Hmmmm, about me.. Vegetarian, Greenham Common attendee (yeah, I was a kid, but I still went there), environmentalist (possibly with emphasis on mental :P). Interested in theology in general, very into learning about ancient european beliefs. Hopefully I am an open minded bunny. Also suffering from chronic severe depression and major anxiety disorder and PTSD (Life experiences suck huh?), but not too crazy most of the time, honest. Studying Environmental Biology and physical geography at bachelor level, aiming for PhD in a physical geography related subject. Cheese afficianado, enjoy cheesy 80s rock bands. Favourite band on my playlist atm is Live, if you havent heard them, and you like that sort of music, go listen! I love the lyrics.
Dreams or awake? Help!?
This is the second time this has happened and it is bothering me cos I cannot find a logical explanation.
This morning I woke up, and my boyfriend said "There was a big tsunami last night"...I said "Yeah, it was a 6.7 earthquake that caused it, I saw it on TV yesterday evening"...
Turns out it was only a few hours ago, not 15, as it was "Breaking News on the tv this morning, but I clearly remember seeing a CNN news thing about it, and it doesn't feel like it was a dream...it was a CNN anchor sitting there with a map of the area, and a series of big dots on the map, with different colours for the time frame.
This is the second time this has happened. When the asian tsunami hit, I was out at a party, went to bed when I got home, woke up and said to my boyfriend "Its awful about the Tsunami" He said "What tsunami?", so I replied "The one on the TV news last night"...again, it happened while I was sleeping...
I thought maybe I had the TV news on, and had been dreaming and had kinda overheard it in my sleep, but my boyfriend said the TV was off when he woke up, and with the Asian tsunami, there was no TV in my room...
Now, I am a rational bunny, although I am a firm believer in empathy, usually I stick to science.....so any "rational" explanation, or not so "rational" would be welcome!
4 AnswersMythology & Folklore1 decade agoWhere does this position stand:?
Ok, here is what I think (at present, authors views and opinions are subject to change at any time without pre-warning, remember, values may go down as well as up)
I think evolution is the best available reasoning at present for how life exists.
I do not believe in a big deity (angry or otherwise) controlling life, or judging us.
So far, this is an atheist.
However, I also believe that there is something in nature that we do not understand...so, there may be a spiritual side to the world without it being created by a deity.
I do not think science is the only answer to the world, nor do I believe that anything intervenes in our world.
I think that sometimes, the still small voice of calm is there (gotta get a bible type thing in), but we drown it out.
I do not know if there is an afterlife, however, I do not think it is as any of the religions would have us believe, I think it is just as likely to be an alternate life that we cannot yet see from here.
I think this makes me more of a pagan of some description, but am not sure...
Not sure I even want a label, but it is nice to know what region to look in for one.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoA question about catholicism?
I had never heard the viewpoint that catholics are not christians until I came onto Y!A...
I am intrigued, and would like to understand why some christians say this.
It is the oldest currently still running sect of christianity as well as the largest, representing over half the christians in the world.
I am not sure if this is an american viewpoint, but as I said, I have never run into this view (outside of people who say that theirs is the only true christianity).
So, question is, if you think catholics are not christians, why?

1 AnswerMy Yahoo1 decade agoMake up and headscarves?
I do not mean this to be inflammatory in any way, but I am just trying to understand.
This question came about because I was on the bus today, and people-watching.
As far as I understand, the headscarf and modest dress is so that you are not viewed as a sex object, when people talk to you, they are not talking to your upper body, or, as one of my friends put it "I only want my husband to see how beautiful I am".
This I fully understand, however, I do not understand when I see women wearing modest dress and headscarves, but with makeup that is extremely over the top. To me, these two are in contradiction of each other.
I just wanted to get some feedback from muslim women here, as to whether they wear makeup, with or without headscarves, and what their view is on wearing heavy makeup with a headscarf.
(I do not wear any makeup at all, ever, I think I have worn it three or four times my entire life, so this may be why I do not understand this)
14 AnswersRamadan1 decade agoGood nut roast recipe?
I went on a vegan retreat with my parents back in the 80s when my mum was going to Greenham common, and was in CND, the one thing I remember most (apart from it being freezing in the middle of winter in an old house with no heating), was a yummy nut roast. I have tried loads of recipes for them, but it always ends up too dry. Does anyone have a recipe they use that is not too dry?
6 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoLooking for a good site for Norse Mythology?
I am trying to find a good site with detailed stories from Norse Mythology, including their creation story. I have found sites with bits and pieces, but to be honest most of these have been more general pagan than Norse, I just want somewhere with the stories, and maybe some Further Reading.
