  • Is it normal for a 12 year old to be confused about sexual orientation?

I was just told by a good friend that my daughter has told her daughter a couple times now that she thinks she is a lesbian. She is very close to her like a sister and i know she loves her and wonder if she is just confused by those feelings. This comes as a huge surprise to me as I would never have even thought this about her first off she has had crushes on boys. I am a huge supporter of gay and lesbian and will totally love and support her no matter what but I just really in my gut do not think she is. I feel she may be confused. This started when I was in the process of becoming a surrogate for same sex couple not sure if that possibly triggered it. I am not even sure she really knows what a lesbian is. We talk about gay but not really lesbian. I am just not sure what I should do at this point.

  • What do you tink ogf this band name?

Forming a three piece band and trying to come up with a good band name. Style of music will be progressive rock, jam band with a little reggae/boogie rock feel. Influenced by Dave Matthews Band, The Grateful Dead, Bob Marley, The Rolling stones, The Police, Cake, Jack Johnson. The one name I have come up with so far is "No one of consequence" What do you think? Other idea welcome.

  • what is the going rate for a teenage babysitter for an 11 year old that pretty much takes care of herself?

I have been paying $5 per hour with a min of $20 even if we are only out for 2 hours I still give them $20 but some nights we are out late and like I said she really just needs someone here with her because she is not old enough to stay home alone but is old enough to take care of herself. I think $5 is good but wanted to see what others thought never have had any complaints about it so... I am also in Maine and not in a big city small town so I think that should be considered when responding as I know in a city that rate would be low. ty

  • best grain free dog food? Protein levels seem high in some?

currently have my dogs on Taste of the wild sierra blend and I am looking to change it but ingredients are important to me. I want no grains, filler, binders or junk in their food. I have been researching dog food for the past couple of days and can't seem to figure out which to go with. I really like a few but the protein levels seem too high like 38%. Vet says it should be around 20/21% and the TOTW is around 26% I think like 30% would be alright. I have a two yr old golden/poodle mix (rescue) so please no haters. I also have a 15 yr old mutt but he is not doing all that well has bad arthritis. I think I will not change his food since he does not have that much longer. We are also getting a lab/golden mix puppy so we need to switch the puppy over to something too they have him on Purina. I am looking for suggestions on food to switch to and info on how your dogs have done on each food. Thanks:)

  • Diamond atomic compound bow good or bad?

We bought our 10 year old daughter a Diamond Atomic bow for Christmas and it seems to be a nice bow for her beginning. We brought her to a archery range and the guy there said it was junk and that it was dangerous. I want to know if this is a dangerous bow since I don't want her to get hurt. I have not found any bad reviews on line so I want to know other thoughts on this bow. Thank you.

  • Anybody have canine acupuncture done on their dogs?

I have a 14 year old dog in very good health although with any 14 year old dog he is showing signs of his age. He is having stiffness in his rear legs and has a hard time going up and down the stairs. I have tried cosequin and some other meds for his arthritis but non seem to help so I recently was looking into acupuncture for him and was wondering if anyone has had any luck with it and what to expect from it. I love him so much and want him to have the best quality of life he can while he is still around. He is really healthy other than is stiffness and his bloodwork was really great said it was like a dog 3 years younger nothing was elevated so that makes me happy.

  • Bump on my head causing headaches for weeks?

I have been getting these headaches for a couple of weeks now and when I rubbed my forehead it felt like I had a bruise which was weird. Then I remembered that I had bumped my head like a month or two ago on the corner of a cabinet and that is where I feel a small bump still and if i press on it it hurts and it feels as though this is where my headaches are stemming from. I have also just really not felt quite right nausea and I also have felt really shaky when hungry. I will be making an appointment with my dr but just wonder what could be the problem.

  • Taste of the wild all life stages for puppy?

I have an 18 week old Goldendoodle female. The breeder had her on Eukanuba lg breed puppy and My older dog is currently on Taste of the wild Sierra Mountain Canine ALS. I want to move her to a premium brand as I do not like the Eukanuba. My question is is the ALS ok for her I have been doing lots of research on ingredients and the protine and calcium levels in this particular formula seem to match up with most of the large breed puppy formulas so I am thinking that this food would be fine for her. Guaranteed Analysis

    Crude Protein 25.0% Minimum

    Crude Fat 15.0% Minimum

    Crude Fiber 4.0% Maximum

    Moisture 10.0% Maximum

    Zinc 150 mg/kg Minimum

    Selenium 0.4 mg/kg Minimum

    Vitamin E 150 IU/kg Minimum

    Taurine * .05% Minimum

    Omega-6 Fatty Acids * 2.4% Minimum

    Omega-3 Fatty Acids * 0.3% Minimum

calcium-1.6% as fed and phosphorus 1.0% as fed with 338 kcal/cup

So I would like to get both dogs on the same food as that would save from buying two diffrent brands and costing over 100 bucks at once.

  • 12.5 yo Lab chow mix recently lost his companion who was 14. Not accepting new puppy?

Otis is our man man and he knows it! We recently lost our Abby who was 14 and they had been together since he was 8 weeks they were very close:( Little background on Otis he is a very sweet healthy for his age and very fit and active. He was well socialized when he was a puppy however he was attacked several times and has since become the aggressor. (He actually tore apart a groundhog in a matter of seconds) So over the past several years we have kept him away from other dogs. On Thursday night we brought home a 14 week old golden doodle and we have been trying to introduce them she perks right up and wants to go to him but he does not want anything to do with her he literally will not look at her and runs the other way when she comes near him he has not growled or nipped at her. He seems to be good with us as well still wagging his tail and getting all his attention. We took them for a walk yesterday and he was good but if she charges at him he just runs away we also had them in the yard with her on a leash and him off so that he could just stay away or get away if she went near him. Here is my main concern I know they need to establish boundaries and I have kind of been putting myself in between them so she does not charge into him and have him bite her. She is submissive and holds back some but then she just can't take it anymore and runs over to him, he really does not like this. I would hate to put a mussel on him but wonder if I did then I could kind of see how he was going to react to her without our inter-fearing I just do not want him to harm her! A nip would be fine if I thought for sure that was all he was going to do but we have seen him fight and it is vicious! Would a dog training class be helpful to him as well to help him become more comfortable with other dogs? Or will this just add to his stress? I love him so much and just want him to be happy and the loss of our other dog has been hard on him and the whole family we thought the puppy would help but now I fear it could make it worse:(

  • 2 1/2 yr old cries all the time?

I am a daycare provider and I have had this child for about a year now he has been this way since i got him. He is very cute and very smart but really naughty and defiant. During the day he will just start crying for no reason and is only ok if I hold him, well that doesn't work out to well for me since I have other kids to attend too. Anything I try to do with him is a fight he tells me no all the time and I don't want to! for example the other day he was outside and came in the house and I said do you want to come in? he said NO! so I said ok well lets go play and I got I don't want to! and he threw a fit right there in the door. Another example is at lunch he will eat good for me but when he stops and I ask if he is done he will push the plate away with a huff and when I try to take the plate away he will freak out so I give it back and say ok you want to finish it and he will say no I don't want to and cry we go back and forth like this. This is how my day goes with him, he likes to be held a lot and is the only time other than nap time that he is happy free play only happy for a few minutes and if I try to sit with him to play he just argues and cries. He has good days but more days like this than good. I am at my wits end with him, but I love him to death he can be so sweet. Did I mention he is a red head? Any help to better work with him is appreciated.

  • Headache since last Wednesday?

I woke up last Wednesday with a headache dull all over mostly in temples and forehead. I was also very nauseous that day no pain reliever has help I have tried advil, Tylenol, and alieve with no Relief. The headache has not gone away it is there all day with times of nauseousness. I have also been very very tired none stop yawning for a couple of hours a day. Other than that I feel fine no sinus issues or cold symptoms. I have an IUD that is due to come out in Jan that I have had no problems with so I don't think there is an issue there. I have had recently been retaining fluid in my right breast and it had grown a whole cup size and felt very full I had that checked out with a mamo and an ultrasound a couple of weeks ago and was told that everything was fine it was hormonal so not sure if there could be a connection there.

  • How would you handle this?

There is a girl in my 7 year old daughters class and she is really sweet and a good kid, but the step mom is rubbing me the wrong way and I need advice on how to handle this delicately. So here is the situation, I have talked to this woman at school when I have gone into the class to volunteer and she is nice. She had freinded me on FB and she has suggested that we get the girls together sometime. Well she texted me a while back and said "Hey I was thinking that we could come over this weekend for a play date for the girls" Now is that not rude to just invite yourself over to someone elses house? Well we could not that weekend and I have to say I was a little thrown off by her being so bold. Well anyway we set up a play date and they came over around 11 am and then they stayed till after 3 pm. A little long for a play date but whatever. A few weeks later I get anopther text saying " Hey A wants to get together for an outside play date and asked for E" So I was thinking ok she wantes us to take the girls somewhere fun. "right" so I said what did you have in mind and she said well I was thinking we could drop A off at your house for a couple of hours so that when I come back to get her she will want to stay a little longer. WHAT?????? Well I gave an excuse and I was a little mad that she thinks that this is ok. Well these types of things kept going and I said that durring the summer we r really busy and go camping alot on the weekend thinking that this would get her off my back. Well last wee I was on vacation and we were camping all week we came home Sat because of the rain, well around 5 pm I get a phone call and it is a little girl on the other end and she says hi to me then says can I come over to play with E? so I said who is this? and she says its A. I was like tonight? and she says yes. Now I am really mad it is 5 on a Sat night and she is having this little girl call to see if she can come over to play? I mean really???? I run a daycare out of my house and I get paid to take care of peoples kids all week, and to me it seemed like they were looking for someone to watch her so they could go out!!! RUDE!!!! right?

  • 7 year old daghter is easily distracted how do I help her focus?

I have a very intelligent 7-year-old girl. However, there seems to be a lack of concentration in class and in completing homework assignments. She is distracted very easily. All evidence shows she has grasped the lessons, but just does not complete the written part in class; and homework assignments are a chore - frustration for us and her. The teacher has said that she is not disruptive in class but that she will just sit there and watch what is going on around her instead of doing her work. She can read at a high level and does well in her spelling and math as well. She seems to have a "laissez-faire" attitude about school work. Note: this similar attitude is seen in other areas of tasks requests/attempts at home. Also when having a conversation with her about something she will just start talking about something else entirely that is very random and has nothing to do with what we are talking about which is also very frustrating.

I'm looking for help/techniques that will increase concentration, staying on task, and eliminating or ignoring distractions. (She already has been moved to sit near the teacher as he has to reminde her to keep working).

Personality wise, she likes accomplishments, and she likes attention/praise. Her conversation and reasoning are excellent. Her English, word usage and speech has been advanced since she began to speak. We make every attemp to give her honest praise as often as possible.

There are about 18 children in her class. My thoughts are she needs to be in a smaller group, but this particular school cannot accommodate smaller class sizes at this grade level. Having to repeat a grade would be a travesty for this little intelligent one. (We do not have the financial ability to put her in a private school). Help!
