop email addresses being added to each email address I send an email too?
Only email addresses I want to save are one in my contact list only and added by me and not by Yahoo!

2 AnswersCalendar and Contacts7 years agoNeed help setting up a home business?
Looking to set up a little cake business from home with the wife.
I have looked into most things like registering with HMRC,local council who have sent around a health inspector and signed off premises as safe for preparing food.
I don't think we'll ever end up paying VAT unless earnings after all outgoings exceeds I think it is £79,000 a year?
I know we need to register for tax and national insurance.
The local council have registered our business and given us a registration number but still got questions and driving me nuts to find right answers and do things properly.
1) Do we need to register business with Companies House?
2) Would I need to advise my home insurance company of a change? I am not sure what land lies here as cooker be used more but that's about it.
3) Do we need liability insurance if so where can we get this and how much does it cost or can my current insurance company sort this for us?
4) I have been advised some people could abuse the system and falsely become ill after eating our products and make a false claim and sue us. How can I prevent this from happening?
5) If I don't fully register a business name can someone else pinch it and set up their own company and then sue us for using their name?
6) Do we have to pay business rate on council tax? Been told no if rooms being used ie kitchen and living room used for business and personal use for cooking relaxing etc and only need to pay if have a separate room used as office.
Thanks
2 AnswersSmall Business7 years agoUploading My Music Mix To You Tube?
Hi,
I am trying to upload my music mix to You Tube to share with the world.
I have completed my music mix and it's in mp3 format.
I have an image I want to use as a still and had been recommended to use Windows Movie Make which I have on my laptop.
Someone said I would simply drag my mp3 import my image and publish as a video.
Trouble is it will not let me do this and the tabs at top allow me to add video and photos but not add music.
Am I doing something wrong? Can you help?
Thanks,
Steven
1 AnswerYouTube7 years agoDo I Need To Register Small Business With Companies House?
I am wishing to start a food business from home making cakes cookies etc.
My local council have approved me for doing this so I am allowed too and FSA (Food Standards Agency) have also approved after a visit of my premises.
I am in process of registering with HMRC as I need to register with them for tax purposes which I need to do by 5th October 2014 and also pay national insurance.
Do I need to register my small business with Companies House? If so how long does it take and what is the cost to register?
It's only me on my own and my wife who will run the business.
I am also aware if my business takes over £79,000 I would also need to register for VAT?
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you.
Steven

Hi,
I have made some remixes of my own music and want to upload to share with others but if I convert from mp3 to mp4 format for You Tube It will show a blank screen but still play the music.

2 AnswersOther - Electronics7 years agoSetting Up A Home Food Business?
Hi,
Myself and my wife are thinking of setting up a home food business.
We got plans for website and facebook page and are aware we need to register the food business with local council who will then register it with the Food Standards Agency.
We got this information off our local borough councils website.
Not sure on what our earnings will be but I had been advised still need to be registered for Tax and VAT.
Does anyone know what important things must be done to run business honestly and also what the current tax threshold is before you need to start paying tax and/or VAT (maximum you can earn before paying tax/VAT)
Thank you in advance for your helpful answers.
Cheers,
Steven
2 AnswersSmall Business7 years agoFormatting A Computer Hard Drive To Make Safe To Sell On?
Hi,
I have two computers I want to sell.
One is a desktop pc and one is a laptop.
To start process I have deleted all files from both of them and deleted from recycle bin and then done a format with Windows 7 Home Edition installation discs.
Both computers have now been formatted as instructions pop up to do this when reinstalling Windows.
Laptop had Windowx XP but now has Windows 7 Home Edition and desktop pc had Windows 7 Ultimate Edition and now changed to Windows 7 Home Edition.
I have two legal installation discs with proper codes not not crack codes.
Is this enough to sell both computers?
Some people have advised me doing this is not enough for someone to retrieve old files which could still remain on hard drives?
Obviously I could remove the hard drive from desk top computer and sell without the drive but are they worth anything? I still got keyboard, mouse, monitor, and web cam for it.
Laptop I don't know about.
I would like straight forward clear response as I am only have a little computer knowledge.
If files still remain after I have completed what I have done what are they? Photos? Videos? Music? Documents? Everything?
Thanks,
Steven
4 AnswersOther - Computers7 years agoHow do you format a hard drive on desktop pc to enable safe selling?
I have a desktop pc I want to sell and I have concerns about people still being able to access data on it.
How do you format or clear a hard drive to enable safe selling?
I have original Windows 7 cds to reinstall Windows.
Just concerned about some data still being left on hard drive?
Will formatting completely wipe it?
Someone told me it doesn't and they would still be able to access my old files?
How would these possible and what sort of files could they access?
Where would these files be stored bearing in mind had over 45GB worth of music alone on hard drive which I deleted and deleted also from recycle bin!
Doesn't this permanently delete from hard drive?
