I am a Christian. I am not perfect but have been washed in the blood of Jesus. (I could feel Him as I typed that) Praise His name. I was born with bi-latteral club feet and was healed at the age of 5. I enjoy yahoo answers, especially the R&S. I enjoy meeting people and learning about them and their testimony.
What is the best way to stop global warming?
Is Cap and Trade the best we can do?
It is set up by Kenneth Lay, the famous ceo of enron.

So is the best we can do is let large corporations with checkered pasts set up a system that will make them a lot of money, hurt the poor the most, cause economic damage to all, and has been shown not to hit it's goals when put in place?
24 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoShould a constitutional scholar know that the U.S. is a Republic and not a Democracy?
President Obama started his speech saying that we are one of the only democracies that does not have universal health care. Since he studied law at Harvard, shouldn't he know that we are a republic and not a democracy?
I pledge allegiance to the flag and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
3 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoChristians, is abortion a sign of the times?
In exodus we read that Pharaoh attempted to kill the male children born to the Hebrews, when God was sending Moses to deliver his people out of bondage.
In the gospels we read about Herod killing the male children trying to kill the new born King, when God sent our savior to earth.
Now we have the mass slaughter of unborn children, is it because time is close for our redeemer to return?
Coincidence or a sign to get ready?
19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians, what is your denomination and what are the basics to become a Christian?
I do not claim a denomination but believe that if you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, died for the remission of sins, and arose from grave and you repent and accept him as your savior you are a Christian and forgiven.
The reason I ask is I see so many Christians arguing with other denominations about doctrine. If this is the basis for belief should we not be trying to reach the lost in a unified effort rather than arguing about doctrine? In acts 2 we read that the early church(body of Christ) was all in one accord and they led people to Jesus by the thousands. Should we not use this for an example?
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy would a secular government proclaim days of fasting and prayer?

You can expand the pic and read the contents of what John Adams proclaimed while president of the United States of America.
http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/religion/rel06.html
Adams's Fast Day Proclamation
John Adams continued the practice, begun in 1775 and adopted under the new federal government by Washington, of issuing fast and thanksgiving day proclamations. In this proclamation, issued at a time when the nation appeared to be on the brink of a war with France, Adams urged the citizens to "acknowledge before God the manifold sins and transgressions with which we are justly chargeable as individuals and as a nation; beseeching him at the same time, of His infinite grace, through the Redeemer of the World, freely to remit all our offences, and to incline us, by His Holy Spirit, to that sincere repentance and reformation which may afford us reason to hope for his inestimable favor and heavenly benediction."
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy would a secular country allow church services in Congress and Supreme Court buildings?

Adams's Description of a Church Service in the Supreme Court
John Quincy Adams here describes the Reverend James Laurie, pastor of a Presbyterian Church that had settled into the Treasury Building, preaching to an overflow audience in the Supreme Court Chamber, which in 1806 was located on the ground floor of the Capitol.
Church Services in Congress after the Civil War
Boynton informed potential donors, was holding services "at the Hall of Representatives" where "the audience is the largest in town. . . .nearly 2000 assembled every Sabbath" for services, making the congregation in the House the "largest Protestant Sabbath audience then in the United States." The First Congregational Church met in the House from 1865 to 1868
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAre you celebrating this "Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty." as John Adams said?
http://www.masshist.org/adams/manuscripts_2.cfm##
John Adams to Abigail Adams, 3 July 1776, page 3
I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow important is the Genesis account of creation?
I see a lot of people claim they believe that evolution is possible and say that the creation story in Genesis in not to be taken literally. Since we can trace Jesus' geneology back to Adam, wouldn't that make the Genesis story very literal? Do you think that this is one of the things Jesus was talking about in John?
Jhn 3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you [of] heavenly things?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWho wrote these and what religion would you say the person would be?
"Our Saviour... has taught us to judge the tree by its fruit, and to leave motives to Him who can alone see into them."
"[I consider] ethics, as well as religion, as supplements to law in the government of man."
"The evidence of [the] natural right [of expatriation], like that of our right to life, liberty, the use of our faculties, the pursuit of happiness, is not left to the feeble and sophistical investigations of reason, but is impressed on the sense of every man. We do not claim these under the charters of kings or legislators, but under the King of Kings."
"Religion, as well as reason, confirms the soundness of those principles on which our government has been founded and its rights asserted."
"I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep forever:... that it may become probable by supernatural interference! The Almighty has no attribute which can take side with us in such a contest."
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do people keep saying our founding fathers were not Christians?
I see this on here regularly and would like to know where people learned this. I haven't studied all of them but I have read much of the works from many of the founding fathers and I find that most of them I have read were Christians.
43 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSince Richard Dawkins admits that ID is a possibility will any evolutionist change your mind?
Will you at least admit that it is scientific? Expelled the movie is coming out on the 18th and in it Dawkins admits that ID is a possibility.
"Dawkins concedes that life might indeed have a designer but that designer almost assuredly was a more highly evolved being from another planet, not a God."

19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCan anyone give me an example of a beneficial mutation?
I keep hearing people say that mutations are a part of evolution but I dont think I have ever seen a benefitial mutation. I know cancer is a mutation, I have seen deformed animals that were mutations but I dont think I have ever seen one that made things better or had any new genetic information.
