  • Legally, a U.S., Michigan question: my husband was murdered in April by a?

total stranger. Two weeks later, my 16-year-old daughter took off and is now living with my son's grandmother-in-law. From my daughter's SS money, I'm paying for her care, but she told me yesterday that my daughter-in-law can get custody of her. Is this true! I am not an unfit mother, I just thought she might be better off there on a temporary basis due to the media attention. Since I have been providing for her welfare and banking the rest so she can have a nest egg, can my daughter-in-law actually take away my parental rights?

  • Am I the only person here who doesn't care about points?

I have a lot of them, but I'm not a collector. Until my husband was brutally murdered in a random attack in April, I just came here to amuse myself. So, I pose my question again: does anyone really care about points? Honestly?

  • I'd like to ask my followers a simple question that can relate everywhere...?

Okay, so my husband was murdered 4/8/10 by a random stranger in a small town. Doesn't really make more than the local news. You know what really burns me? The tiny town police chief said it looked like a drug deal gone bad, plus that they knew each other.

None of that was even remotely true.

Further...did anyone actually come to my house to tell me? Nope. I got a phone call.

After identifying the love of my life, I got home to a news crew on the front steps of my house. Can anyone out there tell me what I should have said? Fortunately, my daughter-in-law was there to restrain me. All I said was "no comment."

Maybe this isn't CNN-type news, but it should be, if only for the fact that they published our names before I even got to tell my 16-year-old daughter what happened, and MY HUSBAND DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THE GUY!!!

Outrage should start right about now!

  • Is anyone else getting really annoyed with that Dove Hair Care Ad popping up?

It takes over the top of the page every time I try to answer a question, and I'm now POSITIVE I'll never buy a Dove product again. Anyone else?

  • If your spouse betrayed your trust by breaking a VERY important promise...?

Here's the deal. I stopped drinking quite a while ago because it bothered my daughters (aged 15 and 24), There are still some extremely rare situations where I will imbibe, but the girls are not there, nor are they to know. It's a promise my husband made to me, just as I have made promises to him over the years. Last night, as we were home alone and trying to "get in the mood," I had a couple of drinks (so did he). The phone rang, and it was our youngest. She asked point blank if I was drinking again, and he could have lied, but didn't. He easily could have admitted he was (since it was true).

Now my relationship with her is in tatters and I feel I can no longer trust or even care what my husband says. Like I told him, if we were in the trenches together, and it required a lie to save his life, I'd lie like the world's most amazing rug, ever.

I don't condone lying as a general rule, so I don't need moral guidance. What I need to know is how you might feel if it were you in this awful situation. I believe he really has permanently wrecked a relationship that was really close to being mended from other issues which had been tearing us apart. I don't think I want to be married to him...he keeps insisting it's my fault, even though it truly is the only thing I've ever asked him to lie about if questioned, and he promised me he would.

P.S. No, I'm not an alcoholic, nor was I...I'm just a lightweight when it comes to alcohol.

  • Re: Chattanooga, TN, can you suggest fun, family-friendly things to do inexpensively?

I will be visiting there with my 15-year-old daughter in two weeks, and we are staying with my 24-year-old daughter and her fiance. I'm wondering what we can all do together that isn't too expensive. I do know about the aquarium, but not much else.

  • Does anyone know how to get rid of the top contributor tag?

I inadvertently got it before, and it turned out to be a troll magnet. I had to leave y!a for four months to get it to go away. Now, it's turned up again since yesterday. Is there another way to get rid of it besides ignoring y!a for a long time?

I really don't need snarky answers, thank you.

  • Does it irritate you when...?

Does it irritate you when you answer someone's question very thoughtfully, and then after they get 20 or so answers, they add "additional details" that completely change how you'd have answered the first time? Yes or No, and why?

I see this all the time, and it makes me wish people would actually give some thought to their phrasing when they ask the question initially.

  • Is anyone else questioning their existence?

I wait on my family, forgo my own ambitions and dreams, and am disappointed when I wake up in the morning. Yes, I recognize depression, and I know it doesn't last, but is anyone else out there feeling this way right now because I feel pretty alone.

  • Help, quick? A boy's parents want to meet with me and my husband...?

tonight to discuss the relationship between our teenage kids. It's puppy love/infatuation and I'm keeping an eagle eye on the situation. I'm afraid the parents will try to forbid the kids from seeing each other and that it will backfire. I don't feel the way these parents do, but I have two older kids so I've been through this before. They only have the one child. What do I say to them so we don't end up in a Romeo/Juliet situation or have kids that run off together?

  • Can someone interpret this dream?

I answered a question earlier about memorable dreams and it prompted me to ask someone else to interpret this one for me. I've interpreted a lot of dreams for other people, but I can never do it for myself or loved ones because I'm too close to the situation. Anyway, if someone can help me, this has been bugging me most of my life.

40 years ago, and it's still like I dreamed it yesterday: I was five years old and riding a blue whale (of the cartoon-looking variety) into a large room that looked like it was built for a submarine to come up into. Only a couple of people were on each side, just looking up at me, and the walls of the room were made of glowing gold. I didn't feel anything at all. No emotion, whatsoever.

  • Prescription drugs found in drinking water across U.S...WHERE???

"(AP) -- A vast array of pharmaceuticals -- including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones -- have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans, an Associated Press investigation shows."

Where can I get some of this water??? I'd drink a lot more water if I knew it was full of mood stabilizers! LOL

  • New flu going around?

I woke up yesterday with awful pain in my stomach. My 14-year-old daughter has the same thing, but hubby is unaffected. We've all eaten exactly the same foods.

My daughter and I can eat, but the pain gets worse. She's felt nauseous a couple of times but hasn't thrown up. I threw up once. Mostly it's just pain and it gets worse if we eat. We aren't feverish, but are very tired. Is this some new kind of flu bug? Has anyone else heard of it? We're in Michigan.

  • Virgin Mary Pretzel???

Now I've heard it all! Ebay has a Virgin Mary pretzel, current price $6300.00 with 57 bids, for sale by a radio station. Does anyone else find this faintly (or boldly) disturbing??? Will Catholics actually be making pilgrimages to pray to a pretzel? No wonder so many people find religion to be so confusing!
