  • Feeling very hungry all day?

All day today I have been feeling very hungry all day. Its not just a I think I want food either its a so hungry my stomach has been growling, I feel sick because I am so hungry, I'm salivating a lot, and going to the bathroom a lot more than normal. The last couple weeks I have been working out more and not actually dieting but really watching what I eat and trying to eat better. I have not been hungry like this at all but today I can eat but I feel hungry 5 minutes after I am done eating (and I went well beyond my normal calories both with health and a little bit of unhealthy food).

I was just wondering if anybody has any ideas what it could be (and no its not pregnancy).

    Thanks if anybody can help!

  • If your school requires you to have health insurance to do your program of study can it be a tax deduction?

I know that you can now deduct your cost of books and other fee's that your school requires you to have even if you do not pay the school. I am a nursing student and something we are required to have each semester is health insurance. If I do not have it I can not go to my clinical's and ultimately I fail the course.

Since this is required is it something that would be considered a tax deduction?

    Thanks

  • I need some crockpot meal ideas...?

I need some crockpot meal ideas. I prefer to have some with most of the meal there. I already do some crockpot cooking but then I still have to make potatoes or noodles or something that takes 15+ minutes. So I am wanting ideas with most of the meal being cooked in the crockpot or crockpots (as I have 2).

    Thanks

  • Incontinence or becoming lazy with age?

I have a dog that is about 8 years old and she's a cocker spaniel mixed with something else. When we first got her 3 years ago she was trained to go potty in the house with her previous owners so she had a few accidents with us but was quickly trained to go outside. Since then never any problems. A month or 2 ago we noticed she was having small accidents in the house (pretty much she would be laying there start using the restroom and then would stop and rush us to let her outside) that happened a couple of times but then stopped. Now all of a sudden at night she is using the restroom in the house (not in the room she sleeps in but in a fairly close room depending on which way you go). She use to wake me up at night whenever she would have to go and there was never a problem with me waking up or her having accidents. But now she's not even waking me up and I find out in the morning she used the restroom. She is not drinking more than usual, i put her out right before we go to bed, she does not strain to use the restroom when I watch her go (which is normally a couple times a day), and I am taking her water away at night (the nights i forget to take the outside water away by 7/8 is when I notice she goes inside the house).

I'm just wondering if anyone thinks its because of her growing age and maybe she can reach that spot faster than waking me up and going outside or if maybe she is just becoming a little more lazier in her age or if could be another reason?

  • Why is my chocolate crinkle dough cookie dough very gooey?

I decided to try and make chocolate crinkle cookies for the first time since the recipe seemed very easy. This is the recipe I used: 1/2 cup cooking oil, 4oz unsweetened chocolate melted, 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar, 2 tsp vanilla, 2 tsp baking powder, 4 eggs, 2 cups flour. I placed the mixed dough in the fridge overnight. This morning I go to make the cookies and when trying to roll the balls it was VERY gooey and the dough is practically melted before I'm halfway done putting dough on the cookie sheet (only doing 12 on a sheet). I've tried rolling them in my hands, using a ice cream scoop and yet the dough still melts on the sheet making the cookies flat when cooked.

Can anybody help tell me what I might be doing wrong or any suggestions for a different recipe or anything?

  • Does anybody have a young child with dyslexia?

If so what were some of the signs you noticed that convinced you (and their dr/school board) to get them tested?

I have a 6 year old and for the past 6 months - 1 year I keep getting these feelings that she might be dyslexic. It started one day when she came home with her entire name wrote in the right order but all the letters were wrote backwards. She hasn't done that since then and I kinda think she was just playing around but she does flip some letter every once in awhile (mostly her c's from what I have noticed). Then me and the teacher noticed that when she is reading some words she just gets like that but other words she complains she cant see the board (in class) or at home she gets all close to the book/card. So I took her to get her eyes checked and they are fine but yet she still complains she cant see the word/board. If we write a 2 with the loop on it she says its a 6 but if you write the 2 without the loop she knows its a 2. She also confuses 9's and P's as well. She also complains that she doesn't know the alphabet or how to count and always wants help/reassurance that she has it right (which of course she does have it right).

I know these are some signs of dyslexia but not sure if they are strong enough to get her dr convinced to give her a referral to get tested or for the school board to test her. So just kinda want to know what other people did thanks!

  • Do you do anything when grandparents give one of your children a better present than the other?

My children have birthdays 1 month from each other. My mother gave my youngest $60 in cash last month with a card and came to the party. This month she gave our oldest a $25 gift card to a department store and a card (not even a phone call and did not show up for the dinner party). I was upset when I saw the amount of what she sent my oldest after giving so much to the youngest. I don't care how the presents are given but we stress to everyone to try and be fair to our children because we like them to be treated equally. This time we are just keeping the gift card and giving my son $60 in cash and telling him its from his grandma. However, I was just wondering if there is anything others do to try and keep this from happening in the future or do yall just not worry about it?

Also, we are not greedy and I know our children should be happy with anything they get it. However, me and & my husband do not like favoritism towards our children in any way and everyone in our family knows this. We have told everyone before if you can only afford to do so much then split that between them both or don't even worry about a gift just wish them a happy birthday/merry christmas etc... thats all they need.

  • A couple of tax questions if anybody can help?

    1) What all can be used as deductions for school? I'm a nursing student so I normally have on average a $1000 for books every semester (and there not bought through the school), I also have uniforms to buy, nursing supplies, medical insurance (required to have), liability insurance (required and paid to the school), shots, background check, 2 drug tests, a yearly physical exam, application fee that was paid for, and a few tests that I have to pay for. These are all required to be in the program. Are any of these tax deductible?

    2) My husband does a yearly conference. It is not required for him to attend for his job but does provide him a lot of new ideas/techniques for him to do his job. He also buys various books throughout the year to help keep up on new ways to do his job (he is a web designer/developer/filmographer). Would this conference and/or books be able to be considered for at least education for his job? Like I said he is not required to go or even buy these books but at the same time he is required to learn the new technology for his job.

    3) My husband has to provide his own computer for his job and I know this is a deduction but are things like buying a new mouse, headphones, back up drives also considered?

Normally we have people who do our taxes but I just don't feel like paying a few hundred this year so was trying to see if I could do it on my own but I'm also a little unsure of what all can be done. Thanks for any help!

  • Would you ever do your childs reading and then tell them what its about?

I was talking with another parent today at my child's school and she mentioned how her child has to read a book every week and then write a small paper summing up the book or answering questions etc... However, she said her child hasn't been wanting to read the whole book so instead of taking an F she has been reading the book and then telling the child what the book was about to do the work.

Who all would actually do this for their child? I personally would let my child take an F as they have to learn to do the work but maybe thats just me being to mean. When I heard her say it though I just kept thinking she is setting her kids up for failure if thats what she's gonna do. Sadly her child is actually very very smart so I don't see why the child wouldn't do the work anyways.

  • Going to Great Wolf Lodge in March should I give kids spending money or play by ear?

We are going for my sons birthday and a mini vacation but he may have a friend coming along with us. I was wondering if the friend comes with us (not only is he my sons best friend but we are friends with their entire family and spend select holidays with them) if I should give him and both of my kids like a certain amount of money (I was thinking maybe $40 each) for whatever they want to buy, the arcade, a wand for magi quest (i was thinking i would pay for the game itself and they buy whatever wand they want or i'll pay for the base wand and they can add in money for a different one or something). Or should I just play it by ear and let them know if they can get something or cant etc... I do know that if the boy goes his parents will give him some spending money as well but I feel like I should give him money for the games and arcade and all his food but wasn't for sure if I should add in money so they could each buy a souvenir or buy snacks as they please. Thanks for any suggestions!

  • Gift bag ideas for young girls?

My daughter is having a 6th birthday party next month and since it will be their last big birthday they get to spend with their cousins were trying to do really good ones. Normally for gift bags I just do whatever the place has or gift bags sets you buy from like card and party factory. This year I want something really good though but kinda stuck on what to do.

So far I have 1 thing of lip gloss and nail polish for each girl, I'm going to make them all a hairbow, and was thinking of doing some sillybandz. I was thinking I could make them all tutu's but then I don't know cause I want my daughter to wear a cute pettiskirt so she may feel left out not wearing a tutu like the other girls. Any other party bag ideas??? Oh and they will all already be given lotion as their scenting their own at the party.

  • If given the choice between iPhone or iPod Touch for your child which would you choose?

My kids both share an iPod touch that we got for free when we bought our laptop this year. They have taken care of it very well but they both love playing with it. Well, recently we have talked about buying another iPod touch so they both will have their own but at the same time my son has been asking for a phone. Now truthfully my son is only 7 (almost 8) BUT he is going to start going to the Boys and Girls Club a few days a week and wanting to start going to friends houses. So we have thought about buying a kid friendly phone so that we don't have to worry about can he go to this friends house or not (he had a friend last year he never could visit because they had no home phone, which we dont either, but their cell phone was almost always turned off or not enough minutes for him to call home so we would like to avoid issues like this).

Well, after thinking the other day I thought about just buying an iPhone 3G(S) for him because 1) they are older phones so I can get it cheaper than an iPod Touch and 2) if I'm thinking of buying a cell phone anyways it would save money in the end. Should we just do the iPhone or buy a cheap phone and do the iPod touch?

  • Is this an example of a simple random sample or cluster, convenience, or systematic?

If you ask someone to blindly draw 1 out of 2 colors out of a hat to determine what program they would participate in what would it be considered?

I am thinking its considered a simple random sample but would like to double check my thoughts.

  • Would you ever allow a check to bounce for extracurricular activities?

Here's the story: we were wanting to put our kids into ice skating lessons as a Christmas gift and it was suppose to start beginning of November. It was then delayed by a few weeks and the day before the start date I dropped off the payment for the program. After the payment was dropped off they then informed me they would not be starting the next day but in another few weeks. I was then told that my check would not be cashed until closer to the start date (incase they have to cancel). When I called to get an exact date I was told the start date would be mid Jan. if they did the program. I then asked them to hold my check (as they said it was not cashed yet) so we could see if we still wanted to do the program at that time. We want to make a decision because by the time the lessons end the kids will be able to skate only 1 or 2 times before the ice skating season ends. I receieved a call from them today saying they went ahead and cashed the check but I could receive a refund in Jan if I wanted one.

Were pretty upset about this and have no clue if we will even do this program that late in the winter season. However, were also upset that they refuse to give us a refund until next year if we manage to get a refund (its not a huge company and they've already gone through 3 people for 1 program in 1 month). We were thinking of just letting the check bounce (if my bank will bounce it) so that way we only lose $50 compared to $200. I will cancel the check if I can but tomorrow will probably be to late to cancel the check and pay that $25 to the bank to do so.

Would anybody else do this in a similar situation or would you just suck it up and potentially lose a $200 Christmas gift?

  • Would you buy your young daughter multiple playsets or just make them choose one?

My 5 year old started to get into barbies last year so she has a decent start of barbies and 2 barbie houses. Before barbies she had lots of little people stuff and still has them as she does play with them. However, this year she has decided she wants more barbie stuff but she also wants a dollhouse as well. I'm kind of leaning towards going ahead and buying it but I am also thinking she has barbie houses just use that. So I just want some opinions on what other parents do when/if their children want multiple large playsets.

  • If your child borrowed something from someone else and lost it would you replace it?

Would it make a difference on the price of the item?

Or a difference if it was a close friend, family friend, or just a regular friend?
