  • How do I get excommunicated from the Mormon church?

I haven't been an active member for years, but after learning about how much effort they've put into having Prop 8 passed, I want absolutely nothing to do with these people.

  • How do you take a suit on a plane?

My boyfriend and I are flying to a wedding this weekend, and he realized he has no idea how to best transport his suit to keep it in good shape. We're just flying in coach. What should he do?

  • What's going on with the jalapeño salmonella outbreak?

Is the FDA getting any closer to solving the problem? Or is it the CDC who's on the case? Or both??

Last I heard, (if I've got this right), they had found the same strain at some shop in TX, but the guy had both tomatoes and jalapeños going through there, and they were still just as confused.

Fortunately, my neighborhood Chipotle was relatively unaffected-they just cooked their peppers before mixing them into their delicious guacamole-but how much more of this can farmers take? They already got screwed out of (at least) half of the tomato season, so now what?

  • Can I throw away my off-week birth control pills?

Is there anyone out there with a medical/pharmacy background that can tell me about the drug content of Ortho-Tricyclen?

I'm aware of the recommendations for safe disposal of prescription drugs, so I would like to know if there are any drugs in the 4th week pills that are harmful to the environment, or if they are actually "sugar pills" as they are sometimes referred to.

    Thanks!

  • What's with having so many babies?

Why do people have a lot of children in American society? (I'm thinking >3, to toss a number out there.) I mean, I get that a lot of people do it for religious reasons, but are there any reasons aside from that? Why would you purposefully want to have a lot of kids?

  • Why is Yahoo! Answers SO addictive?

Is it because we love to shove our opinions at anyone who seems apt to care? Because we want everyone to think like we do? Because we're bored at work? Because we don't have anything better to do on a Friday night? (Or don't want to...) What do you think?

  • What are your odd energy-saving techniques?

Okay, I'm talking about the somewhat obsessive compulsive, slightly neurotic stuff. Like waiting to shower till after your workout the next day so that you'll use colder water, or constantly turning down the gas on the stove when your boyfriend is cooking. (Yes, I'm admitting to both of those things.) Come on, fess up.

Health reasons? Environmental reasons? Animal lover?

    Please explain. Thanks!

  • How will calculus be applied in my career (geology)?

Alright, so I'm having some serious motivational issues in my calculus 1 course. I need to take 3 semesters of calc for my major--geology. I do just fine in the work when I actually do it, but I never feel like doing it. Can you give me some examples of how calculus is useful to geologists? I'm highly motivated about my degree/career plans, just not so much about getting up for 8 a.m. class and spending gorgeous summer evenings working on homework. I even have a hot tutor (my boyfriend), yet nothing seems to help!

  • Do you have any good [somewhat simple] chocolate recipes?

I've got a boatload of E.Guittard baking chocolate, (white, dark, semisweet, milk), and I don't know what to do with it. But...I'm broke till next payday, so I'm trying to find stuff to make in the meantime with ingredients that I have on hand. I've got most of the essential baking ingredients, (flour, sugars, etc.), pecans, vanilla ice cream...

I'm just not in the mood to sift (!) through online recipe sites. Any ideas?
