The composition of water, the dust in the wind, the body and the mind, and that which keeps them in contact but apart are all of the same. Same element of the same composition acting upon itself. That is the oneness of the universe. We are all of the eternal and to the eternal we shall return. And what are we inside this homogenous picture but wanderers forlorn in their own mind? There are those who keep their sanity intact but scouring their lives for wants mistaken for needs and others who seek what is already in their possession but has escaped their notice due to their inattentiveness. For that, I am Corvus, the plagued wanderer, blind not to know the direction of my path and deaf not to hear its calling. The human psyche may never be clear to us, and even as student of psychology inspired by Jung, it remains a shrouded mystery. For all that I know is that I know nothing besides that fact that I am ignorant. May my ignorance be your guidance.

  • What are the origins of the following quotes?

An instructor gave us a set of quotes. We are supposed to find the authors, the name of the books they are mentioned in, and the page/paragraph in which they are stated. However, the quotes are extremely difficult to find on the internet. Search engines, and educational websites (such as J-stor) just wouldn't give any relevant results. It's as if no one knows the authors of the quotes. I've tried visiting the university's library but without at least the author's name it would be almost impossible to find the relevant books. So, in short, ANY information about the following quotes would be greatly beneficial. The quotes are:

    - "At the bottom of the ocean, we shall have (or create) a kingdom"

    - "For those who are overly cautious, everything is impossible" (The original author is NOT the creator of Star Trek and it's definitely not Kahless)

    - "Even the mightiest get fatigue" (The original author is not Nietzsche)

    - "Debate between confusion and logic"

    - "Valuable things in life are given free from thee"

    - "Those who become free are not prepared"

  • What fantasy/adventure anime/movie should I watch?

I'm looking for an anime/movie in which the main character is at a conflict with him/herself and is undergoing an adventure. Preferably in a different world/time. Basically, I want an anime/movie that is similar to The Twelve Kingdoms, Seirei no Moribito, Spirited Away, Guin Saga, Rahxephon, or Howl's Moving Castle. Id appreciate any suggestions!

N.B: I'm interested in neither anime that are intended for kids nor overly dramatic and exaggerated movies.

  • To married or serious Lesbian/Gay couples, how would you react if your partner asked to exchange names?

What if your partner, whom you're so in love with, suddenly asked to exchange names with you? If you're X and he/she is Y, then you'll become Y and he/she will be X.

  • What Anime Should I be watching?

I'm currently following Fairy Tail, Blood-C, Natsume Yuujincho San, and Ao No Exorcist. I would like to watch yet another anime while waiting for new episodes of the previous four. I dislike mecha, gore, horror, extreme ecchi or harem, and pure romance.

To help you figure out what anime to suggest I'll list a few of those that I have already watched:

    - Fullmetal Alchemist

    - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

    - Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle

    - Kobato

    - xxxHolic

    - Ah! My Goddess

    - Azumanga Diaoh

    - Bleach (Gave up on it)

    - Death Note

    - Blood+

    - Cardcaptor Sakura

    - Final Fantasy: Unlimited

    - Fantastic Children

    - Kiba (My favorite)

    - RahXephon

    - Spice and Wolf

    etc.

If it isn't much a bother, narrow down your suggestions to a few. Absurdly long lists aren't really that helpful.

  • "The Vatican reversed its stance on gay marriage", is this for real?

    http://www.theonion.com/articles/vatican-reverses-...

I saw this link on a friend's profile and I haven't read anything of the sort on any website or heard it on any TV. Googling it will give confusing results. So is this real or is it a fraud?

  • An old friend wishes to reconnect with me but I'm suspicious of her motives, what should I do?

We were really close friends once, we had more of a sibling relationship; however things got really bad in the end. Tension grew and we started getting away from each other and finally she started talking trash behind my back and had me fight with many classmates. But I wasn't a saint either, she was my prom date and I stood her up. Of course at that time I found my actions to have been just. Anyhow, she couldn't get over it and kept starting rumors about me. At that time I decided not to do anything about it; In my opinion, the greatest punishment I can pass to a person is forgetting their existence, and so I did. I blocked her off from all directions and made it seem like she never existed in my life. I continued my life happily. A few months ago, someone told me that they suspected her for having a crush on me back when were "siblings" and she got pissed in the first place because I didn't give her any signs (excuse me for being a homosexual and not understanding how females give signs and she doesn't know about my sexual orientation). In any case, she sent me a friend request on Facebook after all these years. I heard that she broke up with her fiance and she got back with him a few days ago, so my first impression after seeing the request was "it's either an early April's Fool's joke, or she just wants to show me how happy she is with her fiance so I would get jealous". My best friend told me to ignore the request because she probably is trying to get back at me since she hasn't gotten over the issue yet, but my sister (who was also a friend of her family) said that I should accept the request and that way I would appeal as the "bigger person".

Bottom line: She was one of my closest friends, but things went really bad. I forgave her and forgot about her. I have expected her to have done the same thing, but now all of a sudden she wants to reconnect. A part of me wants to be friends with her again and another part is suspicious and can't stand her nor can afford to be fooled again. So what should I do? Should I keep blocking her off or should I accept her back into my life?

  • Do you believe in the validity of friendship between two people of distinct age categories?

Such as a friendship between a 40 year old and a 20 year old. Do you know people who were of 2 different age categories but were still friends? How did it turn out to be? Were you ever a close friend to someone who is of a different generation? Share your thoughts and experiences please

  • If you can get an answer for one question, what question would that be?

Imagine you've met with an all-knowing being, call that being a god, an angel, a saint, or whatever you wish, and that being has given you the chance to ask a single question which he promised to answer in a very clear and understandable way, what would you ask? Try to think about a question that is essential to you and your own self. You can ask anything from trivial matters to unanswered philosophical matters.

  • Do you find yourself performing gestures and facial expressions more often than other people?

In one of my classes today, a professor was explaining that homosexuals have a huge limbic system with respect to heterosexuals. He said that consider the heterosexual male having size X, then the female's limbic system would be 13% greater than X and homosexual male or female's brain would have a limbic system roughly 33% greater than X. The limbic system is responsible for various tasks but primarily for the comprehension of emotions, production of emotional responses, the storage of the long-term emotional and sensational memory and the processing of certain sensations. By emotional responses, not only emotions and emotionally fused reactions are inferred, but mainly the gestures, facial expressions, empathy, etc. So hypothetically speaking, homosexuals, if they truly have that much of a larger and more advanced limbic system, then we should feel more caught up in an argument, more explanatory when speaking, more enthusiastic about certain issues, have the ability to easily understand other people's thoughts and/or emotions, be more reactive concerning self-relevant information, better at reading/inventing signs and signals, etc.

I tried introspecting and found the idea to be just; I use way too many gestures and facial expressions while talking, I can grasp a social situation fairly easily, I find little difficulty understand people (in a social context of course), I'm quick to anger and even quicker to calm down, I can read other people's expression rather faster than my friends can, I always feel caught up in the moment of a conversation and/or argument and so on and so forth. But what I'd like to know if this is truly a common trait between all of us, homosexuals. Compared to other people, do you feel like you have any keener function of the limbic system (that are stated above, at the end of the first paragraph)?

  • What's the difference between Divine and Eternal?

In reference to high beings or entities, what is the difference between a Divine and an Eternal? Is the Abrahamic God a Divine or an Eternal? Or both? What about the Angels, daemons, the Buddhas, and the Hindu Gods? I understand Plato called the Greek Gods as everlasting but not eternal, only the elements are eternal, what did Plato imply by that?

  • What are some similarities and differences between Mandalas and Sigillums?

Sigillums (or Sigils as some call them) are at the basis of western scared geometry. Some represent divinities, some are used in rituals, and other Sigillums are used as ornaments. Christians, Muslims, Jews, Pagans, and other less altruistic religions, cults, orders, and sects, use these Sigillums frequently. However, Sigillums are limited to our western world. In the east the use of Mandalas is widely spread, and at a first glace you could assume that the Mandalas are actually "Eastern Sigils". However, the Buddhists and the Hindus don't share our opinion. They have a different use for their Mandalas. What are some similarities between the Sigils and the Mandalas? How are they different?

  • What anime should I watch?

I've finished most of the anime that I have been watching and now I'm on the hunt again. I'm looking for something imaginative, unrealistic, relaxing, and/or mystical but also something that you need to use your mind to analyze while watching, not just watch for the sake of it; something similar to xxxHolic, Juuni Kokuki, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, Natsume Yuujincho, Kiba, Ah! My Goddess, Death Note, Full Metal Alchemist, FMA: Brotherhood, etc.

  • What would be a suitable addition to my music collection?

I want to expand my music library but i have absolutely no idea what albums to get, so I'll just list the tracks i like the most from four different playlists and hopefully you can devise a few suggestions.

I'll list seven tracks from each playlist

    1 -

    Herr Mannelig - Haggard

    Awakening the Centuries - Haggard

    Bloodlines - Ministry

Elephantine Waltz - 3rd and the Mortal

Sort of Invisible - 3rd and the Mortal

    Angel - Massive Attack

    Unfinished Sympathy - Massive Attack

    2 -

    Ruska - Apocalyptica

    Cohka - Apocalyptica

    Beyond Time - Apocalytica

    Grace - Apocalyptica

    Spitfire - The Prodigy

    Venus - Theatre of Tragedy

Mobscene - Marilyn Manson (that's about the only song that Marilyn performed which i like)

    3 -

    Push It - Garbage

    Trip My Wire - Garbage

    Ironic - Alanis Morisette

    Special Needs - Placebo

Enjoy the Silence - Depeche Mode

    Drain You - Nirvana

Wake Up and Smell the Coffee - The Cranberries

    4 -

Ride of the Valkyries - Wagner

    Scheherazade - Rimsky-Korsakov

    Russian Easter Festival - Rimsky-Korsakov

    1812 Overture - Tchaikovsky

    The Nutcracker - Tchaikovsky

    Prince Igor - Borodin

    The Golden Cockerel - Rimsky-Korsakov.

I already have most of the albums created by the mentioned artists and listening to any doom/death metal band is not an option. Also, Evanescence and Nightwish are not to my liking. I'm currently in the mood to listen to something with a powerful ambiance (like Massive Attack's Angel or Apocalyptica's Grace) or a track like Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries.

    I deeply appreciate it.

  • What is this dude hinting at?

Around a year ago, I saw this guy at a conference in the university, he happened to be from another faculty but i couldn't help but notice that he's somewhat hot. I didn't make any move, i just kept talking to my friends as if he wasn't there. He gave me the impression that he was gay although he looked just like anyone else. At the beginning of this semester he was making obvious, extreme eye contact. Staring at me often and passing around me when he could clearly take another, shorter road, so i began staring back at him. Once, I was chatting with a female friend of mine just across the stairs, and it happened that he came down. He passed between us, looked at her (she said that he didn't have any facial impression), then glared at me with a deadly frown and walked away. He made increasingly less eye contact. I didn't mind, so i forgot about the matter. A few days later he walked by and frowned at me again. I didn't react this time as well. Three weeks later (today) he came to our faculty, heading towards an exam hall (he took the longer road again). I was arguing with a friend over a religious matter, and i was explicitly stating that "I Am not an atheist, i just have a different view" when he walked by. He stuck out his tongue as if mocking me in a funny manner, i was stunned for a second. He couldn't have made that gesture to anyone else since i was the only person facing him, all my friends had their backs to his side, and there was no one else on that floor.

I honestly don't get it. What is that guy trying to say? I've observed him from afar and he doesn't seem to be making such gestures at anyone else. Talking to him directly is probably not a good option since it's somewhat rude to do so in our society and he will most probably deny it (it's typical to do so).

  • Diana Wynne Jones or Hermann Hesse?

Briefly, I'm a student of Psychology who has almost never taken interest in reading any novel. If i ever were to read a book, my choice would fall on either a psychology-related book or a philosophical one. I chiefly value Plato and Jung's works. However, i have recently taken interest in poetry and fantasy. Call a short shift in the casual routine. After gathering some information about authors that i might be interested in, I've narrowed it down to Hermann Hesse and Diana Wynne Jones. Hesse seems like a man who knew what life really is and who enjoyed every single moment of it, from suffering to pleasure and ultimately to working towards ascension. Jones seems like a dreamer, she appears to be creating her own line of fantasy that is severely connected to one's inner mind (what i would refer to as the unconsciousness). I've watched Howl's Moving castle, which was originally written by Jones, and it seemed like i was sleeping and passing through the REM stage, in other words it felt like i was dreaming, a phenomena that i am deeply fond of (I do accredit the director for that as well). Shortly, i want to read a book that flares up my imagination, pulses all my suppressed emotions and sends me into a wakeful dreamlike state, yet i wish to learn something from the book I'm reading and not just enjoy the time reading it. By default, i would get bored of a book rather quickly unless the information is vital and simply must be extracted, so the each chapter must leave me to direly want more. In your opinion, of these two authors, which one is more suitable towards my demands and which book should i get (of the chosen author's publications) first?

  • What are the exact words for this quote?

I want to quote Gibran for a saying. I forgot the exact words but i do remember the general meaning of it. He basically was trying to say that if a person is not a "good" then he doesn't have to necessarily be "evil" he is just "not good".
