  • My ex owes me a monthly payment as part of our divorce settlement.?

He is suppose to pay on the first of the month, and was late by 5 days. I want his wages garnished so the payment wont be late again. Will the court approve this? The payment is neither child support nor alimony.

  • How do you go about not getting fired when....?

Your employer makes u feel like it is mandatory to attend unpaid work events (staff meetings, education) and you want to stand up to them regarding the legality of this. It is frustrating because their staff of about 60 all follow like sheep and do as they are told. One girl even told me that if you want to get ahead in this industry you have to suck it up.

Industry is Hair. Tabatha from Tabathas salon takeover says salons should have weekly education, but she doesnt say it whether it should be paid. My employer says UNPAID, Because its like their gift to us, and we should be grateful to have it. I could just quit, but besides this issue, i really love my job and the people i work with.

  • Can my employer make me come to work and not pay me?

While i suppose its not technically mandatory, if i dont attend i am told im not being a team player, and made to feel bad or that my job preformance is slacking. We do workshops once a week for 4 hours without pay and staff meetings once a month for 4 hours as well as education periodically throughout the year for about 8 hours at a time.

I am grateful that we get the education, but this next week i will be working 12 days straight without overtime. I'm paid hourly

  • What do I owe in taxes for early Roth IRA distribution?

in 2008 I took an early distribution from my Roth IRA. The distribution was the entire balance. I was told I only pay taxes and penalties on the earnings, and am having trouble finding info specific to my situation to verify this for income tax purposes.

The Roth IRA was opened with $4000 and earned $500 over the course of several years. I took an early distribution of the balance $4500. Do I report on my taxes that $4500 was income and pay 10% penalty on the entire amount? or do I report $500 as income and pay 10% penalty on just that amount, which is the earnings.

No contributions were made to the Roth IRA, just the initial opening balance. No previous distributions were made. No known exceptions apply in my case.

  • Are Credit Counseling companies really just friendly Debt Collectors?

I've used credit counseling companies to pay off my debt in the past, and it works. But now, I'm a little older, and I think a little wiser. My partner is currently paying his debts through one of these "non-profit" companies, and I don't feel as comfortable with it. Here's why:

    1. The minimum payments on the credit cards don't seem to be lower.

    2. The interest rates are not very low. When I went through one of these programs my APRs were lowered to between 1 and 5%. His are still as high as 15%.

    3. They don't share the "fair-share" dollars with us. -- which is where I get my Debt collector logic. Essentially, the Credit Card Company is PAYING this Credit Counseling company to collect our payments. And then the Counseling company is charging us even more to process the payment. Seems like a raw deal...

  • I don't understand the Explanation of Benefits from my Dental insurance...?

I was under the impression that the "Patient's Responsibility" amount would be approximately what I 'd be charged from the doctor. I paid the doctor prior to receiving the statement from the insurance, and it was much more than this amount. Why doesn't the amount I paid the doctor match up with the amounts on the explanation of benefits?

  • How to remove paint from bathtub?

My bathtub/shower was refinished with a refinishing kit from Home Depot. The paint is now peeling, and I scraped off most of the loose paint. It seems the etching process didn't really work, since the surface underneath the paint is shiny and pretty much intact. There is some paint that is harder to remove, and I don't want to scratch the surface more than I have already with my scraper, so I'm wondering if there is something I can use to aid with this process. Like a paint stripper of sorts... but keep in mind, it's not normal wall paint.

    Thanks

  • My dog seems to be having trouble making it to "her spot" to do her business...?

She's an older beagle, probably 7 years. We have to walk a good minute or so before we get to the spot where she usually goes. Lately she can't seem to hold it, and tries to squat down on the driveway, dropping turds. It's annoying since the driveway is not an acceptable spot for her to do her business. We live at an apartment, so, we don't want our neighbors walking in it.

Why would she be doing this? Is it because I put a little bit of water in her food?

  • What can I do with my Interior Design degree? Other than design?

I have my bachelors degree, graduated 2004 from a big 10 university. In the meantime I have had a few jobs, mostly in the customer service industry. I feel like nobody wants to hire me. I don't want a job directly within my field since my interests have changed. I'm tired of people telling me that "just because you have a degree, doesn't mean you're more marketable than the next person" I totally understand that a degree doesn't automatically put me on the same playing field as someone who's been in the workforce for 10 years. But i do feel it should give me an advantage over someone with just a GED, right? Plus, I do have work experience. I'm not old, so it is limited. Why all the negativity toward a degree? Even worse, I had a job as a teller at a bank. My supervisor and manager praised my work, I clearly went above and beyond. But they still decided to hire a 35 yr/old lady who could BARELY do simple math, who could BARELY understand the basic banking concepts.. at a higher pay. WTF!

I don't get it. It's like, in the world of GED's, people only want to hire the inexperienced people.. probably out of pity, and the "been there" attitude. But for me, with my degree, it's like they despise me. I don't want some big corporate job. I just want a basic little job to fill my time.

  • Going through Divorce, Insurance Coverage?

I am on my husband's insurance. When I go to the doctor, and the insurance doesn't cover the visit, who's responsible for the bill? The patient, or the Insurance Holder?

Our divorce is almost final, not sure who needs to pay the bill, who's legally responsible?

  • is it better to pay off one credit card at a time or divide payment amongst all cards?

I have 4 credit cards in repayment. I make payments on all of them every month, they all have varying balances and interest rates. I figured out that I can pay them off in one year by splitting $800 amongst them every month on top of what I already pay. Is it better to do this? Or should I put the 800 toward only one card, pay that card off quickly, and then the money that was initially going to that card now goes to another card, and I tackle the next one with big $800 payments? So, one at a time quickly vs all cards over the next year? i'm not sure if one way is faster or not... but I do know that paying off a credit card feels great.
