  • Introducing Adult Rats - HELP!?

Okay so I'll start with some background info.

In March of 2011, I got 2 adult female rats (Butters and Raisin), in September of 2012, Raisin passed away. After searching local rescues for months, I adopted Penelope, a 4 month old female hairless rat. She and Butters got on immediately, and were best friends within a week, sleeping and snuggling together, even grooming each other constantly. They got on better than Butters and Raisin did! Unfortunately in August of this year, my Butters passed away, leaving Penelope on her own.

I didn't want to get another rat, but I couldn't leave Penelope on her own, that wouldn't be fair. So I scanned local rescues and FINALLY, after 3 months found a pair of females (I decided on a pair so that if one passes away, the other will not be left alone). They are an young adult pair of female rats, I am not exactly sure of their age, but I was told they are under a year old (but they are full grown)

They just finished their quarantine, and I moved their cage next to Penelope's, so that they can see and smell each other.

I have never introduced adult rats before, let alone a trio, and I'd like some tips!

I know to put them in a neutral environment and everything, but I don't know what type of behavior is okay/not okay when introducing a trio.

Penelope is hairless so I have to be very careful that she doesn't get hurt too badly. I plan on cutting everyone's nails before introductions.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Nautical Themed Dog Names?

    Hi everyone!

So I currently have a beautiful female yellow lab named Harbour (Harbor for you American folk!).

I have decided to get a new puppy as a companion for Harbour.

The puppy I am getting in a shepherd mix. I am unsure of the gender as the puppies are only 1 week old and I haven't seen them yet.

I am thinking of names that would go well with Harbour, so I'd like something nautical themed.

My current top 2 names for boys are Sailor and Tugg (like a tugboat)

My current top 2 named for girls are Haven (which is a synonym for Harbour) and Marina, OR Saylor for a girl.

If anyone can think of any CUTE nautical themed names that would go well with Harbour, that would be awesome!

I don't really want WATER themed names per say, as I'm more into the nautical idea (boats, lighthouses, etc.) than water itself.

    Thanks everyone for your help!
