  • My Excel automatically unhides hidden columns and rows when I type in a formula. How to not have it do this?

This is actually happenning to a colleague of mine, not on my machine, but a solution has evaded all of us.

And the most annoying thing, is that after typing in "=" or "+" and trying to select a specific cell to put into the formula, it goes and selects some random range of cells out in the Ozarks, in addition to unhiding all grouped and hidden columns and rows.

The file actually works properly on other machines, so perhaps it is some setting in this particular instance of Excel. We also tried uninstalling and reinstalling this Excel, and it's still happenning. The file works in other machines not this one. Is there some setting that can be switched? Or is this Excel instance FUBAR?

  • Hiring a professional to replace Garage Door Springs. Need pulleys and rollers too?

I'm got a quote and recommendations for replacing my garage door springs (The left one is broken, but I'm also having the right one done too). The technician said that my rollers, and pulleys were worn out, and recommended that I change them too. His prices:

    A) Replacing only the 2 springs - $278

    B) Replacing the 2 springs, all the pulleys, 10 rollers, and all the cables - $500

    Are these reasonable quotes?

Is B commonly just a scam and he's trying to sell me more?

  • Should an AC condensation line run directly into a sewer line?

My wife and I are under contract to buy a house. We just had the house inspected, and there is a smell of sewage in the basement. The condensate line is running directly into the sewer pipe, with no trap or pump system. The connection between the condesate line and the sewer line is leaking, and there is some sewage on the basement floor. The inspector mentioned a lot of things but I forgot to take notes on that.

What is a proper system for discharging the condesate line? With a trap to the sewer line, or a pump system that discharges outside the house?

We're drafting an addendum to the contract, inspection contingency and I want to get the wording right.

Are Hugo Chavez and the president of Ecuador just full of hot air? Did you think they actually supported this rebel group that terrorizes Colombians??
